Day 275, 2 October 2025 1) Luke 5:1-11, Mark 1:40-45, Matthew 8:1-4, Luke 5:12-16, Mark 2:1-12, Matthew 9:1-8, Luke 5:17-26, Mark 2:13-17, Matthew 9:9-13, Luke 5:27-32, Mark 2:18-22, Matthew 9:14-17, Luke 5:33-39 Luke 5:1-11 The Calling of the First Disciples Mt 4:18-22; Mk 1:16-20 1 (Nu 34:11; Jos 12:3) As the people pressed upon Him to hear the word of God, He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret 2 (Mk 1:19; Mt 4:21) and saw two boats beside the lake. But the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. 3 He entered one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to thrust it out a little from the land. Then He sat down and taught the people from the boat. 4 (Jn 21:6) When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." 5 (Jn 21:3) Simon answered Him, "Master, we have worked all night and have caught nothing. But at Your word I will let down the net." 6 When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was tearing. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. 8 (Isa 6:5) When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord." 9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken, 10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, "Do not fear. From now on you will catch men." 11 (Mt 4:20; 19:27) So when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him. [1] And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, [2] And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. [3] And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. [4] Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. [5] And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. [6] And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. [7] And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. [8] When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. [9] For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: [10] And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. [11] And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him. Mark 1:40-45 The Cleansing of a Leper Mt 8:1-4; Lk 5:12-16 40 (Mk 10:17; Mt 8:2-4) A leper came to Him, pleading with Him and kneeling before Him, saying, "If You are willing, You can make me clean." 41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, extended His hand and touched him, and said to him, "I will. Be clean." 42 As soon as He had spoken, the leprosy immediately departed from him, and he was cleansed. 43 (Mt 9:30) He sternly warned him, and sent him away at once, 44 (Mt 8:4; Lk 17:14)saying, "See that you say nothing to anyone. But go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them." 45 (Mk 2:13; Mt 9:31) Instead he went out and began to proclaim it widely and to spread the news around, so that Jesus could no more openly enter the city, but was out in remote places. And they came to Him from every quarter. [40] And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. [41] And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. [42] And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. [43] And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away; [44] And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. [45] But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter. Matthew 8:1-4 The Cleansing of a Leper Mk 1:40-45; Lk 5:12-16 1 When He came down from the mountains, large crowds followed Him. 2 (Mt 18:26; 15:25) And then a leper came and worshipped Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." 3 Jesus reached out His hand and touched him, saying, "I will. Be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 (Lev 14:2-32; Mt 9:30) Then Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one. But go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded as a testimony to them." [1] When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. [2] And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. [3] And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. [4] And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. Luke 5:12-16 The Cleansing of a Leper Mt 8:1-4; Mk 1:40-45 12 (Mt 8:2-4; 9:28) When He was in a certain city, a man full of leprosy, upon seeing Jesus, fell on his face and begged Him, "Lord, if You will, You can make me clean." 13 He reached out His hand and touched him, saying, "I will. Be clean." And immediately the leprosy left him. 14 (Lev 14:2-32; Mt 8:4) Then He commanded him to tell no one, "But go and show yourself to the priest and make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them." 15 (Mt 9:26) Yet even more so His fame went everywhere. And great crowds came together to hear and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. 16 (Mt 14:23; Lk 6:12) But He withdrew to the wilderness and prayed. [12] And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. [13] And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. [14] And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. [15] But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. [16] And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed. Mark 2:1-12 The Healing of a Paralytic Mt 9:1-8; Lk 5:17-26 1 (Mt 9:1) Again, He entered Capernaum after some days. And it was reported that He was in the house. 2 (Mk 1:45; 2:13) Immediately many were gathered together, so that there was no room to receive them, not even at the door. And He preached the word to them. 3 (Lk 5:18-26) They came to Him bringing one sick with paralysis, who was carried by four men. 4 (Lk 5:19) When they could not come near Him due to the crowding, they uncovered the roof where He was. When they had broken it open, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. 5 (Mt 9:2; 9:22) When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven you." 6 But some of the scribes were sitting there, reasoning in their hearts, 7 (Isa 43:25; Mk 14:64; Jn 10:36) "Why does this Man speak such blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?" 8 Immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, He said to them, "Why do you contemplate these things in your hearts? 9 Which is easier to say to the paralytic: 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your bed and walk'? 10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins," He said to the paralytic, 11 "I say to you, rise, and take up your bed, and go your way to your house." 