Mark 5:1-20

The Healing of the Gadarene Demoniac
Mt 8:28-34; Lk 8:26-39

1 (Mt 8:28-34; Lk 8:26-39) They went to the other side of the sea
to the region of the Gadarenes.
2 (Mk 1:23) When He had come out of the boat, immediately a man
with an unclean spirit came out of the tombs and met Him.
3 He lived among the tombs. And no one could constrain him,
not even with chains,
4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains.
But he had pulled the chains apart and broken the shackles to pieces.
And no one could subdue him.
5 Always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs,
crying out and cutting himself with stones.
6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran up and kneeled before Him,
7 (Mt 8:29; Ac 16:17; Mt 4:3) and cried out with a loud voice,
"What have You to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?
I adjure You by God, do not torment me."
8 For Jesus said to him, "Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!"
9 (Mt 26:53; Lk 8:30) Then He asked him, "What is your name?"
He answered, "My name is Legion. For we are many."
10 And he begged Him repeatedly not to send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was a great herd of swine feeding near the mountains.
12 All the demons pleaded with Him, asking, "Send us to the swine,
so that we may enter them."
13 At once, Jesus gave them leave. Then the unclean spirits came out
and entered the swine. And the herd, numbering about two thousand,
ran wildly down a steep hill into the sea and were drowned in the sea.
14 Those who fed the swine fled and reported it in the city
and in the country. And people went out to see what
it was that had happened.
15 (Mk 5:9) They came to Jesus and saw him who had been possessed with
the legion of demons sitting and clothed and in his right mind.
And they were afraid.
16 Those who saw it told them how it befell him who had been possessed
with the demons and also concerning the swine.
17 (Ac 16:39; Mt 8:34) Then they began to plead with Him to depart
out of their region.
18 (Lk 8:38-39) When He entered the boat, he who had been possessed
with the demons prayed Him that he might be with Him.
19 (Ps 66:16) Jesus did not let him, but said to him,
"Go home to your friends and tell them what great things the Lord
has done for you and how He has had compassion on you."
20 (Mt 4:25; Mk 7:31) So he departed and began to proclaim in the Decapolis
[The Ten Cities.] what great things Jesus had done for him.
And everyone was amazed.

[1] And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of
the Gadarenes.
[2] And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of
the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
[3] Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not
with chains:
[4] Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the
chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces:
neither could any man tame him.
[5] And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs,
crying, and cutting himself with stones.
[6] But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
[7] And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee,
Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou
torment me not.
[8] For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
[9] And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is
Legion: for we are many.
[10] And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the
country.
[11] Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine
feeding.
[12] And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that
we may enter into them.
[13] And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out,
and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place
into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
[14] And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the
country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
[15] And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil,
and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they
were afraid.
[16] And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed
with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
[17] And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
[18] And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with
the
devil prayed him that he might be with him.
[19] Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy
friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and
hath had compassion on thee.
[20] And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things
Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. 

Matthew 8:28-34

The Healing of the Gergesene Demoniacs

Mk 5:1-20; Lk 8:26-39
28 (Mk 5:1-20; Lk 8:26-39) When He came to the other side into the country
of the Gergesenes, there met Him two men possessed with demons,
coming out of the tombs, extremely fierce, so that no one might pass
by that way.
29 (Mk 1:24; Lk 4:34) Suddenly they cried out, saying, "What have we to do
with You, Jesus, Son of God?
Have You come here to torment us before the time?"
30 Now a good way off from them was a herd of many swine feeding.
31 So the demons begged Him, saying,
"If You cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of swine."
32 He said to them, "Go!" And when they came out, they went into the herd
of swine. And suddenly the whole herd of swine ran violently down
a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.
33 Those who kept them fled, and went their ways into the city,
and told everything, including what had happened to those possessed
by the demons.
34 (Ac 16:39; Lk 5:8) The whole city came out to meet Jesus.
And when they saw Him, they begged Him to depart out of their region.

