Day 301, 28 October 2025 1) Mark 12:28-34, Matthew 22:34-40, Mark 12:35-37, Matthew 22:41-46, Luke 20:41-44, Mark 12:38-40, ,Matthew 23:1-12, Luke 20:45-47, Matthew 23:13-39, Mark 12:41-44, Luke 21:1-4, Matthew 21:28-32 Mark 12:28-34 The Great Commandment Mt 22:34-40; Lk 10:25-28 28 (Mt 22:34-40; Lk 10:25-28) One of the scribes came and heard them reasoning together. Perceiving that Jesus had answered them well, he asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?" 29 (Dt 6:4; Lk 10:27) Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is, 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord. 30 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' (Dt 6:4-5.) This is the first commandment. 31 (Lev 19:18; Mt 7:12) The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself.'(Lev 19:18.) There is no other commandment greater than these." 32 (Dt 4:35; 4:39)The scribe said to Him, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, that there is one God and there is no other but Him. 33 (1Sa 15:22; Hos 6:6) To love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices." 34 (Mt 22:46; Lk 20:40) When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." After that, no one dared to ask Him any question. [28] And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? [29] And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: [30] And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. [31] And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. [32] And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: [33] And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. [34] And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question. Matthew 22:34-40 The Great Commandment Mk 12:28-34; Lk 10:25-28 34 When the Pharisees heard that He silenced the Sadducees, they came together. 35 (Lk 7:30; 14:3) One of them, who was a lawyer, tested Him by asking Him, 36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?" 37 (Dt 6:5; Lk 10:27) Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'(Dt 6:5.) 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 (Lev 19:18; Mt 19:19; Gal 5:14) And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' (Lev 19:18.) 40 (Mt 7:12) On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." [34] But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. [35] Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, [36] Master, which is the great commandment in the law? [37] Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Mark 12:35-37 The Question About David's Son Mt 22:41-46; Lk 20:41-44 35 (Lk 20:41-44; Mt 26:55) While Jesus taught in the temple, He said, "How can the scribes say that Christ is the Son of David? 36 (Ps 110:1; 2Sa 23:2) David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared: 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, until I put Your enemies under Your feet." ' (Ps 110:1.) 37 (Ro 1:3-4) David himself calls Him 'Lord.' How then is He his Son?" And the large crowd heard him gladly. [35] And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David? [36] For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool. [37] David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly. Matthew 22:41-46 The Question About David's Son Mk 12:35-37; Lk 20:41-44 41 (Mk 12:35-37; Lk 20:41-44) While the Pharisees were assembled, ¬≠Jesus asked them, 42 (Mt 1:1) "What do you think of the Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "The Son of David." 43 (2Sa 23:2; Rev 4:2) He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him 'Lord,' saying: 44 (Ps 110:1; 1Co 15:25; Heb 1:13) 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool"'? (Ps 110:1). 45 (Ro 1:3-4) If David then calls Him 'Lord,' how is He his Son?" 46 (Mk 12:34; Lk 20:40) No one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare to ask Him any more questions. [41] While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, [42] Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. [43] He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, [44] The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? [45] If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? [46] And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions. Luke 20:41-44 The Question About David's Son Mt 22:41-46; Mk 12:35-37 41 (Mt 1:1; Mk 12:35-37) Then Jesus said to them, "How do they say that Christ is David's Son? 42 (Ps 110:1; Ac 2:34-35) David himself says in the Book of Psalms, 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, 43 until I make Your enemies Your footstool."(Ps 110:1.)' 44 David therefore calls Him 'Lord.' How is He then his Son?" [41] And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son? [42] And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, [43] Till I make thine enemies thy footstool. [44] David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son? Mark 12:38-40 The Denouncing of the Scribes Mt 23:1-36; Lk 20:45-47 38 (Lk 11:43; Mt 23:1-7) He said to them in His teaching, "Beware of the scribes, who love to go about in long robes and love greetings in the marketplaces, 39 and the prominent seats in the synagogues, and the places of honor at banquets, 40 (Lk 20:47; Mt 6:7) who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive greater condemnation." [38] And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces, [39] And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts: [40] Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation. Matthew 23:1-12 The Denouncing of the Scribes and Pharisees Mk 12:38-40; Lk 11:37-52; 20:45-47 1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to His disciples, 2 (Ezr 7:6; 7:25) "The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. 3 Therefore, whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do their works. For they speak, but do nothing. 4 (Lk 11:46; Ac 15:10) They fasten heavy loads that are hard to carry and lay them on men's shoulders, but they themselves will not move them with their finger. 5 (Dt 6:8; Mt 9:20) "They do all their works to be seen by men. They make their Scripture boxes broad and lengthen the tassels on their prayer shawls. 6 They love the places of honour at feasts, and the prominent seats in the synagogues, 7 (Jn 1:38; 1:49) and greetings in the marketplaces, and being called 'Rabbi' by men. 8 (Jas 3:1; Mt 23:10) "But do not be called 'Rabbi,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brothers. 9 (Mal 1:6; Mt 7:11) And call no man on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. 10 Nor be called teachers, for you have one Teacher, the Christ. 