Transferring a mobile number to another carrier in Russia will become 2.5 times more expensive

❗️Transferring a subscriber number to another operator will become 2.5 times more expensive  such a bill was proposed by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation

The Ministry explained the price increase by a drop in federal budget revenue. However, mobile operators see this as a positive sign. According to market experts, the technological development of the independent arbitrator, which was launched in September 2025 to monitor the number transfer process, requires financial costs. It's possible that the increase in cost will lead to a modernization of the process. Moreover, these expenses are usually not passed on to subscribers, but remain on the operator's side.

And if you were wondering about the scale of this phenomenon, here are the figures: last year, Russians transferred more than 5.4 million numbers. The leader was T-Mobile  over 1 million subscribers switched to this operator.