Luke 8:26-39

The Healing of the Gadarene Demoniac

26 (Mt 8:28-34; Mk 5:1-20) They sailed to the country of the Gad­arenes,
which is across from Galilee.
27 When He stepped out on land, a man from the city who had demons
for a long time met Him. He wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house
but in the tombs.
28 (Mt 8:29) When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before Him,
and with a loud voice said, "What have You to do with me, Jesus, S
on of the Most High God? I plead with You, do not torment me."
29 For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man.
It often had seized him, and he was kept under guard,
bound with chains and shackles. But he broke the shackles
and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.
30 (Mt 26:53) Jesus asked him, "What is your name?"
He said, "Legion," because many demons had entered him.
31 (Rev 9:1-2) And they begged Him not to command them to go out
into the abyss.
32 There was a large herd of swine feeding on the mountain.
They begged Him to permit them to enter them, and He permitted them.
33 Then the demons went out of the man and entered the swine,
and the herd ran violently down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.
34 When those who fed them saw what had happened, they fled and reported it
in the city and in the country.
35 (Lk 10:39; 8:27) Then they went out to see what had happened,
and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had departed
sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind.
And they were afraid.
36Those who had seen it told them how he who had been possessed by demons
was healed.
37 (Ac 16:39; Lk 5:8) Then the whole crowd from the surrounding country
of the Gadarenes asked Him to depart from them, for they were seized
with great fear. So He went into the boat and returned.
38 (Mk 5:18-20) Now the man from whom the demons had departed asked Him
if he could stay with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying,
39 (Ps 66:16) "Return to your own house, and tell what great things God
has done for you." So he went his way and proclaimed throughout
the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him. 

[26] And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against
Galilee.
[27] And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain
man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any
house, but in the tombs.
[28] When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a
loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most
high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
[29] (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For
oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in
fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the
wilderness.)
[30] And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion:
because many devils were entered into him.
[31] And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the
deep.
[32] And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and
they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he
suffered them.
[33] Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and
the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.
[34] When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told
it in the city and in the country.
[35] Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found
the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus,
clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
[36] They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of
the devils was healed.
[37] Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about
besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and
he went up into the ship, and returned back again.
[38] Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he
might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,
[39] Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto
thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great
things Jesus had done unto him. 

Mark 5:21-43

Jairus' Daughter and the Woman Who Touched Jesus' Garment
Mt 9:18-26; Lk 8:40-56

21 (Mt 9:1; Lk 8:40) When Jesus had crossed again by boat to the other side,
many people gathered to Him. And He was beside the sea.
22 (Lk 13:14; Ac 13:15) One of the rulers of the synagogue, named Jairus,
saw Jesus and came and fell at His feet
23 (Mk 16:18; Lk 4:40) and earnestly asked Him, "My little daughter
is lying at the point of death. I ask You, come and lay Your hands on her,
so that she may be healed. And she will live."
24 (Mk 5:31) So Jesus went with him.
And many people followed Him and pressed in on Him.
25 (Lev 15:25-27) And a certain woman had a hemorrhage for twelve years,
26 and had suffered much under many physicians.
She had spent all that she had, and was not better but rather grew worse.
27 When she had heard of Jesus, she came in the crowd behind Him
and touched His garment.
28 For she said, "If I may touch His garments, I shall be healed."
29 (Mk 3:10; 5:34) And immediately her hemorrhage dried up,
and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.
30 (Lk 6:19; 5:17) At once, Jesus knew within Himself that power
had gone out of Him. He turned around in the crowd and said,
"Who touched My garments?"
31 His disciples said to Him, "You see the crowd pressing against You,
and You say, 'Who touched Me?' "
32 And He looked around to see her who had done it.
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her,
came and fell down before Him and told Him the entire truth.
34 (Lk 8:48; Mt 9:22) He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made
you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction."
35 (Mk 5:22; Jn 11:28) While He was still speaking, some came from the house
of the synagogue ruler and said, "Your daughter is dead.
Why trouble the Teacher any further?"
36 (Lk 8:50) As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken,
He said to the ruler of the synagogue, "Do not be afraid, only believe."
37 (Mk 9:2; 14:33) He let no one follow Him, except Peter,
and James, and John the brother of James.
38 He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue,
and saw the tumult, and those who wept and wailed loudly.
39 (Ac 20:10) When He came in, He said to them, "Why make this uproar
and weep? The girl is not dead, but sleeping."
40 They laughed at Him in ridicule.
But when He had put them all out, He took the father and the mother
of the girl and those who were with Him and entered where the girl was lying.
41 (Mk 1:31) He took the girl by the hand and said to her, "Talitha cumi,"
which means, "Little girl, I say to you, arise."
42 I mmediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age.
And they were greatly astonished.
43 (Mt 8:4) He strictly ordered them to let no one know of it and directed
them to give her something to eat. 

