The partners' "E-mail made in Germany" program utilizes an additional security standard that for the very first time enables GMX, T-Online and WEB.DE users to automatically encrypt data over all transmission paths and offers peace of mind that data are handled in compliance with German data privacy laws. Data are encrypted directly by the provider, which means customers need no specific technical know-how and incur no extra costs. All data are stored in secure data centers located in Germany. In addition, a special designation allows users to see before dispatching their e-mail which of the recipients selected also use secure e-mail addresses and thus comply with the initiative's security standards. From today, e-mail communication between data centers at GMX, T-Online and WEB.DE is being sent in encrypted form. Transmission from the handset to the e-mail server is already encrypted for all customers who use an e-mail application from one of the partners or who have activated SSL encryption in their e-mail program (e.g., Outlook). For security reasons, from the beginning of 2014 the initiative partners will only transport SSL-encrypted e-mails to ensure that data traffic over all of their transmission paths is secure. "Germans are deeply unsettled by the latest reports on the potential interception of communication data. Our initiative is designed to counteract this concern and make e-mail communication throughout Germany more secure in general. The service thus prevents your sender IP from being put on a blacklist of unwanted senders by anti-spam databases and from getting blocked. In addition, the Sender Domain Check protects against misuse and the blacklist monitoring alerts you to entries in blacklists.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Good/Bad routing prevents you as the sender from permanently ending up on block lists of anti-spam providers. It first checks the email to be sent and assesses how likely it is to be considered spam. If the message is inconspicuous, it is sent via one of the "good" gateways. In the case of suspected spam, on the other hand, this suspicious email is sent via the "bad" gateway. Then there is a higher chance that the gateway will be put on a block list. Should this occur, the Support will check whether this can be remedied. This means that the domain has a public MX record or at least a public A record that assigns an IP address to the address. For mails at these set up domains, the connection between the mail servers is then compulsory TLS encrypted. The service ensures official and secure delivery of outgoing e-mails and prevents blacklisting. The IP address of the sender is encoded and the sending and receiving emails is protected, as anti-spam and anti-virus filters can be activated by the user.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Using the secure mailgate service is very easy as the current mail server can be used with almost no adjustments. The mail server carries a mail host address and in return its public IP is registered on the mail host. Outgoing mail is therefore sent via the secure mailgate service and confirmed as legitimate. If required, incoming mail can also be routed via the mailgate service.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Once set up, the secure mailgate service must be used for sending e-mails direct from Open Telekom Cloud.
