John 8:44 44 (Jn 8:38; 8:41) You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. [44] Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 1 Timothy 4:1-2 1 (Jn 16:13; 2Pe 3:3) Now the Spirit clearly says that in the last times some will depart from the faith and pay attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, 2 (Eph 4:19) speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their consciences seared with a hot iron, [1] Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; [2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Lies of universalism (All roads lead to Gog), sexuality, finances / Prosperity Gospel. iv) is used for Personal gain Galatians 5:9 9 (1Co 15:33) A little yeast leavens the whole batch. [9] A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. C) Those who teach false teaching , will be cursed. IT is as solemn utterance to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something. Luke 6:28 28 (1Pe 3:9; Lk 23:34) bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. [28] Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Romans 12:14 14 (Mt 5:44; Lk 6:28) Bless those who persecute you; bless, and do not curse. [14] Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 1 Corinthians 16:22 22 (Ro 9:3; Jn 14:21) If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. Come, O Lord! [22] If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha. Galations 3:13 13 (Dt 21:23; Gal 4:5) Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by being made a curse for us-as it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"(Dt 21:23.)- [13] Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Galatians 5:10 10 (2Co 2:3; Gal 1:7) I have confidence in you through the Lord that you will not think otherwise. But he who is troubling you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. [15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. iii) REfuse to Give in Galatians 2:5 5 (Gal 2:14; 4:16) We did not yield to subjection to them, not for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. [5] To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. [12] I would they were even cut off which trouble you. 1) Ezra 4-6, Psalms 137 Ezra 4 Resistance to Rebuilding 1 (Ezr 1:11) Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the descendants of the captivity built the temple unto the Lord God of Israel, 2 (2Ki 19:37; 17:24) they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chiefs of the fathers' households, and said to them, "Let us build with you, for, like you, we seek your God and have been sacrificing to Him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us here." 3 (Ne 2:20) But Zerubbabel, and Joshua, and the rest of the chiefs of the fathers' households of Israel said to them, "This is not for you! It is for us to build the temple of our God, so we ourselves together will build unto the Lord God of Israel, as Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us." 4 (Ezr 3:3) Then the people of the land demoralized the people of Judah and terrified them while building, 5 and hired counselors against them to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia. [1] Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel; [2] Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither. [3] But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us. [4] Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building, [5] And hired counsellers against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia. 6 (Est 1:1; Da 9:1) In the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, they wrote an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem. [6] And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem. The Letter to Artaxerxes 7 (2Ki 18:26; Da 2:4) In the days of Artaxerxes, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions wrote to Artaxerxes king of Persia, and the writing of the letter was written in Aramaic, and interpreted in Aramaic. 8 Rehum the commander and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this manner: 9 (Ezr 5:6; 6:6) (Rehum the commander, Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their colleagues, the judges, the officials, the officers, the Persians, the men of Uruk, and of Babylon, and of Susa-that is, the Elamites- 10 (Ezr 4:17; 4:11) and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Ashurbanipal deported and settled in the city of Samaria and in the rest of the province Beyond the River-and now 11 this is the copy of the letter that they sent to him)- "To Artaxerxes the king: "Your servants the men of the province Beyond the River, and so forth. 12 (2Ch 36:13; Ezr 5:3) "May it be known to the king, that the Jews who came from you have come near to us at Jerusalem and that they are building the rebellious and evil city, restoring its walls, and repairing the foundations. 13 (Ezr 7:24; Ne 5:4) "Be it known now to the king, that, if this city is rebuilt and the walls set up again, then they will not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and the revenue of the kings will be impacted. 14 Now because we are under obligation to the king's palace, and it was not appropriate for us to see the king's dishonor, therefore we have sent and notified the king, 15 so that a search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers. There you will find in the book of the records and realize that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful to kings and provinces, and that they have incited revolt within it in former times-for which cause this city was destroyed. 16 We notify the king that if this city is rebuilt and the walls repaired by this means the portion Beyond the River will no longer be yours." 17 The king sent an answer: "To Rehum the commander, to Shimshai the scribe, to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and to the remainder Beyond the River: "Peace, and so forth. 18 "The letter which you sent to us has been translated and read before me. 19 (2Ki 18:7) I commanded, and a search has been made, and it is found that this city has in the past made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and revolt have occurred there. 20 (Ge 15:18; 1Ki 4:21) There have also been mighty kings over Jerusalem, who have ruled over the whole province Beyond the River, and toll, tribute, and custom was paid to them. 21 Command these men to cease now, so that this city is not built unless I give the command. 22 Take heed now that you do not fail to do this. Why should damage increase to the hurt of the king?" 23 Now when the copy of the letter by King Artaxerxes was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem to the Jews and made them cease by force and power. 24 (Hag 1:15) Then the work of the house of God in Jerusalem ceased. So it ceased until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia. [7] And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue. [8] Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort: [9] Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites, and the Elamites, [10] And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnappar brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time. [11] This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at such a time. [12] Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations. [13] Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings. [14] Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king's dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king; [15] That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed. [16] We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river. [17] Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time. [18] The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me. [19] And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein. [20] There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them. [21] Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me. [22] Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings? [23] Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power. [24] Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia. Ezra 5 Restoration of the Temple Resumed 1 Now the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel who was over them. [1] Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them. 2 (Ezr 3:2; 6:14) Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Joshua the son of Jozadak rose up and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem, and the prophets of God were with them, helping them. [2] Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them. 3 (Ezr 6:6; 1:3; 5:9) At the same time Tattenai, governor of the province Beyond the River, and Shethar-Bozenai and their companions came to them and said to them, "Who issued a command for you to build this house and complete this structure?" 