[21] And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much
people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
[22] And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue,
Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
[23] And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point
of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be
healed; and she shall live.
[24] And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
[25] And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
[26] And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that
she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
[27] When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his
garment.
[28] For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
[29] And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in
her body that she was healed of that plague.
[30] And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of
him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
[31] And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging
thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
[32] And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
[33] But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came
and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
[34] And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in
peace, and be whole of thy plague.
[35] While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house
certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any
further?
[36] As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the
ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
[37] And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John
the brother of James.
[38] And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the
tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
[39] And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and
weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
[40] And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he
taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him,
and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
[41] And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi;
which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
[42] And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of
twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
[43] And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded
that something should be given her to eat. 

Matthew 9:18-26

The Ruler's Daughter and a Woman Healed
Mk 5:21-43; Lk 8:40-56

18 (Mt 8:2; Mk 5:22-43) While He was speaking these things to them,
a certain ruler came and worshipped Him, saying,
"My daughter is even now dead. But come and lay Your hand on her,
and she will live."
19 Jesus rose and followed him, and so did His disciples.
20 (Mt 14:36; Dt 22:12T) hen a woman, who was ill with a flow of blood
for twelve years, came behind Him and touched the hem of His garment.
21 For she said within herself, "If I may just touch His garment,
I shall be healed."
22 (Lk 7:50; Mt 9:2; Mk 10:52) But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her,
He said, "Daughter, be of good comfort. Your faith has made you well."
And the woman was made well instantly.
23 (2Ch 35:25) When Jesus came to the ruler's house and saw the musicians
and the mourners making a noise,
24 (Ac 20:10; Jn 11:4) He said to them, "Depart. The girl is not dead,
but is sleeping." And they laughed Him to scorn.
25 (Mk 9:27; Ac 9:40-41) But when the people were put outside,
He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.
26 (Mt 4:24; Mk 1:45) The news of this went out into all that land. 

[18] While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain
ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come
and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
[19] And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
[20] And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve
years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
[21] For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be
whole.
[22] But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be
of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made
whole from that hour.
[23] And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and
the people making a noise,
[24] He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth.
And they laughed him to scorn.
[25] But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the
hand, and the maid arose.
[26] And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land. 

