Vance to wipe ‘improper ideology’ from the Smithsonian

The project offers the vice president the opportunity to make
headway on his yearslong crusade against progressive principles.

Vice President JD Vance has a new job: erasing what the White
House considers “improper ideology” from the Smithsonian, a
task that allows him to cast aside the progressive ideas he
has decried since long before he was elected to public office.

The vice president, who sits on the museum network’s board,
has been tasked with slashing funding for exhibits or programs
that promote “ideologies inconsistent with Federal law and
policy,” including those that recognize trans people, “degrade
shared American values,” or “divide Americans based on race,”
according to an executive order President Donald Trump signed
behind closed doors on Thursday.

   On the one hand, if you give the leftists an inch they
   will turn everything into a massive Hate America expo.

   On the other, going too far to work against their
   propaganda schemes kinda becomes a propaganda scheme
   in and of itself. "Ideological/Patriotic-Purity"
   sounds awfully USSR/PRC.

   The USA isn't ALWAYS good and great - and when it's not
   then it should be noted. However there's "noted" and
   "blown out of all proportion" - typical WokieLefty shit.

   The Wokies were active trying to suppress PRO-America
   material the past years - dwelling on Jim Crow or the
   Japanese WW2 detainees or Vietnam war nasties or the
   poor poor poor oppressed Letter People kiddie-rapists
   while ignoring all good or smarter acts and intentions.

   The MAGAs would like to believe none of the bad stuff
   ever happened, that the entire pop spends its spare
   hours pledging to the flag.

   BOTH extremes are bullshit, of course.

   And federal funds shouldn't go into either.

   The TRICK is achieving a kind of BALANCE ... and that
   does not really mean Extreme-vs-Extreme stuff but a
   viewpoint closer to the ill-defined middle.

   NOT sure it can be done well via law however - more
   like a choice by the bulk of the pop to just IGNORE
   the idiotic extreme stuff.

   It's oft said that the victors write the history.
   This has always been true. However what is written,
   in defense of any two or three purist goals, is
   not REALLY "history" per-se. THAT sometimes takes
   a long time to come out ... and even THEN the
   vision offered by 'greater distance' can be biased,
   missing the fine sociocultural details and context
   of the age.

   The 'reparations' crowd goes wrong there, always trying
   to judge past civs by contemporary (usually lefty,
   usually money-centered) standards while forgetting
   that conquest/conquered has been an ongoing thing for
   10,000 years - thus whose fault is what and why ?
   What belongs to who - why - who did THEY steal it from ?

   Hey, if it was easy they'd have figured it out many
   thousands of years ago. The horrible truth is that
   there's no horrible Truth - just a 'case' for/against
   at best. Human thought/existence is too subjective
   for anything else. We're a 'fuzzy' species, not
   computers. What's real/important is a constantly
   evolving political and psychological mass kludge.

   Or were you hoping for a 'crusade' tone here - all MAGA
   or Wokie, NAZI or Commie, Holy or Heretic ?????? Some
   human shit is just *complicated*.
