Jeremiah 26

Jeremiah Threatened With Death

1 (2Ch 36:4-5; Jer 27:1) In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim
the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came from the Lord, saying:
2 (Dt 4:2; Jer 19:14) Thus says the Lord: Stand in the court of the house
of the Lord, and speak to all the cities of Judah who come to worship
in the house of the Lord all the words that I command you to speak to them.
Do not diminish a word.
3 (Jer 18:7-10; 36:3) Perhaps they will listen and turn every man
from his evil way, that I may repent of the calamity which I purpose to do
to them because of the evil of their deeds.
4 (1Ki 9:6; Isa 1:20) You will say to them: Thus says the Lord:
If you will not listen to Me, to walk in My law which I have set before you,
5 (Jer 25:3-4; 2Ki 9:7) to listen to the words of My servants the prophets,
whom I sent to you, both rising up early and sending them,
but you have not listened,
6 (2Ki 22:19; Jer 24:9) then I will make this house like Shiloh
and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.
7 (Jer 5:31; Mic 3:11) So the priests and the prophets and all the people
heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord.
8 (La 4:13-14) And when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking
all that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people,
the priests and the prophets and all the people took hold of him,
saying, "You shall surely die.
9 Why have you prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying,
'This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate
without an inhabitant'?" And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah
in the house of the Lord.
10 (Jer 36:10) When the officials of Judah heard these things,
then they came up from the king's house to the house of the Lord
and sat down in the entry of the New Gate of the house of the Lord.
11 (Jer 38:4; Dt 18:20) Then the priests and the prophets spoke
to the officials and to all the people, saying,
"This man deserves to die! For he has prophesied against this city,
as you have heard with your ears."
12 (Jer 26:15; Ac 4:19) Then Jeremiah spoke to all the officials
and to all the people, saying, "The Lord sent me to prophesy
against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.
13 (Jer 26:3; Joel 2:14) Therefore now amend your ways and your deeds,
and obey the voice of the Lord your God; and the Lord will repent
of the disaster that He has pronounced against you.
14 (Jer 38:5; Jos 9:25) As for me, here I am in your hand.
Do with me as seems good and right to you.
15 (Nu 35:33; Pr 6:17) But know for certain that if you put me to death,
you will surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city
and upon the inhabitants. For truly the Lord has sent me to you to speak
all these words in your ears."

[1] In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of
Judah came this word from the LORD, saying,
[2] Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD's house, and speak
unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD's house, all
the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:
[3] If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I
may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the
evil of their doings.
[4] And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; If ye will not
hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,
[5] To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent unto
you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not hearkened;
[6] Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse
to all the nations of the earth.
[7] So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah
speaking these words in the house of the LORD.
[8] Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that
the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests
and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely
die.
[9] Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house
shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an
inhabitant?
And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.
[10] When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from
the king's house unto the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entry of
the new gate of the LORD's house.
[11] Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the
people, saying, This man is worthy to die; for he hath prophesied against
this city, as ye have heard with your ears.
[12] Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying,
The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all
the words that ye have heard.
[13] Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of
the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath
pronounced against you.
[14] As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as seemeth good and
meet unto you.
[15] But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely
bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the
inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak
all these words in your ears.

Jeremiah Spared From Death

16 (Ac 5:34-39; 23:9) Then the officials and all the people said
to the priests and to the prophets, "This man is not worthy of death.
For he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God."
17 (Ac 5:34) Then certain of the elders of the land rose up
and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying:
18 (Ne 4:2; Jer 9:11) "Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah
king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying,
'Thus says the Lord of Hosts:
Zion shall be plowed like a field,
and Jerusalem shall become heaps,
and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.'
19 (Ex 32:14; 2Sa 24:16) Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him
to death? Did he not fear the Lord and entreat the Lord, and the Lord relented
of the disaster which He had pronounced against them?
Thus we might procure great evil against ourselves."
20 (1Sa 7:2; Jos 9:17) There was also a man that prophesied in the name
of the Lord, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath Jearim,
who prophesied against this city and against this land
according to all the words of Jeremiah.
21 (Mt 10:23; 2Ch 16:10) And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men
and all the officials, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death.
But when Uriah heard it, he was afraid and fled and went into Egypt.
22 (2Ki 22:12; 22:14) And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt: namely,
Elnathan the son of Akbor and certain men with him into Egypt.
23 (Jer 2:30) They brought Uriah out of Egypt and led him to Jehoiakim
the king, who slew him with the sword and cast his dead body
into the graves of the common people.
24 (1Ki 18:4; 2Ki 22:12-14) Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam
the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, with the result that
he was not given into the hands of the people to put him to death. 