Luke 8:40-56

Jairus' Daughter and the Woman Who Touched Jesus' Garment

40 (Mt 9:1; Mk 5:21) When Jesus returned, the crowd gladly received Him,
for they were all waiting for Him.
41 (Mk 5:22-43; Lk 8:49) Then a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the
synagogue, came and fell down at Jesus' feet, and begged Him to come
to his house,
42 (Lk 7:12; 8:45) for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age,
and she was dying. As He went, the people crowded Him.
43 And a woman having a hemorrhage for twelve years, who had spent all her
living on physicians, but could not be healed by anyone,
44 (Dt 22:12) came behind Him, and touched the fringe of His garment.
And immediately her hemorrhage dried up.
45 Jesus said, "Who touched Me?"
When everyone denied it, Peter and those who were with Him said,
"Master, the crowds are pressing against You,
and You say, 'Who touched Me?' "
46 (Lk 6:19; 5:17) But Jesus said, "Someone touched Me, for I perceive
that power has gone out from Me."
47 When the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling.
And falling down before Him, she declared to Him before all the people
why she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
48 (Mt 9:22; Lk 7:50) Then He said to her, "Daughter, be of good cheer.
Your faith has made you well. Go in peace."
49 (Lk 7:6) While He was still speaking, someone from the synagogue
ruler's house came, saying to Jairus,
"Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher."
50 (Mk 5:36) But when Jesus heard it, He answered him,
"Do not fear. Only believe, and she will be made well."
51 (Mk 14:33; Lk 9:28) When He came into the house, He permitted no one
to go in except Peter, John and James, and the father and mother of the girl.
52 (Lk 23:27; Jn 11:4) All wept and mourned for her. But He said,
"Do not weep. She is not dead but sleeping."
53 They laughed at Him, knowing that she was dead.
54 (Mk 1:31; Jn 11:43) But He put them all outside and took her by the hand
and called, saying, "Little girl, arise."
55 (Jn 11:44) Her spirit returned, and she arose immediately.
And He told them to give her food.
56 (Mt 8:4) Her parents were astonished, but He commanded them to tell
no one what had happened. 

[40] And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly
received him: for they were all waiting for him.
[41] And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the
synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would
come into his house:
[42] For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a
dying. But as he went the people thronged him.
[43] And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all
her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,
[44] Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately
her issue of blood stanched.
[45] And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that
were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and
sayest thou, Who touched me?
[46] And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is
gone out of me.
[47] And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and
falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for
what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediately.
[48] And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made
thee whole; go in peace.
[49] While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's
house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
[50] But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe
only, and she shall be made whole.
[51] And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save
Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
[52] And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead,
but sleepeth.
[53] And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
[54] And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying,
Maid, arise.
[55] And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded
to give her meat.

Faith and Wisdom

2 (Jas 1:12) My brothers, count it all joy
when you fall into diverse temptations,
3 (Heb 10:36; 2Pe 1:6) knowing that the trying
of your faith develops patience.
4 (Mt 5:48; Lk 21:19) But let patience perfect its work,
that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
5 (Pr 2:3-6; Jn 15:7) If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God,
who gives to all men liberally and without criticism,
and it will be given to him.
6 (Eph 4:14) But let him ask in faith, without wavering. For he who wavers
is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed with the wind.
7 Let not that man think that he will receive anything from the Lord.
8 (Jas 4:8; 2Pe 2:14) A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Poverty and Riches

9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted,
10 (1Co 7:31; 1Pe 1:24) but the rich in that he is made low,
because as the flower of the grass he will pass away.
11 (Isa 40:7-8) For the sun rises with a burning heat
and it withers the grass, and its flowers fall, and its beauty perishes.
So will the rich man wither away in his ways.

[9] Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

grass he shall pass away.
[11] For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth
the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of
it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

Trial and Temptation

12 (Jas 2:5; 1Co 9:25; 2Ti 4:8) Blessed is the man who endures temptation,
for when he is tried, he will receive the crown of life,
which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

[12] Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he
shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that
love him. 

Bob Salem holds the speed record for pushing a peanut up Pike's Peak with his 
nose-or rather, with a spoon attached to his face. He accomplished the feat in
seven days, working at night to avoid interruption from tourists. Bob is the 
fourth person to complete this stunt, which means three other very patient 
people have done it.

