The last two hours were spent on the phone with the Xfinity advanced team that works on mobile issues and they're stumped. Regular texts come in just fine, and so do other "short code" alerts, etc. The bank insists Xfinity is blocking their code. Xfinity says they don't block codes and it has to be something to do with the bank. Everything worked when I had Verizon service up until noon today, so no, it's not the bank. The PayPal chat agent was so little help that I'm going to cancel that account and open a new one, this time not with text verification. I may be able to get into the bank account using a secret word, but it means their phone app is useless. Has anyone else encountered this, and what did you do? Unfortunately, it didn't work. I'm visiting the store in person tomorrow to see if there's anything more they can do. If not, it looks like I need to persuade my bank to delete my online account so I can start over. Don't know how easy that will be. They said they could not delete my 2-factor authentication. I've seen in other forums that the problem with not receiving bank authenication texts is related to this Xfinity Mobile feature called "Premium Messaging Block", and others have had their problems fixed by having Xfinity disable the "Premium Messaging Block" feature. I am currently having the same issue with not receiving bank and other online account authenication texts, but when I spoke to Xfinity support, they stated that "Premium Messaging Block" was not associated with my account (I'm not sure I believe the support person I was speaking to). Can anyone else add validity to disabling this feature as a possible fix? The USAA bank will soon let you deposit a check with your iPhone. Many banks have iPhone apps that allow online banking, but USAA, from its single branch in San Antonio, will be the first to dispatch with the decidedly old-school check. I've banked with them for 4 years and I have been really happy with US Bank before this. I know its just $25 dollars and I am sure it is written somewhere about the time. It kinda hit me hard since I have been rebuilding and always on time to login this morning and see -Late Payment Charge-. That's a shame...since it is only 10 minutes perhaps you can speak to a supervisor and get the late charge reversed. I know it's not the $25, but it just seems that when you have a multi-year relationship with a bank that some wiggle room is warranted. The best of luck to you. If you miss the cut off time, do NOT make the payment over the internet. Go to a branch, or call in. They can process the payment over the phone / in person, and it will still be posted on the same day. This is the same for Chase and Citibank; nothing out of the ordinary here. Not too sure on cut off times for most banks, but it is also 5pm PST for Chase (I'm in west coast), which is essentially 7pm CST. Very sorry this happened to you. After having banked with them for a number of years before leaving them around two years ago, I can honestly say this doesn't surprise me. Same thing happened to me a few times in the past, and just like with you, nowhere was it clearly stated what cut off time existed before a payment was considered late. At least other creditors are more transparent about this, but not US Bank. Their customer service is anything but 5 stars, which is why I left them and will never return. As others have suggested, I'd recommend that you call again and ask to speak with a supervisor if necessary. Don't hesitate to try again a couple of times during different parts of the day to increase your chances of success. They may eventually get tired of you calling and just give in since this was your first instance. Depending on how far you want to push it, I can pm you some contact information that may be helpful. Probably best just to set up automatic deduction of minimum payment from now on just to be safe as others suggested. Point this out when you call back. Best of luck!
