Loving discipline does that.  No doubt she was able to stay home with
the kids.

So often parents think one or the other is the trick.  Love but no
discipline, discipline but no love at the same time.  Good genes also
helps.

I did 8 years in the af.  I don't think military by itself is any
guarantee of anything.  Colonels can get divorced too, and have
rebellious kids.