We might say their need for patience was self-inflicted, but so often in life 
that isn't the case. We need patience. It's a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 
5:22) and an essential virtue for becoming "that ye may be perfect and
entire, wanting nothing" (James 1:4 kjv). Patient people keep their heads when 
everyone around is in full panic. They'd like the situation to be different, 
but they don't need it to be. They stay the course, trusting God for wisdom
to act wisely (v. 5).

The problem with patience is there's only one way to learn it. James says 
"the trying of your faith worketh patience" (v. 3 kjv). Such testing comes in 
ways big and small. I'm writing this from an airport. My 11:00 p.m. flight was
delayed until 2:00 a.m., then canceled. After a night without sleep, I'm 
chugging coffee and hoping to make it home sometime. I don't like wasting an 
entire, drowsy day in an airport, but my loving Father is teaching me 
patience.  

I pray my lesson is finished for the day, but who knows? 
Time to check the standby list for the next flight.

James 1:5

5 (Pr 2:3-6; Jn 15:7) If any of you lacks wisdom,
let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally
and without criticism, and it will be given to him.

5 If any of you lack wisdom,
let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally,
and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

A new employee in an electronics plant had the responsibility
for overseeing one machine. The machine worked fine when the young man
came on duty, but soon it began to run a bit rough. The employee
tinkered with the machine, trying to "fix" it, until finally if stopped
working altogether
In fear and trembling the worker sent for the foreman, and stammered,
"I - I, well, sir, I did my best to fix it."
"Son", the foreman thundered, "you need to know only one thing. Around
here, doing you best means sending for me!"
Wisdom, James 1:5 says, has its source in God alone. And if we are
to attain wisdom, we need to learn doing our best means sending for God.
Often we spend time tinkering with our lives or the the lives of others.
We don't think to as God for his wisdom in the decisions we must take;
instead, we use our human reasoning and take our best guess.
But the path to wisdom does not lie in guesswork. The scriptures
give us clear indication of God's direction for his people, and through Bible
study, application, prayer, and meditation,
we can understand what God wants to reveal to us.
"If any of you lacks wisdom," James says, "he should ask God, who gives
generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."
The first step to attaining wisdom is recognising that we are not wise.
The second step is to ask. And God, who is faithful to his Word
and His people, will respond.

Application

Charlottetown does not currently (fall 2014) have a local CNMM network.
Pray with us for God's people to come together in reaching Muslims
cooperatively across denominational and organisational lines.

More than 200 attended the Eid festival at the end of Ramadan, the Islamic
month of fasting during daylight hours and the reading of the Qur'an, at
the Dar as-Salam mosque in 2014. This second mosque established
in Charlottetown, the other being the Muslims Association of PEI.
As of mid-2014,there are between 250 to 300 families, mostly in Charlottetown.

The Muslims of Charlottetown see their community as symbolically important
for this nation since this is known as the "birthplace of Canada". Yet we were
established as the "Dominion of Canada" with an appeal not only to
monarchial authority, but even more to God's higher Biblical authority as
shown in Psalm 72:8, "May he have dominion from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth."
Let us intercede together for:

- the growing Muslim population of Charlottetown and spreading
outward through PEI to encounter the Prince of Peace.
- believers to have faith and vision to reach out to the Muslim Community
in contextual ways to share the Gospel
- churches and ministries to rise up in wisdom, knowledge and understanding,
giving and training, coaching and encouragement to believers reaching
out to Muslims locally.
- a prayer movement to be established, feeding a growing move of Yahweh's
Spirit in His churches and people , and an awakening an openness
and spiritual hunger in Muslims for relationship with the Father
through the Son.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

Peter's Speech at Pentecost

14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice
and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,
let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,
since it is the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,
'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

Pray to the Lord and pray to know His loving healing. 

Pray to the Lord: "Father, please help me learn patience 
as I hold on to You and Your promises."

Pray to the Lord and pray to obtain wisdom from the Lord.

Pray to the Lord and pray to br faithful in stewardship.

Pray to the Lord and pray for the peace of the God to fall upon you.