[16] Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the
prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the
name of the LORD our God.
[17] Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the
assembly of the people, saying,
[18] Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah,
and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts;
Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the
mountains of the house as the high places of a forest.
[19] Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did
he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of
the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great
evil against our souls.
[20] And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the LORD,
Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjath-jearim, who prophesied against this
city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah:
[21] And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the
princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death: but when
Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt;
[22] And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the son of
Achbor, and certain men with him into Egypt.
[23] And they fetched forth Urijah out of Egypt, and brought him unto
Jehoiakim the king; who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into
the graves of the common people.
[24] Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah,
that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to
death.

2 Kings 24:1-4

2 Kings 24

Judah Overrun by Enemies

1 (Jer 25:1; Da 1:1) In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up,
and Jehoiakim became his servant for three years. Then he turned
and rebelled against him.
2 (Jer 35:11; 2Ki 23:27; 6:23) The Lord sent against him bands of
Chaldeans, bands of Arameans, bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites.
He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word
of the Lord that He spoke by His servants the prophets.
3 (2Ki 18:25) Surely at the decree of the Lord this came upon Judah,
to remove them from before Him, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all
that he had done,
4 (2Ki 21:16) and also for the innocent blood that he had shed, for he
filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to pardon.

2 Kings 24
[1] In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became
his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him.
[2] And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the
Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and
sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD,
which he spake by his servants the prophets.
[3] Surely at the commandment of the LORD came this upon Judah, to remove
them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did;
[4] And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem
with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.

Jeremiah 27

Judah to Serve Nebuchadnezzar

1 In the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah,
this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord:
2 Thus says the Lord to me: Make bonds and yokes and put them on your neck,
3 and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab,
and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyre,
and to the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers who come to Jerusalem
to Zedekiah king of Judah.
4 And command them to go to their masters, saying:
Thus says the Lord of Hosts,
the God of Israel: Thus you shall say to your masters:
5 (Ps 115:15-16; Isa 45:12) I have made the earth, the men, and the beasts
which are on the ground by My great power and by My outstretched arm,
and have given it to whom it seemed good to Me.
6 (Jer 28:14; 25:9; Eze 29:18-20) Now I have given all these lands
into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant.
And also I have given to him the beasts of the field to serve him.
7 (Isa 14:4-6; Jer 52:31) All nations shall serve him and his son
and his son's son until the time of his own land comes;
and then many nations and great kings will make him their servant.
8 (Jer 24:10; 38:17-19) It shall come to pass that I will punish the nation
and kingdom which will not serve Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon,
and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon,
says the Lord. I will punish that nation with the sword, and with famine,
and with pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.
9 (Isa 8:19; Jer 14:14) Therefore do not listen to your prophets,
or to your diviners, or to your dreamers, or to your enchanters,
or to your sorcerers who speak to you, saying, "You shall not serve
the king of Babylon."
10 (Jer 32:31) For they prophesy a lie to you in order to remove you far
from your land. And I will drive you out, and you shall perish.
11 (Jer 21:9; 27:2) But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke
of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those I will let remain still
in their own land, says the Lord, and they shall till it and dwell in it.
12 (Jer 28:1; 38:17) I spoke also to Zedekiah king of Judah according
to all these words, saying: Bring your necks under the yoke of the
king of Babylon and serve him and his people, and live.
13 (Eze 18:31; Jer 27:8) Why will you die, you and your people,
by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the Lord has spoken
against the nation that will not serve the king of Bab­ylon?
14 (Jer 14:14; 23:21) Therefore do not listen to the words of the prophets
who speak to you, saying, "You will not serve the king of Babylon,"
because they prophesy a lie to you.
15 (Jer 27:10; 2Ch 25:16) For I have not sent them, says the Lord,
yet they prophesy a lie in My name, so that I might drive you out
and that you might perish, you and the prophets that prophesy to you.
16 (2Ki 24:13; Jer 28:3) I also spoke to the priests and to all this people:
Thus says the Lord: Do not listen to the words of your prophets that prophesy
to you, saying, "The vessels of the house of the Lord will now soon be brought
again from Babylon." For they prophesy a lie to you.
17 Do not listen to them; serve the king of Babylon, and live.
Why should this city be laid waste?
18 (1Sa 7:8; 12:19) But if they are prophets, and if the word of the Lord
is with them, let them now make intercession to the Lord of Hosts, that
the vessels which are left in the house of the Lord
and in the house of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem not go to Babylon.
19 (2Ki 25:13; Jer 52:17-23) For thus says the Lord of Hosts concerning
the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases,
and concerning the rest of the vessels that remain in this city,
20 (Jer 24:1; 2Ch 36:10) which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon
did not take when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim,
king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon,
and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem.
21 Indeed, thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, concerning
the vessels that remain in the house of the Lord and in the house
of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem:
22 (Jer 29:10; Ezr 7:19; Jer 32:5) They will be carried to Babylon
and they will be there until the day that I visit them, says the Lord.
Then I will bring them up and restore them to this place.

