1) Isaiah 13, 14, 15, 16, 17

Isaiah 13
A Prophecy Against Babylon
1 (Isa 1:1; 14:28) The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.
2 (Isa 5:26; Jer 50:2) Lift up a banner on the high mountain,
exalt the voice to them, shake the hand,
that they may go into the gates of the nobles.
3 (Joel 3:11; Ps 149:2) I have commanded My sanctified ones,
I have also called My mighty ones for My anger,
even those who rejoice in My exaltation.
4 (Joel 3:14 )The noise of a multitude in the mountains,
like as of a great people!
A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together!
The Lord of Hosts musters the army for battle.
5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven,
the Lord and the weapons of His indignation, to destroy the whole land.
6 (Joel 1:15; Zep 1:7) Wail, for the day of the Lord is at hand!
It shall come as destruction from the Almighty.
7 (Eze 21:7; Isa 19:1) Therefore all hands shall be faint,
and every man's heart shall melt,
8 (Isa 26:17; Na 2:10) and they shall be afraid.
Pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them;
they shall be in pain as a woman who travails;
they shall be amazed one at another;
their faces shall be as flames.
9 (Ps 104:35) See, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, 
both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate,
and He shall destroy its sinners out of it.
10 (Mt 24:29; Mk 13:24) For the stars of heaven and their constellations
shall not give their light; the sun shall be dark when it rises,
and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
11 (Isa 2:17; Da 5:22-23) I will punish the world for its evil,
and the wicked for their iniquity;
and I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease,
and will lay low the haughtiness of the ruthless.
12 (Isa 4:1; 24:6) I will make a man more rare than fine gold,
and mankind than the golden wedge of Ophir.
13 (La 1:12) Therefore, I will shake the heavens,
and the earth shall be shaken out of her place
at the wrath of the Lord of Hosts and in the day of His fierce anger.
14 (1Ki 22:17; Jer 50:16) It shall be as the chased roe,
and as a sheep that no man takes up; every man shall turn to his own people
and flee every one into his own land.
15 Every one who is found shall be thrust through,
and every one who is joined to them shall fall by the sword.
16 (Na 3:10; Ps 137:8-9) Their children also shall be dashed
to pieces before their eyes;
their houses shall be devastated and their wives ravished.
17 (Pr 6:34-35; Jer 51:11) See, I will stir up the Medes against them,
who shall not regard silver;
and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.
18 (2Ki 8:12; 2Ch 36:17) Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces,
and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb;
their eye shall not spare children.
19 (Ge 19:24; Da 4:30) Babylon, the glory of kingdoms,
the beauty of the Chaldean's excellency, shall be as when God overthrew
Sodom and Gomorrah.
20 (Isa 14:23; Jer 51:43) It shall never be inhabited,
nor shall it be lived in from generation to generation,
nor shall the Arabian pitch a tent there,
nor shall the shepherds make their fold there.
21 (Rev 18:2; Isa 34:11-15) But wild beasts of the desert
shall lie down there,
and their houses shall be full of owls,
ostriches also shall dwell there,
and shaggy goats shall dance there.
22 (Isa 25:2; 35:7) The wild beasts of the islands shall cry
in their desolate houses
and jackals in their pleasant palaces.
And her time is near to come,
and her days shall not be prolonged.

[6] Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a
destruction from the Almighty.
[7] Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:
[8] And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them;
they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one
at another; their faces shall be as flames.
[9] Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce
anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof
out of it.

[14] And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh
up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his
own land.
[15] Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is
joined unto them shall fall by the sword.
[16] Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their
houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

[22] And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses,
and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her
days shall not be prolonged.

Isaiah 14

The Restoration of Judah

1 (Ps 102:13; Zec 1:17) For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob,
and will yet choose Israel,
and set them in their own land.
Then the strangers shall be joined with them,
and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
2 (Isa 61:5; 60:14) The people shall take them
and bring them to their place,
and the house of Israel shall possess them
in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids;
and they shall take them captive, whose captives they were,
and they shall rule over their oppressors.

[1] For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and
set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and
they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
[2] And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the
house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and
handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and
they shall rule over their oppressors.

