Bible: Earth will be destroyed by fire

1) Forever means undefined horizons, not eternity without end:

Exodus 21:6

Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him
to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear
through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

In this law, "for ever" is bounded by the physical life of the 
bondservant. He serves his master until his earthly life ends, 
demonstrating that the word refers to the duration of a lifetime rather 
than an endless eternity.

1 Samuel 1:22

But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up
until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear
before the LORD, and there abide for ever.

Hannah describes Samuel abiding before the Lord "for ever," which refers 
to his ongoing service at the tabernacle throughout his earthly life, 
not an eternal, never-ending period of time.

1 Samuel 1:28

Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he
shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.

This verse explicitly defines what Hannah meant by "for ever" six verses 
earlier. The text directly equates "for ever" with the phrase "as long 
as he liveth," proving that the term is bounded by human lifespan.

Jonah 2:6

I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was
about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O
LORD my God.

Jonah was in the belly of the fish for only three days and three nights, 
yet he describes that period as being enclosed "for ever." This shows 
the word can describe a very short, finite period that carries a sense 
of total enclosure or completion within its setting.

1 Samuel 27:12

And Achish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel
utterly to abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.

King Achish expected David to remain his servant "for ever," which 
simply meant for the remainder of David's living years under his authority.

Leviticus 25:46

And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to
inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but
over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over
another with rigour.

Here, bondservice "for ever" refers to an ongoing legal status that 
lasts for the lifetime of the individuals involved, passed down through 
generations, rather than an unending state of being.

Philemon 1:15

For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest
receive him for ever.

Paul contrasts Onesimus being gone temporarily "for a season" with being 
received back "for ever," meaning a permanent relationship for the rest 
of their mortal lives on earth.

As these passages demonstrate, the biblical use of "forever" 
consistently refers to an age, a defined duration, or the span of a 
person's life. Rather than signifying infinite time without end, the 
term marks a full, unbroken horizon bounded by the context of the situation.

2) The Earth WILL be destroyed by fire

Isaiah 24:19-20

The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the 
earth is moved exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a 
drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression 
thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

Isaiah 34:4

And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be 
rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the 
leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.

Isaiah 51:6

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for 
the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old 
like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: 
but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be 
abolished.

Psalm 102:25-26

Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are 
the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, 
all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change 
them, and they shall be changed:

Zephaniah 1:18

Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the 
day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the 
fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all 
them that dwell in the land.

Zephaniah 3:8

Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up 
to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may 
assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my 
fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my 
jealousy.

Matthew 24:35

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Hebrews 1:10-12

And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; 
and the heavens are the works of thine hands: They shall perish; but 
thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; And as a 
vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art 
the same, and thy years shall not fail.

2 Peter 3:10-12

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which 
the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall 
melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein 
shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be 
dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy 
conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of 
the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, 
and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Revelation 20:11

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face 
the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

Revelation 21:1

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the 
first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
