I think I should have used the Chinese as an example instead of Russians
as that would be more likely in the Philippines. That potential is a
solid one and not absurd at all.

https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/philippines-orders-foreign-workers-offshore-gaming-hubs-leave-2-months-2024-07-24/

"Philippine immigration chief Norman Tansingco said in a statement
foreign workers had 59 days to leave the country. Around 20,000 people
are expected to be affected by the order, most of them Chinese citizens.
Workers who stay in the country beyond the two-month period will be
deported, he added."

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy/article/3364178/beijing-and-manila-clash-over-arrests-illegal-workers-tensions-worsen

"In May, Teodoro directed armed forces to detain 70 allegedly
undocumented Chinese nationals at the Sanjia Steel Corporation plant,
prompting formal protests from Beijing and consular visits."

It looks like the Philippine government has a strict policy around
immigration and has no problem deporting people who don't follow their
rules.
