The game is available to preorder now for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and also Steam (Nintendo Switch preorders will go live at a later date). In addition to the standard edition, you can get a Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes the full game and the following bonus items:
In the Nintendo 3DS version, Double bubbles will last for 10 battles when used. There are only two available in the entire game: the first can be earned by completing the Imp card through the Cameron's Codex sidequest, while the other can be obtained from Memories Lane. It was also possible to randomly receive a double bubble as a downloadable bonus item in 2017, but after 2018, all DLC items for the 3DS version became unavailable.
If half of the gauges on an item fills up yellow without exceeding the green zone, the resulting item will receive the highest possible bonus of +3. In addition, every successful forging attempt gives perfectionist pearls which allows you to rework an item and improve it. The higher the item's rank, the more pearls you get for each successful build. You can always spend pearls to rework something you bought at a shop to make it better. But do save the pearls to improve on the really good items only.
DRAGON QUEST SWORDS contains all the familiar features people have come to expect from the DRAGON QUEST series, such as a system to power up weapons and the ability to perform a large array of powerful attacks. Additional mini-games add to the fun as you catch darts with your shield and try to defeat Slime monsters as quickly as possible to win bonus items.
Some Named Items in the game work together to give the wearer a set bonus. A set bonus provides additional effects when the appropriate number of items in that same "set" are worn together. This bonus, and the set's name, are listed in the description of those items. Many item sets just require wearing 2 items from the set, some require 3 or more. Set bonuses are lost if the number of items worn falls below the minimum, and return when the correct number is met again, allowing a character to gear-swap in the middle of a quest and then swap back.
A character often has a choice regarding which items to wear, not having to wear all items that offer a specific set bonus. Wearing more than the listed number of items does not give additional bonuses unless the set bonus states such (see next).
Some sets offer multiple options for bonuses, one basic bonus for the base number of items, plus extra bonuses when wearing some number of set items more than the base number. For example, Slave Lords Crafting items give one bonus when wearing 3 items, and a superior bonus when wearing 5 items from that same set. Similarly, some sets start with minor benefits and improve when additional items are used; for example, the Fables of the Feywild sets grant a single bonus at 2 equipped items and add up to 5 more, one for each extra item equipped, up to 7.
These items can be found in the Level 6 Raid called The Chronoscope, there are also Epic versions of the items available along with the appropriate epic item set bonuses. With Update 50, a Legendary version of Might of the Abishai was added. With Update 64, new Rings, Necklaces and Belts were added to Might of the Abishai sets, and an extra chain of three sets called Deadly Diabolist was added.
The DM's Vision Set is a set that pays homage to the two creators of Dungeons & Dragons. The Voice is a dedication to Gary Gygax and the Mantle to Dave Arneson. The description on both items does not mention the item set bonus when wearing both items. However, upon donning both items, you will receive a visible buff, that uses the same icon for True Seeing.
The items from this set can be obtained through the Attack on Stormreach quest chain, and can be upgraded using the Cauldron of Sora Katra and ingredients obtained from the Attack on Stormreach quest chain.
Both the basic items and their upgraded versions provide the same set bonus and are interchangeable for the basic sets, although the upgraded legendary versions have an extra set of their own. You do not need to upgrade the whole set at once to maintain the basic set bonus. (The Legendary Night Hag's Heartstone can be used to replace any of the three upgraded items in both sets.)
Slave Lords crafting allows you to make a set of items (ML 8 or 28) with powerful effects, that together can also give a "set bonus", which all combined can give a much higher bonus for some effects than Cannith Crafting can offer. It also allows full flexibility regarding what effects go into which gear slots (neck, belt, bracers, boots, and/or ring(s)), so many veteran crafters will mix Slave Lords and Cannith-crafted gear to fit what they need in around their favorite named items. See the Slave Lords Crafting for more information
What bonus numbers would an alchemist have under the normal rules that they don't have under ABP? Alchemical item bonuses normally outscale their traditional counterparts, like bestial mutagen giving +1 to hit before you could get runes and +2 to hit at level 3. The items also in general are designed to provide relatively cheap, temporary access to various bonuses.
A boost that not only gives damage but ALSO makes it CRAZY BROKEN affordable for the Alch to simply never prepare Bombs with their Reagents at higher levels since they can easily just spend something like 10% - 0.5% of their estimated/intended WBL depending on what level they actually are playing at to stock up on dozens of level 1 Bombs and far more efficiently use the Reagents on non-Bomb Infused Alch items. Can you explain how bombs get a damage boost? What am I not seeing. Bombs are Weapons and valid targets for Runes (though it's a TERRIBLE use of funds to do so) and also have stated Weapon Damage Dice. With ABP all Bombs gain additional Weapon Damage Dice according to the individual who is using it which means a 3gp level 1 Lesser Alchemist Fire will deal the same number of Weapon Damage Dice (though the additional Splash and Persistent Damage don't get upgraded) as a 2500gp level 17 Major Alchemist Fire. It's another notch in the belt tracker for ways that Alchemical Items weren't accounted for with ABP, and a VERY big one if applied literally and without tweaks for the table. They'd lose the Item Bonus which makes it harder to hit, admittedly, but that is still something that impacts the higher level more costly versions of Bombs equally. Ran as RAW the cost savings is absolutely BONKERS over the top too good to be true.
I think ABP should be changed to only affect Magical items that grant item bonuses anyway, instead of using ambiguous wording. Mutagens should still work. Bombs should just use the bomb's statistics. Expanded Healer's Tools should still grant a +1, etc...
I'm wondering if it wouldn't be easier to just say that ABP applies to permanent items but not consumables or spells. Any item bonuses from consumables or spells gets changed to potency bonus, but no other changes are made to the consumables or spells (including increasing the damage). That also prevents questions about how ABP applies to polymorph battle form spells and their listed and heightened damage amounts too.
There's actually an argument to be made that ABP only alters MAGIC items. Everything in the introduction to the rule references magic items, but the adjustments located at the end don't make the distinction between magic and mundane. But if you take only targeting magic items as the intention, then mutagens actually become way stronger since they stack with potency. Neither outcome seems intended, though. (Though this reading does allow things like Infiltrator's tools to still apply bonuses, which I personally like.)
It would make the item bonuses from buildings in Kingmaker2e hilariously effective instead of just gone. So that's fun. Stack that with the potency bonus to AC and saves, and suddenly the champion running around in a tin can is very jealous. One of my PCs is a mutagenist, and I allow his mutagens to work normally. I also let weapon traits like grapple and trip provide item bonuses.
