This coming Saturday, 29 June 2024, is Orthodox Hallowe'en, which always falls on the Saturday after Pentecost. It is also, for those on the New Calendar, the Feast of St Peter and St Paul, which marks the end of a fast which only begins the following Monday, so the fast will last for -3 days. Those on the Old Calendar won't face the anomaly of a negative fast, as for them the 29th June falls on 12 July (Gregorian), which is a Friday, so they can break the fast with fish. For more on Orthodox Hallowe'en, and why it falls on a different date from Western Hallowe'en, see here: <https://khanya.wordpress.com/2009/09/18/evangelicals-and-halloween/> and for even more, see here: <https://khanya.wordpress.com/2007/10/15/halloween-synchroblog/> -- A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
