If the bad guys didn’t have access to guns, the law abiding people wouldn’t
need guns to protect them from the bad guys. 
Simplistic I know but that’s how it works in countries that restrict gun
ownership. They just aren’t available for anyone, good or bad guys. (Unless
in Canada’s case they’re smuggled across the border. :( but thats minimal.)
Even if there was a ban on guns in the U S., the guns are already there and
are an integrated part of your culture.  

I wonder if enough of the US population wanted a gun free country, it would
be possible to have one.
