"Angie Nixon, a Florida State Representative for Duval County
(Jacksonville), won the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate seat in
Florida on August 18, 2026.

Nixon defeated former Trump administration whistleblower Alex Vindman,
receiving approximately 55-56% of the vote in a significant upset
despite being outspent by a factor of 16 to 1.

Nixon is a Jacksonville native and member of the Democratic Socialists
of America (DSA), known for her grassroots campaigning and advocacy on
issues like childcare and healthcare.

She will face Republican incumbent Senator Ashley Moody in the general
election on November 3, 2026, to fill the seat vacated by Marco Rubio."

Her chance of winning the Senate seat appears to be slim to none.