The Fall of Babylon's King

3 (Ezr 9:8-9; Jer 30:10) In the day the Lord gives you rest from your sorrow,
and from your fear, and from the hard bondage in which you were made to serve,
4 (Isa 49:26; Rev 18:16) you shall take up this proverb
against the king of Babylon, and say:
How has the oppressor ceased!
The golden city ceased!
5 (Ps 125:3; Isa 9:4) The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked,
and the scepter of the rulers;
6 he who struck the people in wrath with unceasing strokes,
he who ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and no one hinders.
7 (Ps 126:1-3; 98:7-9 )The whole earth is at rest and is quiet;
they break forth into singing.
8 (Eze 31:16) Indeed, the fir trees rejoice at you,
and the cedars of Lebanon, saying,
"Since you are laid down,
no tree cutter has come up against us."
9 Hell from beneath is moved for you
to meet you at your coming;
it stirs up the dead for you,
even all the chief ones of the earth;
it has raised up from their thrones
all the kings of the nations.
10 They all shall speak
and say to you:
"Have you also become as weak as we have?
Have you become like us?"
11 Your pomp is brought down to Hell,
and the noise of your harps;
maggots are spread under you,
and the worms cover you.
12 (Lk 10:18; 2Pe 1:19) How are you fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
you who weaken the nations!
13 (Eze 28:2) For you have said in your heart,
"I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne
above the stars of God;
I will sit also on the mount of the congregation,
in the recesses of the north;
14 (Isa 47:8; 2Th 2:4) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High."
15 (Mt 11:23; Eze 32:23) Yet you shall be brought down to Hell,
to the sides of the pit.

[3] And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest
from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou
wast made to serve,

exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of
the congregation, in the sides of the north:
[14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most
High.
[15] Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Also note from Isa 14:12 - there is a satanic and erroroneous reference
in Is 14:12 to morning star. Why do I say that?

Satan is never the Morning star!

16 (Jer 50:23) Those who see you shall stare at you
and ponder over you:
"Is this the man who made the earth
to tremble and shook kingdoms,
17 (Joel 2:3; Isa 45:13) who made the world as a wilderness
and destroyed its cities,
who did not open the house of his prisoners?"
18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory,
each one in his own tomb;
19 (Jer 41:7; 41:9) but you are cast out of your grave
like an abominable branch
and clothed with those who are slain,
thrust through with a sword,
who go down to the stones of the pit
as a corpse trodden underfoot.
20 (Job 18:19; Ps 21:10) You shall not be joined with them in burial
because you have destroyed your land
and slain your people.
The seed of evildoers
shall never be renowned.
21 (Ex 20:5; Lev 26:39) Prepare a place of slaughter for his children
for the iniquity of their fathers;
they must not rise nor possess the land,
nor fill the face of the world with cities.
22 (1Ki 14:10; Pr 10:7) For I will rise up against them,
says the Lord of Hosts,
and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant,
and son, and nephew,
says the Lord.
23 (Zep 2:14; 1Ki 14:10) I will also make it a possession for the hedgehog
and pools of water,
and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction,
says the Lord of Hosts.

[16] They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee,
saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake
kingdoms;
[17] That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof;
that opened not the house of his prisoners?
[18] All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one
in his own house.

the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go
down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.

destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never

[21] Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers;
that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world
with cities.
[22] For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off
from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD.
[23] I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water:
and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.

The pagan system of sun worship had three main aspects: the father, mother,
and the son. In ancient Chaldean times, these were the god Bel or Merodach,
Ninus the son who was also worshiped as Tammuz, and the female goddess
Rhea who was also worshiped as Ishtar[Oestre,Easter], Astarte, or Beltis.
She was also referred to as the "queen of heaven," and the "wrath subduer."
Mary has received these same names in Catholicism.

Mother and child worship was the basis of the ancient religions.
In the various religions of the world, the same system of worship
was perpetuated under different names.
In Egypt , the mother and child were worshiped as Isis and Osiris or Horus,
in India as Isi and Iswara,
in China and Japan as the mother goddess Shing-moo with child,
in Greece as Ceres or Irene and Plutus,
in Rome as Fortuna and Jupitor-puer, or Venus and Adurnis,
and in Scandinavia as Frigga and Balder.
The mother and child were worshiped in Babylon as Ishtar[Oestre,Easter]
and Tammuz, and in Phoenicia, as Ashtoreth and Baal. Moreover,
the child was worshiped as both husband and son of the mother goddess.
The male component is a counterfeit of Jesus Christ. The Biblical names
used for Jesus were also used for the child in ancient religions.
Zoroaster was referred to as the seed, Mithra the Persian
sun god was referred to as the Saviour, Dionysus as the sin-bearer,
Bacchus as the branch, Vishna as the victim-man,
and Osiris as the king of kings.

