Matthew 20:1-16

Matthew 20
The Workers in the Vineyard

1 (SS 8:11-12; Mt 13:24) “For the kingdom of heaven is like
a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers
for his vineyard.
2 When he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day,
he sent them into his vineyard.
3 "Then he went out about the third hour and saw others standing
idle in the marketplace,
4 and said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard,
and whatever is right I will give you.' So they went.
5 Again he went out about the sixth hour and the ninth hour
and did likewise.
6 "About the eleventh hour he went out and found others
standing idle, and said to them, 'Why do you stand here idle all day?'
7 "They said to him, 'Because no one has hired us.'
"He said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard,
and whatever is right you will receive.'
8 (Lev 19:13; Dt 24:15) "So when evening came, the owner of the vineyard
said to his steward, 'Call the laborers and give them their wages,
beginning with the last to the first.'
9 "When they who were hired about the eleventh hour came,
they each received a denarius.
10 But when the first came, they supposed that they would
receive more, but each of them likewise received a denarius.
11 When they received it, they grumbled against the landowner,
12 (Lk 12:55; Jas 1:11) saying, 'These last worked only one hour,
and you made them equal to us, who have borne the burden
and the heat of the day.'
13 (Mt 22:12; 26:50) "But he answered one of them,
'Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius?
14 Take what is yours and go your way.
I will give to this last one even as I give to you.
15 (Dt 15:9; Mt 6:23) Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish
with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?'
16 (Mt 19:30; Mk 10:31) "So the last will be first, and the first last.
For many are called, but few are chosen."

[12] Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made
them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.
[13] But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong:
didst not thou agree with me for a penny?
[14] Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as
unto thee.
[15] Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye
evil, because I am good?
[16] So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but
few chosen. 

Mark 10:32-34

Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection a Third Time
Mt 20:17-19; Lk 18:31-34

32 (Mt 20:17-19; Lk 9:51) They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem,
and Jesus went ahead of them. And they were amazed,
and those who followed were afraid. Again, He took the twelve aside
and began to tell them what would happen to Him,
33 (Mt 27:2; 16:21) saying, "Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem.
The Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes,
and they will condemn Him to death and hand Him over to the Gentiles.
34 (Mt 16:21; 26:67) They will mock Him, and scourge Him,
and spit on Him, and kill Him. Then after three days He will rise." 

[32] And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before
them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he
took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto
him,
[33] Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be
delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall
condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:
[34] And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon
him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again. 

Matthew 20:17-19

A Third Time Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection
Mk 10:32-34; Lk 18:31-34

17 (Mk 10:32-34) As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem,
He took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them,
18 (Mt 16:21; 26:66) "Now we are going up to Jerusalem,
and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and scribes.
And they will condemn Him to death
19 (Mt 16:21; Mk 15:16-20; Mt 27:27-31) and deliver Him to the Gentiles
to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him,
but on the third day He will rise." 

[17] And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the
way, and said unto them,
[18] Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed
unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to
death,
[19] And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to
crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. 

Luke 18:31-34

Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection a Third Time
Mt 20:17-19; Mk 10:32-34

31 (Ps 22:1-31; Isa 53:1-12) Taking the twelve, He said,
"Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem,
and everything that is written by the prophets
concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished,
32 (Lk 23:11; Mt 26:67) for He will be handed over to the Gentiles
and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon.
33 They will scourge Him and put Him to death,
and on the third day He will rise again."
34 (Mk 9:32; Lk 9:45) They understood none of these things.
This saying was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend what was spoken.

[31] Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up
to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the
Son of man shall be accomplished.
[32] For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and
spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
[33] And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he
shall rise again.
[34] And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from
them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.  

Mark 10:35-45

The Request of James and John
Mt 20:20-28

35 (Mt 20:20-28) Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him,
saying, "Teacher, we want that whatever we may ask, You would do for us."
36 (Mk 10:51) He said to them, "What do you want Me to do for you?
37 (Mt 19:28) They said to Him, "Grant us to sit, one at Your right hand
and the other at Your left hand, in Your glory.:
38 (Lk 12:50; Isa 51:22) But Jesus said to them, "You do not know
what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I drink
and be baptised with the baptism with which I am baptized?"
39 (Ac 12:2; Rev 1:9) They said to Him, "We can."
Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink the cup that I drink
and be baptised with the baptism with which I am baptized.
40 (Mt 25:34) But to sit at My right hand or at My left hand is not Mine
to grant. It is for those for whom it has been prepared."
41 When the ten heard it, they began to be very displeased
with James and John.
42 (Lk 22:25; 1Pe 5:3) But Jesus called them together, and said,
"You know that those who are appointed to rule over the Gentiles
lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.
43 (Mk 9:35; Lk 9:48) But it shall not be so among you.
Whoever would be great among you must be your servant,
44 and whoever among you would be greatest must be servant of all.
45 (Mt 20:28; Isa 53:10-12) For even the Son of Man came not
to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

