Those who could afford it swarmed the state trying to get into the colleges and technical schools. The California 70's, 80's, and most of the 90's were part of the greatest technology boom in modern history. It all started going downhill from 2000 forward. Came the failed politicians from the East Coast, bringing with them union organizers and queers. Today, in March of 2026, most California high school graduates cannot read or write at grade level. They cannot perform basic math calculations without using a smart phone. Most can't even operate smart phone calculators correctly! Many dropped out of high school during their freshman or sophomore years, and live at home with parents who tolerate, and even encourage, drug abuse and anti-societal behavior. California "4.0" high school graduates can't even pass the entrance exams to get into California colleges. This is what happens when people stop paying attention to the political administrations in their regions. They allow the politicians to become rulers versus public servants. That is exactly what happened to California.
