As posted about last month, Google Chrome has today dropped support for Win=
dows XP, Windows Vista, and Mac OS X releases 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8. New ins=
tallations from the Chrome installer download will not work on machines wit=
h those operating systems. Existing users will see a message that they will=
 no longer receive updates because their operating system is unsupportted.

In the last couple of months, It was not uncommon to see people running Mac=
 OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard -- released in 2009), which is a long way from where=
 we are now. Mac OS is currently 10.15.1 (Catalina). If you're using an old=
er Mac OS, then you may have to upgrade to have any hope of Canvas running =
correctly.

So:-- Does anyone know exactly what Facebook is changing ("soon") and/or ho=
w soon that change will happen?-- Is there any version of Firefox more rece=
nt than 45.0.0 that will run (perhaps with some tolerable "limits") on Mac =
OS 10.6.8?--- ... if so, what version should I look for?--- ... and at what=
 website.

I installed the current Google Chrome browser and now access my dropbox fil=
es using that utility. It works fine. I'm told that recent Firefox browsers=
 are also OK. More recent MacOsX and Sarari versions seem to work, but ther=
e doesn't seem to be a solution using the older mac osx 10.6.8 safari 5.1.1=
0 combination.

This is a very bizarre issue that I hope someone can help with. We're runni=
ng 10.6.8 server to host our internal wiki. We had the firewall enabled on =
that machine without any issues. Last week one user wasn't able to get onto=
 the wiki. In troubleshooting their workstation I found they couldn't acces=
s the wiki via Safari under any user account (including a fresh test accoun=
t). They could access it through another browser (Chrome + FF). They could =
also access sharepoints on that server. I deleted some Safari system-wide p=
refs to no avail.

Open System Preferences and select Network. Select Wi-Fi (labelled Airport =
on 10.5 and 10.6) on the left menu then click Advanced. Select the Hardware=
 tab. The MAC Address line shows the MAC address for this interface.

Open a browser window. In the address bar, type chrome://system and press E=
nter. Look for ifconfig and click the Expand button next to it. Look for ei=
ther the eth0 section (wired MAC address) or the wlan0 section (wireless ad=
dress). In both sections, the MAC address will be listed as ether.