12 (Mt 9:8; 9:33) Immediately he rose, picked up the bed, and went out in front of them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!" [1] And again he entered into Capernaum, after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. [2] And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. [3] And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. [4] And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. [5] When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. [6] But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, [7] Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? [8] And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? [9] Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? [10] But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) [11] I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. [12] And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion. Matthew 9:1-8 The Healing of a Paralytic Mk 2:1-12; Lk 5:17-26 1 (Mt 4:13; Mk 5:21) He entered a boat, crossed over, and came into His own city. 2 (Mt 9:22; 4:24; 8:10) They brought to Him a man sick with paralysis, lying on a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Son, be of good cheer. Your sins are forgiven you." 3 (Mt 26:65) Then certain scribes said within themselves, "This Man blasphemes." 4 (Mt 12:25; Lk 6:8) Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you' or to say, 'Arise and walk'? 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" then He said to the paralytic, "Arise, pick up your bed, and go into your house." 7 And he rose and departed to his house. 8 (Mt 15:31; Lk 7:16; 17:15) But when the crowds saw it, they were amazed and glorified God who had given such authority to men. [1] And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city. [2] And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. [3] And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. [4] And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? [5] For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? [6] But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. [7] And he arose, and departed to his house. [8] But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men. Luke 5:17-26 The Healing of a Paralytic Mt 9:1-8; Mk 2:1-12 17 (Mt 15:1; Lk 6:19) On a certain day, as He was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting nearby, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal the sick. 18 (Mt 9:2-8; Mk 2:3-12) Now some men brought in a bed a man who was paralyzed. They searched for ways to bring him in and lay him before Him. 19 (Mk 2:4; Dt 22:8) When they could not find a way to bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his bed into their midst before Jesus. 20 (Lk 7:48; Mt 9:2) When He saw their faith, He said to him, "Man, your sins are forgiven you." 21 (Isa 43:25; Ps 32:5) The scribes and the Pharisees began to question, "Who is He who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?" 22 When Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered them, "Why question in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise up and walk'? 24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins," He said to the paralyzed man, "I say to you, rise, take up your bed, and go to your house." 25 Immediately he rose before them, and took up that on which he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. 26(Mt 9:8; Lk 7:16) They were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, "We have seen wonderful things today." [17] And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. [18] And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. [19] And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. [20] And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. [21] And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? [22] But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? [23] Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? [24] But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. [25] And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. [26] And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day. Mark 2:13-17 The Calling of Levi Mt 9:9-13; Lk 5:27-32 13 (Mk 1:45) He went out again by the seaside, and the whole crowd came to Him, and He taught them. 14 (Mk 3:18) As He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector's station, and He said to him, "Follow Me." And he rose and followed Him. 15 As Jesus was at supper in his house, many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples. For there were many, and they followed Him. 16 (Ac 23:9) When the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, "How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?" 17 (Mt 9:12-13; Lk 5:31-32) When Jesus heard it, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." [13] And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them. [14] And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. [15] And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. [16] And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? [17] When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Matthew 9:9-13 The Calling of Matthew Mk 2:13-17; Lk 5:27-32 9 As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's station. And He said to him, "Follow Me." And he rose and followed Him. 10 While Jesus sat at supper in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. 11 (Mt 11:19; Lk 5:30) When the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" 12 (Mk 2:17; Lk 5:31) But when Jesus heard that, He said to them, "Those who are well do not need a physician, but those who are sick. 13 (Hos 6:6; Mt 12:7) But go and learn what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.'Hos 6:6. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance." [9] And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. [10] And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. [11] And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? [12] But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. [13] But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Luke 5:27-32 The Calling of Levi Mt 9:9-13; Mk 2:13-17 27 After these things He went out and saw a tax collector, named Levi, sitting at the tax collector's station. He said to him, "Follow Me." 28 (Lk 5:11) And he left everything, rose up, and followed Him. 29 (Lk 15:1) Then Levi made Him a great feast in his house. And there was a group of many tax collectors and others who sat down with them. 30 (Ac 23:9) But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against His disciples, saying, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?" 31 (Mt 9:12-13; Mk 2:17) Jesus answered them, "Those who are well do not need a physician, but those who are sick. 32 (Lk 15:7; 15:10) I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." [27] And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me. [28] And he left all, rose up, and followed him. [29] And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them. [30] But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? [31] And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. [32] I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Mark 2:18-22 The Question About Fasting Mt 9:14-17; Lk 5:33-39 18 (Mt 6:16; 6:18) Now the disciples of John and of the Pharisees were fasting. And people came and said to Him, "Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?" 