The Legend of Nimrod

The system of worship has its origin in the legend of Nimrod
and his wife Semiramus. Nimrod (the great-grandson of Noah)
rebelled against God, like his father Cush.
Eventually Nimrod was put to death for his evil deeds,
and according to the ancient patriarchal system,
parts of his body were sent to various cities as a warning.

His wife Semiramus fled, but spread the rumour
that he had ascended to heaven, where he had become one with the sun.
When Semiramus later gave birth to a son, she claimed that it was
the reincarnation of her deified husband,
and that he had returned to save the human race.

She was later deified as the mother of the sun god,
and it was supposed she had ascended into heaven
as the queen of heaven. In the various cultures throughout history
and around the world, the same basic deities have been
worshipped under different names.

An Oracle Concerning Assyria

24 (Ac 4:28; Job 23:13) The Lord of Hosts has sworn, saying:
Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass,
and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
25 (Isa 9:4; Na 1:13) that I will break the Assyrian in My land,
and on My mountains tread him under foot.
Then shall his yoke depart from off them
and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
26 This is the purpose that is purposed on the whole earth,
and this is the hand that is stretched out on all the nations.
27 (2Ch 20:6; Isa 43:13) For the Lord of Hosts has purposed,
and who shall disannul it?
And His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

[25] That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread

[27] For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his
hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

An Oracle Concerning Philistia

28 (2Ki 16:20; 2Ch 28:27) In the year that King Ahaz died was this oracle:
29 (2Ch 26:6; Isa 11:8) Rejoice not, O Philistia, all of you,
because the rod that struck you is broken;
for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a viper,
and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.
30 (Isa 7:21-22) The firstborn of the poor shall feed,
and the needy shall lie down in safety:
and I will kill your root with famine,
and he shall slay your remnant.
31 (Jer 1:14; Isa 13:6) Wail, O gate. Cry, O city.
Melt away, O Philistia, all of you;
for smoke shall come from the north,
and there is no straggler in his ranks.
32 (Ps 87:5; 87:1) What shall one then answer
the messengers of the nation?
That the Lord has founded Zion,
and the poor of His people shall trust in it.

Isaiah 15

A Prophecy Against Moab

Jer 48:29-36

1 (Nu 21:28; Isa 11:14) The oracle of Moab.
Surely in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste
and brought to silence,
surely in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste
and brought to silence,
2 (Lev 21:5; Jer 48:1) he has gone up to the temple and to Dibon,
the high places, to weep.
Moab shall wail over Nebo and over Medeba;
on all their heads shall be baldness,
and every beard cut off.
3 (Jnh 3:6-8) In their streets they shall clothe themselves with sackcloth;
on the tops of their houses and in their streets,
everyone shall wail,
weeping abundantly.
4 (Jer 48:34) Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh;
their voice shall be heard even to Jahaz;
therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out;
his life shall be grievous to him.
5 (Jer 48:5; 4:20) My heart shall cry out for Moab;
his fugitives shall flee to Zoar,
like a three-year-old heifer.
For by the Ascent of Luhith
they shall go up with weeping;
for in the way of Horonaim
they shall raise up a cry of destruction,
6 (Nu 32:36; Joel 1:10-12) for the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate;
surely the grass is withered away;
the grass fails,
there is no green thing.
7 (Jer 48:36) Therefore the abundance they have gained, and that
which they have laid up,
they shall carry away to the Brook of the Willows.
8 For the cry has gone all around the borders of Moab;
its wailing to Eglaim,
and its wailing to Beer Elim.
9 (2Ki 17:25) For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood;
for I will bring more woes on Dimon,
lions on the fugitives of Moab,
and on the remnant of the land.

