My father's youngest sister passed away yesterday morning. She was born when Dad was ~15. She dropped out of high school then got her GED. Later she got her degree in nursing while her daughter was young. She had retired before COVID for health reasons. She will be missed. Unfortunately, I will never forget what I learned about poor educators from her story. In the 1970s, she wanted to be a veterinarian but was told "Girl's can't do that." What she needed to hear was "You need to work on your math skills. Do you want help finding a tutor?" Mom became that math tutor when I was in Middle School/Junior High. Cindy Wells (Edyie got married several times so I won't detail any last names.)