19 Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. 20 (Lk 17:22) But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days. 21 "No one sews a piece of new cloth on an old garment, or else the new piece that covered it tears away from the old, and the tear is made worse. 22 (Jos 9:4) And no one pours new wine into old wineskins, or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, and the wine is spilled, and the wineskins will be marred. But new wine must be poured into new wineskins." [18] And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not? [19] And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. [20] But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. [21] No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. [22] And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles. Matthew 9:14-17 The Question About Fasting Mk 2:18-22; Lk 5:33-39 14 (Mt 11:2; Jn 3:25) Then the disciples of John came to Him, asking, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?" 15 (Jn 3:29; Ac 14:23) Jesus answered, "Can the guests of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and then they will fast. 16 "No one sews a piece of new cloth into an old garment, for that which is sewn in to fill it up pulls on the garment, and the tear is made worse. 17 (Jos 9:4) Neither do men put new wine into old wineskins. Or else the wineskins burst, the wine runs out, and the wineskins perish. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved." [14] Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? [15] And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast. [16] No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. [17] Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved. Luke 5:33-39 The Question About Fasting Mt 9:14-17; Mk 2:18-22 33 (Lk 11:1; 18:12) They said to Him, "Why do the disciples of John fast often and offer prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees, but Yours eat and drink?" 34 (Jn 3:29) He said to them, "Can you make the attendants of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them? 35 (Lk 17:22) But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them. Then in those days they will fast." 36 He told them a parable also: "No one sews a piece of a new material on an old one. Otherwise the new would tear, for the new piece does not match the old. 37 (Jos 9:4) And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise the new wine will burst the wineskins, and it will be spilled, and the wineskins will be destroyed. 38 But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved. 39 And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new. For he says, 'The old is better.' " [33] And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink? [34] And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? [35] But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. [36] And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. [37] And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. [38] But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. [39] No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better. 2) Our Daily Bread for 2 October 2025 Titled Remaining Teachable in God by Karen Pimpo Proverbs 9:1-6, 13-18 he Way of Wisdom 1 (Eph 2:20-22; Mt 16:18) Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars; 2 (Pr 23:30) she has killed her beasts, she has mixed her wine, she has also furnished her table. 3 (Pr 9:14; 8:1-3) She has sent out her maidens, she cries out from the highest places of the city, 4 (Pr 6:32; 9:16) "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here." As for him who wants understanding, she says to him, 5 (SS 5:1; Jn 6:27) "Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mixed. 6 Forsake foolishness and live, and go in the way of understanding." The Way of Foolishness 13 (Pr 7:11; 5:6 ) A foolish woman is clamorous; she is simple, and knows nothing. 14 (Pr 9:3) For she sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, 15 to call those who pass by who go right on their way: 16 "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here." And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him, 17 (Pr 20:17; 30:20) "Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant." 18 (Pr 7:27) But he does not know that the dead are there, and that her guests are in the depths of the grave. 1 Wisdom hath builded her house, She hath hewn out her seven pillars: 2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; She hath also furnished her table. 3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth Upon the highest places of the city, 4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: As for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, 5 Come, eat of my bread, And drink of the wine which I have mingled. 6 Forsake the foolish, and live; And go in the way of understanding. 13 A foolish woman is clamorous: She is simple, and knoweth nothing. 14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, On a seat in the high places of the city, 15 To call passengers Who go right on their ways: 16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: And as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, 17 Stolen waters are sweet, And bread eaten in secret is pleasant. 18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; And that her guests are in the depths of hell. After Kat learned she was pregnant, she dropped out of high school to care for her daughter. Fifteen years later, Kat was a working mother of three who dreamed of becoming a licensed beautician. With humility and tenacity, she became a student again in a free GED support program. It was humbling to go back to school after so long. "This programme changed my life!" Kat said. My teacher was amazing and offered so much encouragement." Remaining teachable may be one of the most difficult things we can do. The Bible speaks of having a teachable heart that's open to God's wisdom. The poetry of Proverbs paints a picture of two women calling out to passersby - Wisdom and Folly (Proverbs 9:1-6; 13-18). Those who listen to Wisdom receive correction with grace. They "add to their learning" and become even wiser (v. 9). They habitually "walk in the way of insight" (v. 6) and seat themselves at Wisdom's table for instruction. Their obedience leads to a full life (v. 11). In contrast, those who listen to Folly hate being corrected or criticised. They insult anyone who tries to instruct them (vv. 7-8). Humility comes from fearing God - acknowledging that He's "the Holy One" and we are not (v. 10). It's not easy to stay teachable, but it also brings freedom to admit we don't know it all and we still need help. Wisdom calls to us. How will we respond? Reflect & Pray What's your default reaction to criticism? How could a humble response lead to growth and victory? Receiving instruction doesn't always come naturally to me, wise Father, but I trust Your ways. For further study, read An Invitation to Wisdom. 