4 They also asked them, "What are the names of the men building this building?" 5 (Ezr 7:6; 7:28) But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, so that they could not cause them to cease building until a command came from Darius. Consequently, they sent a letter concerning this matter. 6 (Ezr 4:9) This is a copy of the letter that Tattenai, governor of the province Beyond the River, and Shethar-Bozenai and his colleagues, the officials who were in the province Beyond the River, sent to Darius the king. 7 This is the document that they sent to him, containing accordingly what follows: "To Darius the king: "All peace. 8 "May it be known to the king that we went into the province of Judah, to the temple of the great God, which is built with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goes diligently, and prospers in their hands. 9 "Then we questioned those elders and said to them, 'Who issued a command for you to build this house and complete this structure?' 10 Also, we asked for their names in order to notify you and to document the names of the men that were their leaders. 11 "Thus they returned us an answer, saying, " 'We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth and are rebuilding the temple that was built these many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and completed. 12 (2Ch 36:16-17; 2Ki 24:2) Afterwards, our fathers provoked the God of heaven to wrath, so He gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this temple and carried the people away into Babylon. 13 " 'However, in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon, King Cyrus made a decree to rebuild this house of God. 14 (Ezr 6:5; 5:16) The vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took from the temple in Jerusalem and placed them into the temple of Babylon, those Cyrus the king withdrew from the temple of Babylon and had them delivered to the one named Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor. 15 King Cyrus said to him, "Take these vessels, go, carry them to the temple in Jerusalem and let the house of God be built its site." 16 (Ezr 3:10; 6:15) " 'So that same Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundation of the house of God in Jerusalem. Since that time even until now it has been under construction, yet it is not finished.' 17 (Ezr 4:15) "Now therefore, if it seems good to the king, let there be search made in the king's treasure house there in Babylon to ascertain if it is so that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem. May the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter." [3] At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall? [4] Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building? [5] But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter. [6] The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and his companions the Apharsachites, which were on this side the river, sent unto Darius the king: [7] They sent a letter unto him, wherein was written thus; Unto Darius the king, all peace. [8] Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands. [9] Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls? [10] We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them. [11] And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up. [12] But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon. [13] But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God. [14] And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor; [15] And said unto him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be builded in his place. [16] Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished. [17] Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king's treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter. Thus shall his house be made a dunghill for this. 12 (1Ki 9:3; Dt 12:5) May the God who has caused His name to dwell there overthrow all kings and people who stretch forth their hand to violate or destroy this house of God in Jerusalem. "I, Darius, have issued the decree; so let it be done diligently." [11] Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this. [12] And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed. Completion and Dedication of the Temple 13 (Ezr 4:9) In compliance, Tattenai, governor of the province Beyond the River, Shethar-Bozenai, and their companions speedily accomplished what Darius the king had decreed. [13] Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shethar-boznai, and their companions, according to that which Darius the king had sent, so they did speedily. His final album, American VI: Ain't No Grave, was recorded in the final months of his life. The title song, Cash's version of a hymn by Claude Ely, gives insight into his final thoughts as we hear him sing of his hope of the resurrection. His famously deep voice, though weakened by his declining health, declares a powerful testimony of faith. Johnny's hope wasn't simply in the fact that Jesus was resurrected on Easter Sunday morning; he believed that one day his own physical body would also be resurrected, and he'd rise again. It’s an important truth to affirm because even in the days of the apostle Paul, people denied a future physical resurrection. Paul strongly critiqued their argument when he wrote, "If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith" (1 Corinthians 15:13-14). Just as the grave couldn't hold Jesus' body, one day all those who have faith that He was resurrected "will be made alive" (v. 22). In the old Days of Television Western, we could always tell who the enemy was. The bad guys wore black hats; the evil villain had a scar across his cheek or a patch over one eye. But real life is not quite so simple . Enemies come in many forms, and often are not easy to recognise. Sin is an enemy; even those we love can seek to undermine our faith; modern materialism and distorted values lead us away from biblical principles. These enemies may not seek our death in a physical sense, but their influence results in spiritual death or, at the very least, immaturity. Yet God promises to rescue us from our enemies. David describes the Lord as a "rock", a "shield", a "stronghold", and a "refuge". God provides a stable foundation for our faith; he products us from the attacks of the enemy; he offers a place of rest in battle. Our battles are usually not physical ones, but rather spiritual and emotional wars. We struggle with difficult relationships, the burdens of the past, the subtle accusations of the devil. But these enemies can be overcome. David says, "I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise" . When we turn to the Lord, trust his Word, acknowledge his worthiness, we put our own problems and difficulties in perspective. We see that God is able to rescue us, and has promised to do so. And as we respond to his grace by focusing on him, we abandon trust in ourselves and allow him to do what he promised. After 30 days of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and, of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be decorated and festivals will be held. For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam.