11 He who is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 (Lk 14:11; 18:14) For he who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. [1] Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, [2] Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: [3] All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. [4] For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. [5] But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, [6] And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, [7] And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. [8] But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. [9] And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. [10] Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. [11] But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. [12] And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. Luke 20:45-47 The Denouncing of the Scribes Mt 23:1-36; Mk 12:38-40; Lk 11:37-54 45 Then as all the people heard, He said to His disciples, 46 (Lk 11:43; 14:7) "Beware of the scribes who desire to walk in long robes and who love greetings in the marketplaces and the prominent seats in the synagogues and the seats of honor at banquets, 47 (Mk 12:40) who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive greater condemnation." [45] Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, [46] Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; [47] Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation. Matthew 23:13-39 13 (Lk 11:52; Mt 23:27) "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven against men. For you neither enter yourselves, nor allow those who are entering to go in. 14 (Mk 12:40; Lk 20:47) Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You devour widows' houses and for pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive the greater condemnation. 15 (Ac 13:43; 2:10) "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You travel sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves. 16 (Mt 15:14; 23:24) "Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'If anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing. But if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.' 17 (Mt 23:19) You blind fools! Which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold? 18 And you say, 'If anyone swears by the altar, it is nothing. But if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is obligated.' 19 (Ex 29:37) You blind fools! Which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift? [13] But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. [14] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. [15] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. [16] Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor! [17] Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? [18] And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. [19] Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? Mark 12:41-44 The Widow's Offering Lk 21:1-4 41 (2Ki 12:9; Jn 8:20) Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. Many who were rich put in much. 42 But a certain poor widow came and put in two mites, which make a farthing. (Gk. 2 lepta. A lepton, meaning "small" or "thin," was a fraction of a penny and the smallest coin circulated.) 43 (2Co 8:2; 8:12) He called His disciples to Him and said to them, "Truly I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. 44 (Lk 8:43; 15:12) They all contributed out of their abundance. But she, out of her poverty, put in all that she had, her entire livelihood." [41] And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. [42] And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. [43] And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: [44] For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living. Luke 21:1-4 The Widow's Offering Mk 12:41-44 1 (Mk 12:41-44; Jn 8:20) He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts in the treasury. 2 (Mk 12:42) He also saw a poor widow putting in two mites, (Gk. 2 lepta. A lepton, meaning "small" or "thin," is a fraction of a penny and about 1/128 of a denarius, which was a day's wage. A Jewish bronze or copper coin, it was the smallest coin circulated.) 32 (Co 8:12) and He said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. 4 (Lk 8:43) For all these out of their abundance have put in their gifts for God. But she out of her poverty has put in all the living she had." [1] And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. [2] And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. [3] And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: [4] For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had. Matthew 21:28-32 The Parable of the Two Sons 28 "What do you think? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, 'Son, go work today in my vineyard.' 29 "He answered, 'I will not,' but afterward he repented and went. 30 "Then he came to the second, and said likewise. He answered, 'I will go, sir,' but did not go. 31 "Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, the tax collectors and prostitutes enter the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward repent and believe him. [28] But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. [29]He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. [30]And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. [31]Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. [32] For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. 2) Our Daily Bread for 28 October 2025 titled Sure Foundation in Christ by Arthur Jackson Matthew 7:24-27 The Two Housebuilders Lk 6:47-49 24 (Lk 6:47-49) "Whoever hears these sayings of Mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock. 25 And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house. And it did not fall, for it was founded a rock. 26 And every one who hears these sayings of Mine and does not do them will be likened to a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house. And it fell. And its fall was great." [24] Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: [25] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. [26] And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: [27] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. American football quarterback C.J. Stroud is young, talented, and an unashamed believer in Jesus. In a profession where the average career span is just 3.3 years, Stroud has been outspoken about where his trust lies. "Football has a lot of . . . twists and turns. But, at the end of the day, it's all about your foundation. And something that's set my foundation is my faith." Football, or any other profession, isn't the only sphere of life with ups and downs, twists and turns. Jesus’ story in Matthew 7:24-27 features two houses, each pummeled by rain, floods, and wind. But only one survived the storm: "because it had its foundation on the rock" (v. 25) - Christ's metaphor for His teaching (vv. 24, 