My ex-roommate stole my postage stamps and my iPhone 12. It was a Wednesday when I went to the store and got an iPhone 16. Then Thursday or Friday, my mom wrote me and said, "You should consider a phone option other than an iPhone." What I remember most though was that I changed the phone number because he stole mine. For safety and maybe also he wasn't the first to get one of those with that number. But what a fucking hassle in today's economy where your phone number has become more identification than a Driver's License. For example, paypal was shelling out from my bank account on McAfee and Doordash annual subscriptions. No way to stop it because paypal had my old phone number and old Facebook account as security options to access the account. And get this: I was able to pass one security option, but then, like real total assholes, paypal kept popping up a request for a second security option I guess because they didn't think much of my first option, because it was low on their list of access points in commanding power.
