hello everyone.
I have a solidly built 100 year ld house that needs new siding on the back only. I am wondering if 500 sq ft x 5 lb/sq ft = 2500 pounds on the back of the house could cause any settling problems on an old house like this.

One contractor has told me yes, and wants to go with a wood composite shingle which is easier to install, less durable, and slightly cheaper.
Another contractor (more expensive) has told me it's not a problem.

Any wise thoughts out there?

Thank you.
