I once pointed this out in a letter to a campus preacher named Brother 
Jed.  He got so angry he thereafter addressed me as "Queer Terry" rather 
than "Dear Terry".  There's something that upsets some people when they 
realize they don't have the approval of JESUS for their bigotry.

What did Jesus have to say about homosexuality?  Absolutely nothing.

A lot of people are shocked to discover that Jesus didn't even KNOW 
Paul.  Jesus never met him, let alone authorized Paul to speak on His 
behalf.

People are dismayed when asked, "Do you follow Jesus or do you follow 
PAUL?"  They are just as dismayed when told "When reading the Bible, 
listen FOR the word of God."

They (like Brother Jed) often quote Leviticus as justification for 
persecution of homosexuals.  But they don't have a problem with wearing 
clothes made of cotton and polyester (Leviticus 19:19) or cutting their 
hair or beard (Leviticus 19:27) or even getting a tattoo (Leviticus 
19:28).  Leviticus 11:12 makes is clear that you can't eat shellfish.

If someone is going to follow the teachings of the Old Testament, 
shouldn't they follow ALL of the teachings?  Or if they quote the book 
of Leviticus as the source of their condemnation, shouldn't they 
completely follow the book?  Fred Phelps' clan, who often quote 
Leviticus, protested at the funeral of Fred ("Mr. Rogers") Rogers, 
saying that Mr. Rogers was going to HELL for NOT condemning homosexuals.


But I don't see Rev. Fred Phelps with a beard or dreadlocks!

Phelps runs the "GOD HATES" websites and uses Leviticus as his

Well, I guess I should say he runs MOST of the "GOD HATES" websites.

The people at GOD HATES SHRIMP dot COM seem to stick it to Phelps at 
every turn.  Check out the photos of them protesting along side of the 
anti-gay people.  They show the absurdity of blindly following one part 
of the Bible while ignoring the parts we don't like.  You can't pick and 
choose.

In any case, I feel Christians should follow the teachings of Christ.  
If he had something to say on the issue, he would have SAID it!
