Definitely. If I make carrot soup (rare now, as I used to make it too 
often and got tired of it), I just prep what looks about right, and add 
enough stock to come to the same level as the veg, no more.

I assume they mean curry powder. A pinch is indeed meaningless.
If you want curried carrot soup, grind them spices from scratch.

I use a Lakeland bread machine since my old Panasonic packed up, and 
no-one else makes machines that open on the long side (and therefore fit 
underneath my wall cupboards: the ones that open on the short side mean 
the lid hits the underside of the cupboard). The designers have their 
heads up their...nut dispensers.