[3] And send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the
king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon,
by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of
Judah;
[4] And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the LORD of

[16] Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith
the LORD; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you,
saying, Behold, the vessels of the LORD's house shall now shortly be brought
again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.
[17] Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore
should this city be laid waste?
[18] But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let
them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are
left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah,
and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.
[19] For thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning
the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels
that remain in this city,
[20] Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away

[21] Yea, thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the
vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king

them to this place.

Jeremiah 28

The False Prophet Hananiah

1 (Jer 27:1; Jos 9:3) In that same year, at the beginning
of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year
and in the fifth month, Hananiah the son of Azzur, the prophet,
who was from Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of the Lord
in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,
2 "Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel:
I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
3 (2Ki 24:13; 2Ch 36:10) Within two full years I will bring back into
this place all the vessels of the house of the Lord that Nebuchadnezzar
king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.
4 (Jer 22:24; 24:1) And I will bring back to this place Jeconiah
the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah
who went into Babylon, says the Lord, for I will break the yoke
of the king of Babylon."
5 (Jer 28:1) Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah
in the presence of the priests and in the presence of all the people
that stood in the house of the Lord,
6 (1Ki 1:36; Ps 41:13) even the prophet Jeremiah said, "Amen. May the Lord
do so; may the Lord perform your words which you have prophesied,
to bring back the vessels of the house of the Lord and all that was carried
away captive, from Babylon into this place.
7 (1Ki 22:28) Nevertheless hear now this word that I speak in your ears
and in the ears of all the people.
8 (1Ki 17:1; Am 1:2) The prophets of old who have been before me
and before you prophesied both against many countries
and against great kingdoms, of war and disaster and pestilence.
9 (Dt 18:22; Jer 6:14) As for the prophet who prophesies of peace,
when the word of the prophet comes to pass, then that prophet shall be
known as one whom the Lord has truly sent."
10 (Jer 27:2) Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the neck
of the prophet Jeremiah and broke it.
11 Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying,
"Thus says the Lord: Even so I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar
king of Babylon from the neck of all the nations within the space
of two full years." Then the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
12 (Jer 1:2) Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet,
after Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck
of the prophet Jeremiah, saying:
13 Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus says the Lord: You have broken
the yokes of wood, but you have made instead of them yokes of iron.
14 (Dt 28:48; Jer 27:6-7) For thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel:
I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations,
that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon;
and they shall serve him. And I have given him the beasts of the field also.
15 (La 2:14; Eze 13:22) Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah
the prophet, "Listen now, Hananiah. The Lord has not sent you,
and you make this people trust in a lie.
16 (Jer 29:32; Ge 7:4) Therefore thus says the Lord: I am about to cast you
from off the face of the earth. This year you shall die, because you have
taught rebellion against the Lord."
17 So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

Jeremiah 28
[1] And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of
Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that
Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spake unto me in
the house of the LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people,
saying,
[2] Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have
broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
[3] Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels
of the LORD's house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this
place, and carried them to Babylon:
[4] And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king
of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, saith the
LORD: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.
[5] Then the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence
of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the
house of the LORD,
[6] Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform
thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the
LORD's house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this
place.
[7] Nevertheless hear thou now this word that I speak in thine ears, and in
the ears of all the people;
[8] The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied
both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of
evil, and of pestilence.
[9] The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet
shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath
truly sent him.
[10] Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's
neck, and brake it.
[11] And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus
saith the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years.
And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
[12] Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the prophet, after that
Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet
Jeremiah, saying,
[13] Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast broken
the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron.
[14] For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke
of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given
him the beasts of the field also.
[15] Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now,
Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust
in a lie.
[16] Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the
face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught
rebellion against the LORD.
[17] So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.  

