In a Tuesday Twitter video, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio warned viewers of 
worsening economic effects because of America's reliance on foreign 
products, namely those from Russia and China.

"Guys, I just wanted to take a moment to make sure everyone was aware that 
some tough economic times are ahead for us. And here's why: because we 
depend way too much on places like China and Russia for our economy," 
Rubio began.

He added that the current global crises are examples of "why we need to be 
able to make more things and get more things right here from America."

"Russia invaded Ukraine, which is one of the world's leading producers of 
food. So we're going to see food shortages and food prices going up. And 
on top of that, their invasion has created this shortage of global oil 
because we're not producing more of it here in the United States, and it's 
raising gas prices, which in turn raises prices on everyone."

He also added that China is shutting down factories in the wake of the 
omicron variant of COVID-19, warning of more supply chain shortages.

In a CNN appearance on March 2, Rubio warned that Russian President 
Vladimir Putin's age is sneaking up on him. "He is older now. His time is 
running out on this earth. He knows that," he told host Jake Tapper.

The senator has speculated about Putin's mental state, claiming it is 
declining with age. "We should not assume that the Vladimir Putin of 2022 
is the same guy that he was 10 or five years ago. His risk calculus is 
very different."
