John 8:21-59

Where I Am Going You Cannot Come

21 (Jn 7:34; 8:24; 13:33) Again, Jesus said to them, "I am going away,
and you will seek Me, and you will die in your sins.
Where I am going, you cannot come."
22 (Jn 8:48; 8:52) So the Jews said, "Will He kill Himself? For He said,
'Where I am going, you cannot come.' "
23 (Jn 3:31; 17:14) He said to them, "You are from below; I am from above.
You are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 (Jn 8:21) Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins.
For unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."
25 (Jn 1:19) They said to Him, "Who are You?"
Jesus said to them, "Just who I have been telling you from the beginning.
26 (Jn 7:28; 15:15) I have many things to say and to judge concerning you,
but He who sent Me is true. So I tell the world what I heard from Him."
27 They did not understand that He spoke to them of the Father.
28 (Jn 3:14; 5:19) So Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man,
then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing of Myself.
But I speak these things as My Father taught Me.
29 (Jn 4:34; 8:16) He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me
alone, for I always do those things that please Him."
30 (Jn 7:31) As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.

[21] Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and
shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
[22] Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I
go, ye cannot come.
[23] And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of
this world; I am not of this world.
[24] I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye
believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
[25] Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even
the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
[26] I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is
true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
[27] They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
[28] Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then
shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my
Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
[29] And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for
I do always those things that please him.
[30] As he spake these words, many believed on him. 

The Truth Will Set You Free

31 (2Jn 1:9) Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him,
"If you remain in My word, then you are truly My disciples.
32 (Ro 8:2; Jas 2:12) You shall know the truth,
and the truth shall set you free."
33 (Mt 3:9; Jn 8:39) They answered Him, "We are Abraham's seed
and have never been in bondage to anyone. Why do You say,
'You shall be set free'? "
34 (Ro 6:16; 2Pe 2:19) Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly I say to you,
whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.
35 (Ge 21:10) Now a slave does not remain in the house forever,
but a son remains forever.
36 Therefore if the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed.
37 (Jn 7:1I) know that you are Abraham's seed. But you seek to kill Me,
because My word has no place in you.
38 (Jn 5:19; 8:41) I am telling what I have seen with My Father,
and you are doing what you have seen with your father."

[31] Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in
my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
[32] And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
[33] They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to
any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
[34] Jesus answered them, Verily verily, I say unto you, Whosoever
committeth sin is the servant of sin.
[35] And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth
ever.
[36] If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
[37] I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my
word hath no place in you.
[38] I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye
have seen with your father. 

Your Father the Devil
39 (Gal 3:7; Jn 8:37) They answered Him, "Abraham is our father."
Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do
the works of Abraham.
40 (Jn 8:26) But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you
the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.
41 (Isa 63:16; 64:8; Jn 8:38) You are doing the works of your father."
Then they said to Him, "We were not born of sexual immorality.
We have one Father: God."
42 (Jn 17:8; 17:25; 3:17) Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father,
you would love Me, for I came from God and proceeded into the world.
I did not come of My own authority, but He sent Me.
43 (Jer 6:10; Jn 7:17) Why do you not understand My speaking?
Because you cannot bear to hear My word.
44 (Jn 8:38; 8:41) You are of your father the devil, and you want to do
the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning,
and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he lies, he speaks from his own nature,
for he is a liar and the father of lies.
45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.
46 (Heb 4:15) Which of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak the truth,
why do you not believe Me?
47 He who is of God hears God's words. Therefore, you do not hear them,
because you are not of God."

[39] They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith
unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
[40] But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I
have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
[41] Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born
of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
[42] Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I
proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
[43] Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my
word.
[44] Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will
do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth,
because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his
own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
[45] And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
[46] Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye
not believe me?
[47] He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not,
because ye are not of God. 

The Preexistence of Jesus

48 (Jn 7:20; 4:9) The Jews answered Him,
"Do we not rightly say that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?"
49 Jesus answered, "I do not have a demon. But I honor My Father,
and you dishonor Me.
50 (Jn 5:41; 8:54) I do not seek glory for Myself. There is One who seeks
it and judges.
51 (Lk 2:26; Jn 5:24) Truly, truly I say to you, if anyone keeps My word,
he shall never see death."
52 (Heb 2:9) Then the Jews said to Him, "Now we know that You have a demon.
Abraham and the prophets died, and You say,
'If a man keeps My word, he shall never taste death.'
53 (Jn 4:12) "Are You greater than our father Abraham, who died?
The prophets are dead! Who do You make Yourself out to be?"
54 (Jn 8:50; 17:1) Jesus answered, "If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing.
It is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say that He is your God.
55 (Jn 8:19; 7:28-29) Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him.
If I say, 'I do not know Him,' I shall be a liar like you.
But I know Him and keep His word.
56 (Heb 11:13; Mt 13:17) Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day.
He saw it and was glad."
57 Then the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old.
Have You seen Abraham?"
58 (Ex 3:14; Jn 17:5; 17:24) Jesus said to them,
"Truly, truly I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM."
59 (Jn 11:8; Lev 24:16) Then they took up stones to throw at Him.
But ­Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple.
Going through their midst, He passed by. 