Isaiah 17

An Oracle Concerning Damascus

1 (Zec 9:1; Ge 14:15) The oracle of Damascus.
See, Damascus will cease from being a city;
it shall be a ruinous heap.
2 (Eze 25:5; Nu 32:34) The cities of Aroer are forsaken;
they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down,
and no one shall make them afraid.
3 (Isa 7:16; 8:4) The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim,
and the kingdom from Damascus,
and the remnant of Aram;
they shall be as the glory of the sons of Israel,
says the Lord of Hosts.
4 (Isa 10:16) In that day the glory of Jacob shall decrease,
and the fatness of his flesh shall grow lean.
5 (2Sa 5:18; Jer 51:33) It shall be as when the harvestman gathers the corn
and reaps the ears with his arm,
and it shall be as he who gathers ears
in the Valley of Rephaim.
6 (Isa 24:13; Dt 4:27) Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it,
as the shaking of an olive tree,
two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough,
four or five in its outmost fruitful branches,
says the Lord God of Israel.
7 (Mic 7:7; Hos 3:5) On that day a man shall look to his Maker,
and his eyes shall have respect for the Holy One of Israel.
8 (Isa 27:9; 30:22) He shall not look to the altars,
the work of his hands,
nor shall he respect what his fingers have made,
either the groves or the images.
9 (Isa 27:10) In that day his strong cities shall be as a forsaken bough
and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the sons of Israel;
and there shall be a desolation.
10 (Dt 32:4; Isa 12:2) Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation
and have not been mindful of the rock of your strength,
therefore you plant pleasant plants
and set them with vine slips of a strange god;
11 (Job 4:8; Hos 8:7) in the day that you plant it, you carefully fence it in,
and in the morning you make your seed to flourish;
but the harvest shall be a heap of ruins
in the day of grief and desperate pain.
12 (Ps 18:4; Jer 6:23) Woe to the multitude of many people
who make a noise like the noise of the seas,
and the rushing of many peoples
who make a rumble like the rumbling of mighty waters!
13 (Ps 9:5; Job 21:18) The nations rumble like the rumbling of many waters;
but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off,
and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind,
and like rolling dust before the whirlwind.
14 (2Ki 19:35) At evening time, sudden terror!
And before the morning, they are no more.
This is the portion of those who plunder us,
and the lot of those who rob us.

[1] The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a
city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
[2] The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall
lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
[3] The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from

"I've been praying for you for fifty years," said the elderly woman. My friend
Lou looked into her eyes with profound gratitude. He was visiting 
the Bulgarian village that his father grew up in and left as a teenager. 
The woman, a believer in Jesus, lived next to his grandparents. She began 
to pray for Lou as soon as she heard about his birth a continent away. 
Now, over half a century later, he was visiting the village on a business 
trip, and while there he spoke to a group about his faith. Lou hadn't become 
a believer in Jesus until he was almost thirty, and when this woman approached
him after he spoke, he wondered about the impact her persistent prayers 
had made on his coming to faith.

We'll never know the full effect of our prayers this side of heaven. 
But Scripture gives us this counsel: "Continue in prayer, and watch in the 
same with thanksgiving;" (Colossians 4:2). When Paul penned those words to 
believers in the small city of Colossae, he also asked for prayer himself 
so that God would "open unto us a door of utterance" for his message 
wherever he went" (v. 3).

Sometimes we may think, I don't have the spiritual gift of prayer. 
But of all the spiritual gifts listed in the Bible, prayer isn't among them. 
Perhaps this is because God longs for each of us to pray faithfully, 
so that we may see what only He can do.

Col 1:21-22

21 (Eph 2:12) And you, who were formerly alienated
and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled

to present you holy and blameless and above reproach in His sight,

Some 50 years ago, Orson Welles's radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds
threw the nation into panic; people on the East Coast ran for their lives,
expecting at any moment to be destroyed by alien invaders from outer space.
Today, of course, we are more sophisticated about such matters.
Television and movies have educated us about alien life forms.
Star Wars and Star Trek have taught us that their appearance can be much
different than ours. Sometimes they are unable to exist in our atmosphere
with artificial life-support systems; their physical makeup is often
incompatible with our environment.
God says that we, apart from Christ, are as incompatible with his kingdom
as the 'aliens' of movies are with Earth's environment.
We are at war with God, a true "war of the worlds" that staggers
the imagination.
Yet God has 'reconciled' us to his world. He has made us fit,
made us able to exist in his kingdom. He has made us part of
his world through Christ's death and resurrection.
Now, through Christ, we are 'holy' and 'without blemish' in God's sight.
And that transformation, ironically, make us 'alien' in the world around us.
No longer do we fit in a world of selfishness and greed, a world where Self
is god and everyone does what is right in his own heart.
We belong, instead, in the kingdom of God's righteousness.

Canada is a land of immigrants. And Muslims are coming in increasing numbers
to our shores. Where do they live? How can we pray for these areas? Use this as
your more effectively for Muslims in Canada.

Data for those population figures is extrapolated for the 2011 National
Household Survey and population growth projections by Pew Forum. These have
also been adjusted by +40% as reliable sources state that on 60% of Muslims
self-identify on government surveys and forms. These estimates are still on

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid  celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that 
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you 
know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 :  17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; 
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants 
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. 
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: 
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.  20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager, 
I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to
cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone, 
2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings and for all who are in authority,

3(1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our
Savior,

who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Pray for Muslims in Canada to know Jesus as Saviour.
