They are funding and inciting sedition. Shut them down and file charges. The owners of Mischief Toy Store in St. Paul say they were hit with a "retaliatory audit" Friday, just hours after ABC News aired a story on the store's effort to equip the community with whistles. Abigail Adelsheim-Marshall, who co-owns the Grand Avenue business with her parents, Dan Marshall and Millie Adelsheim, told the network the whistles are a non-violent form of protest and a way for community members to alert their neighbors to the presence of U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) agents. What happened after the story aired is now gaining even more attention. “Three hours later, two plainclothes ICE agents came into our store and served us with a Notice of Inspection," Dan Marshall told the Pioneer Press. According to the newspaper, the business has been asked to turn over I-9 documents for the store's employees. “We have five part-time employees and three owners," Marshall told the newspaper. "So tell me why they want to waste time on five part-time employees. But here we are.” The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE did not respond to the Pioneer Press' request for the comment on the story, which the owners of Mischief Toy Store say has gone viral and led to a "HUGE amount of support" from the community. Now, they say they've decided to pay that support forward to immigrants rights organizations and mutual aid groups. "We're not experienced philanthropists, but this made sense to us," they shared on Facebook on Tuesday. "Hopefully, ICE will learn that the more they try to hurt our community, the more we help each other." According to Mischief Toy Store, $1,000 donations have been made to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, MONARCA, COPAL MN and the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee. Additionally, $500 donations were sent to the Flourish Placemaking Collective and the Twin Cities Vegan Chef Collective. DHS is also auditing Hennepin Healthcare, with a subpoena issued for the hospital's I-9 forms on Jan. 8 – two days after staff and elected officials held a press conference criticizing agents' actions at the hospital. https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-news/st-paul-toy-store-hit-with-ice-audit-after-abc-news-story-about-handing-out-whistles
