Click on the arrow next to the Salesforce account in the mobile app. You will find a time based verification code. Click on "Having Trouble?" on desktop, choose "Use a code from an authenticator app", and enter the verification code that the app generated.


Your admin needs to disconnect the previous authenticator app, once that is done and you attempt to log in you'll be prompted to select a new authenticator app and should be able to access your instance immediately.


I have very mixed feelings towards the enforcement of MFA by Salesforce, which as a consequence enforces the usage of authenticator apps. I have over 400 developer orgs to deal with. I have to login on dozens of orgs every day.


Can someone assist me on my authenticator app? I set it up few months ago and it went well but then I forgot on how to use this app on my mobile phone and deleted the app. I am stuck with ADD AN ACCOUNT that sends two phrases, but my verification wants me to input 6-digit verification code. However, as much as I want to follow the instructions I do not know where to go since I got stuck with add an account. Not to mention, I can't enable backups because it says that I do not have any salesforce accounts to back up.






Excellent question. 1Password can generate one-time passwords for most sites that allow you to save your QR code or secret. So as long as Salesforce supports Time-based One-Time Passwords (TOTP), which it sounds like it does, as third-party apps are supported, you should have no problem using 1Password as an authenticator for this site. MFA requires you to set up an identity verification method. SalesforceAuthenticator app is the preferred authenticator for the Elekta CareCommunity portal, but you can also use Microsoft MFA or GoogleAuthenticator.

Important: Security keys that support WebAuthn or U2F and built-in authenticators can't be used when authenticating to Tableau Cloud from Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep Builder, Tableau Bridge and Tableau Content Migration Tool. If one of these verification methods have been registered, you (and your users) can register an additional verification method from your My Account Settings page in Tableau Cloud.


How will internal (staff) users be affected?

Once you have activated MFA (as described below), staff will simply need to download the Salesforce Authenticator app on their phone to enroll. Or you can use an existing third-party authenticator, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Azure or even a physical Yubikey. when I log into salesforce on my PC, I receive a notification on my cellphone from Microsoft Authenticator app. It tracks my location and I accept on my phone in order to be able to access salesforce on the PC.