[35] And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master,
we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
[36] And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?
[37] They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right
hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
[38] But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the
cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized
with?
[39] And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall
indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am
baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
[40] But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give;
but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

Matthew 20:20-34

A Mother's Request
Mk 10:35-45

20 (Mt 4:21; 8:2) Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came
to Him with her sons. And kneeling before Him,
she asked for a certain thing.
21 (Mt 19:28) He said to her, "What do you want?"
She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit,
one at Your right hand and one at Your left, in Your kingdom."
22 (Mt 26:42; Lk 22:42) But Jesus answered, "You do not know
what you are asking. Are you able to drink from the cup that
I am to drink, and to be baptized with the baptism
that I am baptized with?"
They said to Him, "We are able."
23 (Ac 12:2; Rev 1:9) He said to them, "You will indeed drink
from My cup and be baptieed with the baptism that I am baptized with.
But to sit at My right hand and at My left is not Mine to grant,
but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father."
24 When the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation
against the two brothers.
25 (Lk 22:25-27; Mt 18:3-4) But Jesus called them to Him and said,
"You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them,
and those who are great exercise authority over them.
26 (Mk 9:35; 10:43) It shall not be so among you.
Whoever would be great among you, let him serve you,
27 and whoever would be first among you, let him be your slave,
28 (Heb 9:28; Mt 26:28; 1Ti 2:6) even as the Son of Man did not
come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many."

[20] Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons,
worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
[21] And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that
these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the
left, in thy kingdom.
[22] But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to
drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism
that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
[23] And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be
baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right

the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise

[28] Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister,
and to give his life a ransom for many. 

The Healing of Two Blind Men
Mk 10:46-52; Lk 18:35-43

29 (Mk 10:46-52; Lk 18:35-43) As they departed from Jericho,
a large crowd followed Him.
30 (Mt 21:9; 22:42) There, two blind men sitting by the road,
when they heard that ­Jesus was passing by, cried out,
"Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!"
31 (Mt 19:13) The crowd rebuked them, that they should be silent.
But they cried out even more, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!"
32 Jesus stood still and called them, saying,
"What do you want Me to do for you?"
33 They said to Him, "Lord, let our eyes be opened."
34 So Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes.
Immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him. 

[29] And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.
[30] And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard
that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son
of David.
[31] And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace:
but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of
David.
[32] And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I
shall do unto you?
[33] They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
[34] So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and
immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. 

Mark 10:46-52

The Healing of Blind Bartimaeus
Mt 20:29-34; Lk 18:35-43

46 (Mt 20:29-34; Jn 9:8) Then they came to Jericho. And as He went out
of Jericho with His disciples and a great number of people,
blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat along the way begging.
47 (Mt 9:27; Mk 1:24) When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to cry out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
48 (Mt 19:13) Many ordered him to keep silent. But he cried out even more,
"Son of David, have mercy on me!"
49 Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called.
So they called the blind man, saying,
"Be of good comfort. Rise, He is calling you."
50 Throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.
51 (Mk 10:36) Jesus answered him, "What do you want Me to do for you?"
The blind man said to Him, "Rabbi, that I might receive my sight."
52 (Mt 9:22; Mk 5:34) Jesus said to him,
"Go your way. Your faith has made you well."
Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the way. 

[46] And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his
disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of
Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
[47] And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out,
and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
[48] And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the
more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
[49] And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call
the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
[50] And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
[51] And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do
unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
[52] And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.
And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way. 

Luke 18:35-43

The Healing of a Blind Beggar Near Jericho
Mt 20:29-34; Mk 10:46-52

35 (Jn 9:8) As He was drawing near Jericho, a certain blind man
sat along the way begging.
36 Hearing a crowd passing by, he asked what it meant.
37 (Mt 2:23)They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
38 (Mt 9:27) He cried out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
39 (Lk 18:15) Those who went in front rebuked him,
so that he would keep quiet. But he cried out much more,
"Son of David, have mercy on me!"
40 Jesus stood and commanded him to be brought to Him.
When he came near, He asked him,
41 "What do you want Me to do for you?"
He said, "Lord, grant that I may receive my sight."
42 (Mt 9:22; Lk 7:50) Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight.
Your faith has saved you."
43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Him,
glorifying God. When all the people saw it, they gave praise to God.