Jeremiah 29

Jeremiah's Letter to the Exiles

1 (Est 9:20) Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah
the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the rest of the elders of the captivity,
and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people
whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon.
2 (Jer 22:24-28; 2Ki 24:12-16) (This was after Jeconiah the king,
and the queen, and the eunuchs, and the officials of Judah and Jerusalem,
and the carpenters, and the smiths had departed from Jerusalem.)
3 It was sent by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah
the son of Hilkiah (whom Zedekiah, king of Judah, sent to Babylon
to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), saying:
4 (Jer 24:5) Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel,
to all who have been carried away captive whom I have caused
to be carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon:
5 (Jer 29:28) Build houses and dwell in them; and plant gardens
and eat their fruit.
6 (Jer 16:2-4) Take wives and beget sons and daughters;
and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands,
so that they may bear sons and daughters; so that you may increase
there and not diminish.
7 (Ezr 6:10; 1Ti 2:1-2) Seek the peace of the city where I have caused
you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it;
for in its peace you will have peace.
8 (Jer 5:31; 14:14) For thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel:
Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are in your midst deceive you,

A Message to Shemaiah

of Jehoiada the priest, that you should be officers in the house of the Lord,

When Joni Eareckson Tada speaks of Rika, she highlights her friend's "deep, 
time-tested faith in God" and the endurance she's developed while living with 
a debilitating chronic condition. For more than fifteen years, Rika has been 
bedbound, unable even to see the moon from her room's tiny window. But she 
hasn't lost hope; she trusts in God, reads and studies the Bible, and as Joni
describes it, she "knows how to stand firm during fierce battles against 
discouragement."

Joni likens Rika's tenacity and persistence to that of Eleazar, a soldier 
at the time of King David who refused to flee the Philistines. Instead of 
joining the troops who took off, "Eleazar stood his ground . . . till his hand
grew tired and froze to the sword" (2 Samuel 23:10). Through God's power, 
"The Lord brought about a great victory that day" (v. 10). As Joni observes, 
even as Eleazar hung on to the sword with determination, so too does Rika cling
to "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" (Ephesians 6:17). 
And there, in God, she finds her strength.

Whether in glowing good health or battling discouragement over a chronic 
condition, we too can look to God to deepen our stores of hope and to help us 
to endure. In Christ we find our strength.

Misty was only 4 when her parents divorced. Her dad moved away,
and the following summer she went with her grandparents to visit him
in his new apartment. In the swimming pool one afternoon, Grandpa stood
Misty on the side of the pool, held out his arm, and called, "Jump!"
But Misty, normally a little fish, suddenly seemed afraid of the water,
and stood trembling on the sidewalk shaking her head.
"Jump, Misty - I'll catch you!"
"Are you sure, Grandpa?"
"Of course I'm sure! Jump!"
But Misty wouldn't jump. Finally Grandpa, a bit irritated, said, "Misty, do
you think I Won't catch you? Do you think I'll just walk away?"
The tears spilled over, and Misty sobbed. "Daddy did!"
Human support systems often fail us. We disappoint those we love, and
are disappointed by them. People simply aren't there for us
when we need them most.
But God promises that with him things are different. He's always there,
always listening, always caring, always ready to support us.
"Underneath his everlasting arms".
Sometimes those arms reach out clothed in flesh, in the warm embrace
of a loved one. Sometimes they support us through the Word, sometimes through
the quiet peace that comes in prayer. Sometimes we are not aware of them
at all, but they still hold us up, supporting, surrounding, loving.
Underneath us are the everlasting arms.

Application

a) Have I ever felt abandoned by someone I loved and depended upon?

b) How have I experienced the faithfulness of God's "Everlasting arms"?

c) Now can this verse help me in times when I feel my supports have given way?

Moncton, followed by Fredericton and Saint John, each have a growing Muslim
population in New Brunswick, In 2007, the building that was formerly a Baptist
church was converted into Moncton's 1st mosque. The University of Moncton
also has a Muslim student association hosting prayer services, fellowship
getherings, and outreaches on campus.
Fredericton also has one mosque and a Muslim student association serving the
campuses of the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University.
Fredericton's Muslim population consists in 2014 of about 50 families,
and between 300 to 400 university students.
Saint John is home to the 1st Muslim Association for the province,
which also helped foster the Islamic associations of Fredericton and Moncton.
a 'musalla', or prayer location that is not officially structured as a mosque,
has been established in the Uptown area with the intention of seeing it grow
into a 2nd official place of Muslim worship. Demand for this new location has
been primarily for university students moving into the area.

Pray for Muslims and New Brunswick
- that the eyes of pastors, believers and entire congregations will be opened
to see this growing body of Muslims, and their hearts will be opened
to sharing God's love in Jesus Christ with them

- that intentional ministries to Muslims will grow and flourish in these
areas of concentration

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

Peter's Speech at Pentecost

14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice
and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,
let this be known to you, and listen to my words.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager, 
I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to
cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims 
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days! 

Pray for Canadians from Coast to Coast to Coast, that the reality of
Jesus's sacrifice and love will touch them personally.

Pray for students, that the Lord will grant them protection of body,
soul, mind and spirit and fill them with godly desires and true hope. 

Pray for the protection of those distributing Bibles in Syria,
asking the Lord to bless and multiply their efforts.

Pray to the Lord that to know the Holy Spirit.
and Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness.
