No. Designations like Nor'Easter refer to the direction the wind is blowing from at the speaker's location. Hurricanes have a circular wind pattern, and are usually counter-clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere. So if Ian is sitting in the Atlantic somewhere off the coast of New York, the most likely direction of winds in NYC is from the Northeast. Hence... -- I do so have a memory. It's backed up on DVD... somewhere...