[35] And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain
blind man sat by the way side begging:
[36] And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
[37] And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.
[38] And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
[39] And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace:
but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
[40] And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he
was come near, he asked him,
[41] Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord,
that I may receive my sight.
[42] And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

Luke 19:1-27

Jesus and Zacchaeus

1 (Lk 18:35) Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
2 A man was there named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector,
and he was rich.
3 (Jn 12:21) He tried to see who Jesus was, but was not able
from the crowd, because he was little in stature.
4 (1Ki 10:27; 1Ch 27:28) So he ran ahead and climbed up into
a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was to pass that way.
5 When Jesus came to the vicinity, He looked up and saw him,
and said to him, "Zacchaeus, hurry and come down,
for today I must remain at your house."
6 So he hurried and came down, and received Him joyfully.
7 (Mt 9:11; Lk 15:2) When they saw it, they all murmured, saying,
"He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner."
8 (2Sa 12:6) But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give
half of my possessions to the poor. And if I have taken anything from anyone
by false accusation, I will repay him four times as much."
9 (Ro 4:16; Gal 3:7) Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this
house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
10 (Eze 34:16; Mt 10:6) For the Son of Man has come to seek
and to save that which was lost."

[3] And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press,
because he was little of stature.
[4] And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for
he was to pass that way.
[5] And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said
unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at
thy house.
[6] And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
[7] And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be
guest with a man that is a sinner.
[8] And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of
my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by
false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
[9] And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house,
forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
[10] For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.


The Parable of the Ten Pounds
Mt 25:14-30

11 (Lk 17:20; Ac 1:6) As they heard these things, He continued
and told them a parable, because He was near Jerusalem a
nd because they thought the kingdom of God would immediately appear.
12 (Mt 25:14-30) Therefore He said, "A nobleman went to a distant country
to receive a kingdom and to return.
13 So he called his ten servants and entrusted to them ten pounds
(Gk. mina, worth about 3 months' wages.) and said to them,
'Trade until I come.'
14 "But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying,
'We do not want this man to reign over us.'
15 "When he returned, having received the kingdom, he summoned these servants,
to whom he had entrusted the money, that he might know what everyone gained
by trading.
16 "The first came, saying, 'Master, your pound has made ten pounds more.'
17 (Lk 16:10; Mt 25:21) "He said to him,
'Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in very little,
take authority over ten cities.'
18 "The second came, saying, 'Master, your pound has made five pounds more.'
19 "He said in like manner to him, 'You, take authority over five cities.'
20 "Then another came, saying, 'Master, look, here is your pound,
which I have kept put away in a napkin.
21 For I feared you, because you are an exacting man.
You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.'
22 (2Sa 1:16) "He said to him, 'Out of your own mouth will I judge you,
you wicked servant. You knew that I was an exacting man,
collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow.
23 Why then did you not deposit my money in the bank,
so that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?'
24 "Then he said to those who stood by,
'Take the pound from him and give it to him who has ten pounds.'
25 "They said to him, 'Master, he has ten pounds.'
26 (Mt 13:12; Lk 8:18) " 'I tell you that to everyone who has will be given.
But from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away from him.
27 (Mt 22:7; Lk 19:14) But as for those enemies of mine, who would not let
me reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me.' " 

[11] And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because
he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God
should immediately appear.
[12] He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to
receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
[13] And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said
unto them, Occupy till I come.
[14] But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We
will not have this man to reign over us.
[15] And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the
kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he
had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by
trading.
[16] Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
[17] And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been
faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
[18] And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
[19] And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
[20] And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have
kept laid up in a napkin:
[21] For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that
thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
[22] And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou
wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I
laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
[23] Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my
coming I might have required mine own with usury?
[24] And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give
it to him that hath ten pounds.
[25] (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
[26] For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and
from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
[27] But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them,
bring hither, and slay them before me.

1 Timothy 1:12-20

Thankfulness for Mercy

12 (Php 4:13; Ac 9:15) I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has enabled me,
because He counted me faithful and appointed me to the ministry.
13 (Ac 8:3; 3:17) I was previously a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and an
insolent man. But I was shown mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
14 (2Ti 1:13) The grace of our Lord overflowed with the faith
and love which is in Christ Jesus.
15 (1Ti 3:1; 2Ti 2:11) This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst.
16 (1Ti 1:13; Eph 2:7) But I received mercy for this reason, that in me,
first, Jesus Christ might show all patience, as an example to those who were
to believe in Him for eternal life.
17 (Col 1:15; Mt 6:13) Now to the eternal, immortal, invisible King, the only
wise God, be honor and glory forever. Amen.
18 (1Ti 4:14; 1:2) This command I commit to you, my son Timothy, according
to the prophecies that were previously given to you, that by them you might
fight a good fight,
19 (1Ti 1:5; 3:9) keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have
rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith.
20 (2Ti 2:17; Ac 13:45) Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have
delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.