3) From The Billy Graham Evangelical Ministry Association Words in Season - Scripture Memory Tools Week 3 - Saved Now and Forever - Day 5 - God Loved, So He Gave John 3:16-17 16 (Ro 5:8; 1Jn 4:9-10; Jn 1:18) "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. 17 (1Jn 4:14; Lk 19:10) For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Often called "the gospel in a nutshell", John 3:16 is so familiar, even the unchurched, that it has all but lost its impact for us. WE cite it by rote, as if it had no more meaning than a SSN (SIN), and think that we understand the truth because we know the words. Why did God send Jesus, his only Son, into the world to die? Because he loved the people he created. God had no reason, humanly speaking, to love mankind. Throughout history, from the Garden of Eden forward, people had deliberately turned against God and tried his patience. Even the nation God chose for himself, Israel rebelled against the Lord and turned to other gods. And we, as individuals, have rebelled against him too. WE have tried to control our own lives; we have denied his reality; or acknowledged his existence and then systematically ignored him. We have become our own gods. Yet Christ, in love, took upon himself the rejection, the humiliation, the pain we were responsible for. We deserved to be condemned to die, but he died for us instead. "God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world," John 3:17 says, "but that the world through Him might be saved." Often, even after we have committed our lives to Christ, we mistakenly suppose that God's primary purpose is to condemn us - to catch us in sin and punish us. But God says that his purpose is to love us and to save us from sin and ourselves. He loved, and so he gave; he still loves us, and he still continues to give. Application a) What sin in my life put Jesus on the cross? b) How do I know that my sins has been forgiven? c) How can these verses help me when I face condemnation and guilt? 4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland Malachi 3:10-12 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this, says the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing, that there will not be room enough to receive it. 11 I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that it will not destroy the fruit of your ground, and the vines in your field will not fail to bear fruit, says the Lord of Hosts. 12 Then all the nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land, says the Lord of Hosts. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. 12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts. 5) From a Book called God's Promises for you: When you are Worried Over Money Matt 6:19-21 Treasures in Heaven Lk 12:33-34 19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroy and where thieves do not break in nor steal, 21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Remember God's promises when You pray The Lord's prayer Matthew 6:9-13 9 "Therefore pray in this manner: Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. 10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. 11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread. 12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen." 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2021 edition?) Prince Edward Island Total population 146300 Muslim population (est.) 1127 Charlottetown does not currently (fall 2014) have a local CNMM network. Pray with us for God's people to come together in reaching Muslims cooperatively across denominational and organisational lines. More than 200 attended the Eid festival at the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting during daylight hours and the reading of the Qur'an, at the Dar as-Salam mosque in 2014. This second mosque established in Charlottetown, the other being the Muslims Association of PEI. As of mid-2014,there are between 250 to 300 families, mostly in Charlottetown. The Muslims of Charlottetown see their community as symbolically important for this nation since this is known as the "birthplace of Canada". Yet we were established as the "Dominion of Canada" with an appeal not only to monarchial authority, but even more to God's higher Biblical authority as shown in Psalm 72:8, "May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth." Let us intercede together for: - the growing Muslim population of Charlottetown and spreading outward through PEI to encounter the Prince of Peace. - believers to have faith and vision to reach out to the Muslim Community in contextual ways to share the Gospel - churches and ministries to rise up in wisdom, knowledge and understanding, giving and training, coaching and encouragement to believers reaching out to Muslims locally. - a prayer movement to be established, feeding a growing move of Yahweh's Spirit in His churches and people , and an awakening an openness and spiritual hunger in Muslims for relationship with the Father through the Son. Adding further 30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020 Under the Keep Praying page When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and, of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be decorated and festivals will be held. For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam. You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak", which means Blessed Eid!" Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you know, and Muslims around the world: - Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue. Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other, "What does this mean?" 13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine." Peter's Speech at Pentecost 14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God, 'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.' - Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective discipleship movements among Muslim people. - Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus. Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the house." Ideas for prayer - Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you - Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving Christ among Muslim people - Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality." - When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!
