A Psalm of Praise. Of David.

1 I will exalt you, my God and King,
and I will bless Your name forever and ever.
2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Every day I will bless You,
and I will praise Your name forever and ever.
3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
and His greatness is unfathomable.
4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) One generation shall praise Your works to another
and shall declare Your mighty acts.
5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) I will speak of the glorious honor of Your majesty
and of Your wondrous works.

and I will declare Your greatness.

"What's my birth mother's name?" My seven-year-old daughter's sincere question
pierced my heart. Ours had been a private adoption where we were provided only
the most basic of information about her parents: height, weight, age, colour 
of hair and eyes. How was I to respond? The question felt impossible! I drew 
in a breath and prayed, "God, what do I say?" A sentence tumbled out of my 
mouth: "What would you like her name to be?" She beamed at me and proclaimed, 
"Madeline!" "Then, Madeline it is!" I declared. I believe God had provided 
an answer when I didn't have one. 

In the years after His death, Jesus' followers would encounter great 
challenges where they needed God's answers in seemingly impossible situations.
In John 14, Jesus promised He would not leave them alone but would come to 
them with help (v. 18). Further, God would provide an ongoing flow of help: 
"The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will 
teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you" 
(v. 26).

Sometimes the questions we face seem impossible to answer. We need God's help 
and answers with our children, our work, our neighbours, and our world. When 
we don't have the answers, He can provide them.

In what area of your life do you need God's help today? 
What questions do you have that you can bring to Him 
for the answers only He can provide?

Thank You, dear Father, for the gift 
of Your Holy Spirit to guide me in each moment.

Week 5 Rejoice in Grace - Day 1 Call to the Lord - 2 Samuel 22:3-4

3 (Ge 15:1; Ps 9:9) the God of my strength, in whom I will trust;
my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my fortress and my sanctuary;
my Savior, You save me from violence.
4 (Ps 48:1; 96:4) I call upon the Lord, who is praiseworthy,
and I am saved from my enemies.

3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust:
He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge,
My saviour; thou savest me from violence.
4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised:

In the old Days of Television Western, we could always tell who the enemy was.
The bad guys wore black hats; the evil villain had a scar across
his cheek or a patch over one eye. But real life is
not quite so simple . Enemies come in many forms, and often are not easy to
recognise. Sin is an enemy; even those we love can seek
to undermine our faith;
modern materialism and distorted values lead us away from biblical principles.
These enemies may not seek our death in a physical sense,
but their influence results in spiritual death or, at the very least,
immaturity.
Yet God promises to rescue us from our enemies. David describes the Lord as a
"rock", a "shield", a "stronghold", and a "refuge". God provides a stable
foundation for our faith; he products us from the attacks of the enemy;
he offers a place of rest in battle.
Our battles are usually not physical ones, but rather spiritual
and emotional wars.
We struggle with difficult relationships, the burdens of the past,
the subtle accusations of the devil.
But these enemies can be overcome. David says,
"I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise" .
When we turn to the Lord, trust his Word, acknowledge his
worthiness, we put our own problems and difficulties in perspective.
We see that God is able to rescue us, and has promised to do so.
And as we respond to his grace by focusing
on him, we abandon trust in ourselves and allow him to do what he promised.

Ontario has 55% of all of Canada's entire Muslim population. This means that 
the whole of the Muslim world is represented somewhere in this province. Most
Muslims are understandably located along the southern border stretching
from Windsor eastward all the way up to Ottawa. Yet Muslims are constantly 
resettling in more and more suburban and even small towns of Ontario. Mosques 
are springing up, and where there are enough gathered, Islamic schools 
are starting.
And they're not complacent, either. Many Islamic leaders are energetic in their
advancement of Islam in Canadian society. Recently in the Niagara Region,
the local mosque distributed via Canada Post as many as 50000 full-colour 
brochures on Islam. An that mosque's Facebook page proudly show pictures of 
"reverts", or white Canadians who have converted to Islam as a result of
receiving the flier and engaging with the mosque community.  Another town 
reports  Muslims going door-to-door evangelism.
Agree in prayer for:

- net network leaders - the need is great
- the development of network leadership teams
- good connections with local pastors, congregations and individuals 
  whom God is calling into this ministry.
- wisdom facilitating outreach and training activities for mobilising 
   believers
- new full and part-time workers among Muslims throughout all these areas
- for pastors and churches to respond not in fear, but full of faith and love
  towards Muslims, sharing Jesus with them.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid  celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that 
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you 
know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 :  17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; 
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants 
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. 
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: 
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.  20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to
cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.
