Romans 1 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.” (Romans 1:18–23, ESV) > >> It is therefore not an "ex post >> facto" law. >> Instead of admit it is not "ex post facto", since they reject the knowledge of God evident in creation, you're now going to change the subject to set up a new standard of "justice". > Explain the "divine justice" of > God killing the firstborn children in > Egypt who never violated any of God's > laws. The implication of your statement is that people are born "innocent" and "deserving" of salvation. This is not the case: Imputed Sin Imputed sin centers on a direct legal transaction that occurred at the beginning of human history (Romans 5:12). In the Garden of Eden, Adam stood as the federal and covenant representative for the entire human race (Genesis 2:16-17, 1 Corinthians 15:22). When Adam broke God's commandment, his one act of disobedience was judicially charged to the legal account of all humanity (Romans 5:19). As a result, the sentence of condemnation and death passed upon every person before they could commit individual sins (Romans 5:14, Romans 5:16). This legal reckoning sets the foundation for understanding the gospel. Just as Adam's disobedience was credited to all in him, the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ is credited to believers for their justification (Romans 5:17-18, 2 Corinthians 5:21). Inherited Sin Inherited sin addresses our internal moral condition, which is passed down from parents to children through natural generation (Genesis 5:3, Job 14:4). From the moment of conception, every human being possesses a corrupted nature that affects the mind, will, and affections (Psalm 51:5, Jeremiah 17:9). Rebellion is not merely learned; humans are born estranged from God, going astray and speaking lies from the womb (Psalm 58:3, Isaiah 48:8). From childhood, the intentions and foolishness of the human heart turn naturally away from righteousness (Genesis 8:21, Proverbs 22:15). Because of this condition, people enter the world spiritually dead and unable to submit to God or please Him on their own (Romans 8:7-8, Ephesians 2:1-3, 1 Corinthians 2:14). The personal transgressions we commit are the direct outward fruit of this internal corruption (Romans 3:10-12, Mark 7:21-23, Galatians 5:19-21). Judicial Sin Judicial sin, or judicial confinement, refers to God's sovereign legal decree that has concluded all humanity under the universal guilt and power of sin (Galatians 3:22, Romans 11:32). Through the law, God has formally locked up every mouth, eliminating all claims to personal innocence or merit (Romans 3:19-20, Galatians 3:10). This universal verdict strips away human boasting and places every individual on the exact same ground of utter need (Romans 3:23-24, Galatians 2:16). By shutting all under sin, God prepared the way for the promise of salvation to be received purely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, extending His mercy to everyone who believes (Galatians 3:22, Romans 3:21-22, Romans 11:32). -- Good News † By dying on the cross, Christ canceled the legal debt of our sins against God (Colossians 2:14), and God validated this victory by raising Him from the grave (Romans 1:4). God is now able to justly declare sinners righteous (Romans 3:26) and spare them from His future wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10). This grace is freely given to all who place their trust in Him (Romans 6:23). Put your faith in the Lord and call on His name to be saved (Romans 10:9-13): How to be saved: christrose.news/salvation
