Try out some BBSes from your Ultimate. I am currently typing this on a
C64 running StrikeTerm2014 connected to my BBS. Through that, I'm in
SLRN, a text-based newsreader. Some people like to set up message bases
for different newsgroups, but this way the user can sub to whatever
groups they want. Anyway, StrikeTerm2014 is for when you want to call
non-C= BBSes, and CCGMS Future v2 is the terminal program to use when
calling C= / PETSCII boards or 40 column ASCII boards :). c64bbslist.com
has a good list.
