In the beginning we had the option of either buy or renting the cable 
boxes (the wires are always free). Now they are 100% rented unless you 
are lucky enough to find one for sale on kijiji from someone who is 
switching providers. The advantage of having a rented one is that they 
own it, so if it breaks or you want the newest model, you can trade it 
in.
