It's not just California where people are moving out in droves:

According to an alarming new survey, the majority of Spokane city and 
county residents are willing to leave the region over the surging costs 
of living, driven by news taxes, and quality of life concerns, such as 
the rise of homelessness.

A shocking 68% of respondents say they are actively considering a move 
out of the county, up two points since last year’s survey, with taxes 
being the most cited reason.

59% of Spokane residents are actively thinking about leaving.
And 63% of respondents complain that quality of life is worsening around 
the county.