26). Yes, storms happen in this life. Sickness and countless other dilemmas can leave us spinning. Life isn't "stormproof," but building our lives on Jesus and His teaching - our sure "foundation" (see 1 Corinthians 3:11) - makes the difference. Those who refuse to embrace Christ are more vulnerable when life's storms come. But those who listen to His words will find stability: "The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock" (Matthew 7:25). Indeed, it's all about our foundation. Reflect & Pray How "storm-ready" is your life? How have Christ's teachings helped you to remain stable during difficulties? Heavenly Father, please forgive me for building my life on things other than Jesus and His words, and help me to rely more on Him. Discover more about Navigating the Storms of Life. 3) Daily verses taken from Billy Graham Evangelical Organisation Words in Season Scripture Memory Tools Week 7 Promises of Grace - Day 3 - All I need Phil 4:19 19 But my God shall supply your every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. "But Mom, I really need these!" The strident voice of a teenage girl rose above the hum of voices in the department store. The item in question was a pair of $80 blue Jeans, faded, bleached, and torn in the right knee. Style . Fashion. Self-Image. The girl may not have needed the jeans to enhance her wardrobe, but she obviously felt she needed then to enhance her acceptability among her peers. Phillippains 4:19 promises that God "shall supply your every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." But just what needs does this promise cover? My need for a bigger house? A better job? An $80 pair of Calvin Kleins? Certainly God knows and cares about the physical, superficial need of our lives, and he provides what we need to sustain life. But God's priority goes much deeper than the kind of radial tires we buy or the brand name on our back pockets. God is interested in eternal values, in spiritual needs, and he knows what we need in our lives to draw us closer to him. "Out of his glorious riches in Christ Jesus," God will enrich us spiritually. The application of Phil 4:19 involves trusting God to know and care about our real needs, the deep needs of our souls, and allowing him the freedom to order our circumstances so that those needs are met. When we are bold enough to pray, "Lord, do whatever is necessary to make me more like Jesus Christ," our Father delights to answer that prayer and supply our needs. Application a) What is the difference between my "Needs" and my "wants"? b) What spiritual needs can I identify in my life? c) How can this verse help me keep my own priorities in line with God's value system? 4) Prosperity verses from Kenneth Copeland Deut 8:18 18 But you must remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to get wealth, so that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is today. 18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. 5) From a Book called God's Promises for you: When you are lonely PSALMS 25:15-21 15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He will lead my feet from the net. 16 Turn to me, and be gracious to me, for I am isolated and afflicted. 17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses. 18 Look on my pain and misery, and forgive all my sins. 19 Consider my enemies, for they are many, and they hate me with violent hatred. 20 Watch over my life, and deliver me! Let me not suffer shame, for I seek refuge in You. 21 Truth and integrity will preserve me while I wait for You. 15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; For he shall pluck my feet out of the net. 16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; For I am desolate and afflicted. 17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses. 18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; And forgive all my sins. 19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many; And they hate me with cruel hatred. 20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: Let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee. 21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; For I wait on thee. Remember God's promises when You pray The Lord's prayer Matthew 6:9-13 9 "Therefore pray in this manner: Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. 10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. 11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread. 12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen." 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2021 edition?) Prince Edward Island Total population 146300 Muslim population (est.) 1127 Charlottetown does not currently (fall 2014) have a local CNMM network. Pray with us for God's people to come together in reaching Muslims cooperatively across denominational and organisational lines. More than 200 attended the Eid festival at the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting during daylight hours and the reading of the Qur'an, at the Dar as-Salam mosque in 2014. This second mosque established in Charlottetown, the other being the Muslims Association of PEI. As of mid-2014,there are between 250 to 300 families, mostly in Charlottetown. The Muslims of Charlottetown see their community as symbolically important for this nation since this is known as the "birthplace of Canada". Yet we were established as the "Dominion of Canada" with an appeal not only to monarchial authority, but even more to God's higher Biblical authority as shown in Psalm 72:8, "May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth." Let us intercede together for: - the growing Muslim population of Charlottetown and spreading outward through PEI to encounter the Prince of Peace. - believers to have faith and vision to reach out to the Muslim Community in contextual ways to share the Gospel - churches and ministries to rise up in wisdom, knowledge and understanding, giving and training, coaching and encouragement to believers reaching out to Muslims locally. - a prayer movement to be established, feeding a growing move of Yahweh's Spirit in His churches and people , and an awakening an openness and spiritual hunger in Muslims for relationship with the Father through the Son. Adding further 30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020 Under the Keep Praying page When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and, of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be decorated and festivals will be held. For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam. You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak", which means Blessed Eid!" Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you know, and Muslims around the world: - Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim relationships!
