Job 36: Almighty Justice Unveiled

Elihu instructs Job on God's perfect justice, showing that divine power

By speaking God's truth (Job 36:1-4)

Elihu spoke on God's behalf to convince Job and the onlookers of the 
absolute purity and justice of God's character in His dealings with man.

The perfection of divine righteousness guarantees that God never acts 
unjustly or unfairly toward any creation.

Jesus Christ is the ultimate revelation and manifestation of God's 
perfect righteousness, fulfilling the law and offering His righteousness 
to all who believe (Romans 3:21-22).

Believers are instructed to speak truth in love and proclaim the 
righteousness of God to build up the church and defend the faith 
(Ephesians 4:15, 2 Corinthians 5:20).

By accepting divine discipline (Job 36:5-15)

Elihu described how God uses both affliction and prosperity to execute 
justice, instruct the heart, and deliver the afflicted from their 
oppression.

God's sovereignty over human suffering serves as a disciplinary tool to 
turn people away from sin and direct them toward salvation.

Through His sacrificial death on the cross, Christ satisfied the perfect 
justice of God by taking the penalty of sin upon Himself so that sinners 
might be justified (Romans 3:25-26).

Churches are taught that God's justice includes loving discipline for 
His children to produce the peaceful fruit of righteousness (Hebrews 
12:6-11).

By practicing true humility (Job 36:16-25)

Elihu cautioned Job against letting anger and affliction drive him into 
mockery, rebellion, or self-righteous judgment against the Almighty.

Human pride and unrepentant anger blind individuals to God's authority 
and expose them to divine judgment.

Christ modeled perfect humility and submission to the Father's will, 
warning that whoever exalts himself will be humbled and whoever humbles 
himself will be exalted (Matthew 23:12).

The epistles command Christians to strip away all bitterness, pride, and 
arrogance, submitting humbly under the mighty hand of God (James 4:6-10, 
1 Peter 5:5-6).

By praising divine majesty (Job 36:26-33)

Elihu pointed to the vastness of creation, rain, clouds, and thunder to 
demonstrate that God's power and knowledge far exceed human understanding.

God's infinite power and cosmic order demand supreme reverence, awe, and 
worship from all mankind.

Christ displayed this divine power over nature and creation during His 
earthly ministry and now upholds the universe by the word of His power 
(Mark 4:39-41, Hebrews 1:3).

Believers are called to marvel at the unsearchable majesty of God and 
render continuous praise and glory to Him in all things (1 Timothy 1:17, 
Revelation 4:11).

Invitation

The unsearchable power and righteousness of God are most clearly 
demonstrated in the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Though all 
have sinned and fallen short of His perfect standard, Christ endured the 
penalty of sin through His sacrificial death and rose victorious to 
offer total forgiveness and eternal life. Look away from 
self-righteousness, turn from pride, and rely completely on the finished 
work of Christ by calling on the name of the Lord for salvation.