[12] And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he

As a boy, I loved reading stories about pirates. How those adventures spurred 
my imagination! Now I live in an area where one of the most infamous of those 
pirates - Blackbeard (real name, Edward Teach) - had his headquarters. 
Shipwrecked in the waters off the coast here is Blackbeard's ship, 
the Queen Anne's Revenge.

We can easily romanticise the wrecks and the high-sea adventures of history. 
The apostle Paul, however, wrote about a very different kind of shipwreck that
provides us with a caution and an exhortation. In his first letter to Timothy, 
Paul warned his son in the faith to "[hold] on to faith and a good conscience,
which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard 
to the faith" (1 Timothy 1:19). What is this "shipwreck"? Two men, Hymenaeus 
and Alexander, had in some devastating way departed from the true faith, 
and the apostle turned them over to 
Satan "to be taught not to blaspheme" (v. 20). Paul desired them to repent, 
but the consequences of their actions were dire.

Our faith isn't static, nor can it exist in a vacuum. We must actively nurture
and cultivate our relationship with God to grow strong and healthy in faith 
and good conscience. May we join with other believers, yield to God's Spirit, 
and allow Him to work in us. We can avoid shipwreck.

Week 6 Showing Grace to Others - Day 6 Reconciliation

2 Cor 5:18-19

18 All this is from God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ
and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation,
19 that is, that God was
in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their sins
against them, and has entrusted to us the message of reconciliation.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus
Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself,
not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us
the word of reconciliation.

When Paul writes in 2 Cor 5:17 that we become a "new creation" in Christ
Jesus, the story does not end there. The verses following give us direction
for tht new life in Christ. "All This", Paul says, referring to the miracle of
new life in Christ, "is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ
and gave us the ministry of reconciliation."
Reconciliation means to bring back together what was once separated. Man was
separated from God by sin, and God took the initiative to reconcile man to
himself. Our "ministry of reconciliation" as Christians is twofold: to draw
others to the Lord and to work for reconciliation between individuals.
Reconciliation is the ultimate goal of forgiveness. God, through his grace ,
extends forgiveness to us when we are still sinners, unrepentant,
undeserving. When we respond, we come into reconciliation with him
and are brought back into oneness. Likewise, when we extend the grace
of forgiveness to another, we are set free by the act of forgiving, but we
hope that the ultimate outcome will be reconciliation.
God shows us the pattern: he is the wronged party, yet he does not wait for
the offender to come to him, hat in hand. He takes a bold initiative, offering
forgiveness freely with out regard to merit. The pattern applies to us;
as the new life in Christ takes hold of us, we must reach out, and reach,
and keep on reaching, breaking down the barriers, taking the risk of
rejection so that we may come to reconciliation.

reconciliation to them?

c) What kind of attitude do I need to be a "minister of reconciliation"?

Charlottetown does not currently (fall 2014) have a local CNMM network.
Pray with us for God's people to come together in reaching Muslims
cooperatively across denominational and organisational lines.

More than 200 attended the Eid festival at the end of Ramadan, the Islamic
month of fasting during daylight hours and the reading of the Qur'an, at
the Dar as-Salam mosque in 2014. This second mosque established
in Charlottetown, the other being the Muslims Association of PEI.
As of mid-2014,there are between 250 to 300 families, mostly in Charlottetown.

The Muslims of Charlottetown see their community as symbolically important
for this nation since this is known as the "birthplace of Canada". Yet we were
established as the "Dominion of Canada" with an appeal not only to
monarchial authority, but even more to God's higher Biblical authority as
shown in Psalm 72:8, "May he have dominion from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth."
Let us intercede together for:

- the growing Muslim population of Charlottetown and spreading
outward through PEI to encounter the Prince of Peace.
- believers to have faith and vision to reach out to the Muslim Community
in contextual ways to share the Gospel
- churches and ministries to rise up in wisdom, knowledge and understanding,
giving and training, coaching and encouragement to believers reaching
out to Muslims locally.
- a prayer movement to be established, feeding a growing move of Yahweh's
Spirit in His churches and people , and an awakening an openness
and spiritual hunger in Muslims for relationship with the Father
through the Son.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

Peter's Speech at Pentecost

14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice
and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,
let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,
since it is the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,
'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

I) Pray for the leaders of Saskatchewan,
that God's Spirit would influence
then to act justly,

prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone,
2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings and for all who are in authority,
that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty,
3(1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good
and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all men to be saved
and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

that they would be lighthouses

and booklet to turn many hearts to Jesus

Conclusion:

Pray to the Lord and pray to be humble in the eyes of the Lord 
and to heal in the name of the Lord. 

Pray to the Lord: "Wise Father, may Your Spirit work in my 
heart to keep me close to You and growing in my faith."

Pray to the Lord and pray to be a minister of reconciliation.

Pray to the Lord and pray to know the reward of his blessings.

Pray to the Lord and pray to know His provisions.