[48] Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou
art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
[49] Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do
dishonour me.
[50] And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
[51] Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never
see death.
[52] Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil.
Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying,
he shall never taste of death.
[53] Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the
prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
[54] Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my
Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
[55] Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know
him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his
saying.
[56] Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was
glad.
[57] Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast
thou seen Abraham?
[58] Jesus said unto them, Verily,verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham
was, I am.
[59] Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and
went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

Luke 10

The Mission of the Seventy

1 (Lk 9:52; Nu 11:16) After this the Lord appointed seventy others,
and sent them two by two ahead of Him into every city
and place where He Himself was about to come.
2 (2Th 3:1) He said to them, "The harvest truly is plentiful,
but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest
to send out laborers into His harvest.
3 (Mt 10:16) Go your ways. Listen, I am sending you out as lambs among wolves.
4 (2Ki 4:29; Lk 22:35) Carry no purse, no bag, no shoes,
and greet no one on the road.
5 (1Sa 25:6) "When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace be to this house.'
6 (Ps 35:13) If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him;
but if not, it will return upon you.
7 Remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they give,
for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Do not go from house to house.
8 (1Co 10:27) "When you enter a city and they receive you,
eat what is set before you.
9 (Mt 3:2; Lk 10:11) Heal the sick who are there and say to them,
'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'
10 But when you enter a city and they do not receive you,
go your way out into their streets and say,
11 (Lk 10:9) 'Even the dust of your city which clings to us,
we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this, that the kingdom
of God has come near to you.'
12 (Mt 10:15; 11:24) But I say to you, it will be more tolerable
on that Day for Sodom than for that city.

[1] After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them

God is come nigh unto you.
[10] But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your
ways out into the streets of the same, and say,
[11] Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off
against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is
come nigh unto you.
[12] But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for
Sodom, than for that city. 

Unrepentant Cities
Mt 11:20-24

13 (Isa 23:1-18; Eze 26:1-28:26; Joel 3:4-8) "Woe to you, Chorazin!
Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre
and Sidon which have been done for you, they would have repented long ago,
sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 (Lk 12:47-48) But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon
at the judgment than for you.
15 (Isa 14:13-15; Mt 4:13) And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven?
You will be thrust down to hell.
16 (1Th 4:8; Mt 10:40; Jn 12:48) "He who listens to you listens to Me,
he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me."

[13] Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty
works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had
a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
[14] But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than
for you.
[15] And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down
to hell.
[16] He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me;
and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me. 

The Return of the Seventy

17 (Mk 16:17; Lk 10:1) The seventy returned with joy, saying,
"Lord, even the demons are subject to us through Your name."
18 (Rev 9:1; Isa 14:12) He said to them,
"I saw Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 (Mk 16:18; Ps 91:13) Look, I give you authority to trample on serpents
and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. And nothing shall
by any means hurt you.
20 (Ex 32:32; Ps 69:28) Nevertheless do not rejoice that the spirits
are subject to you, but rather rejoice
that your names are written in heaven."

[17] And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils
are subject unto us through thy name.
[18] And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
[19] Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and
over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
[20] Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto
you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. 

The Rejoicing of Jesus
Mt 11:25-27; 13:16-17

21 (Ps 8:2; Isa 53:11) At that time Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit
and said, "I thank You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
because You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent
and revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for it was Your good pleasure.
22 (Jn 1:18; Mt 28:18) "All things have been handed over to Me by My Father.
And no one knows who the Son is but the Father, and who the Father is b
ut the Son and he to whom the Son desires to reveal Him."
23 (Mt 13:16-17) Then He turned to His disciples and said privately,
"Blessed are the eyes which see what you see.
24 (Jn 8:56; Heb 11:13) For I tell you, many prophets and kings have desired
to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear,
and have not heard it."

[21] In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O
Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the
wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so
it seemed good in thy sight.
[22] All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the
Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom
the Son will reveal him.
[23] And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are
the eyes which see the things that ye see:
[24] For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those
things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which
ye hear, and have not heard them. 

The Good Samaritan

25 (Lk 18:18; 7:30) Now, a lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying,
“Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read?"
27 (Lev 19:18; Dt 6:5; Mt 19:19) He answered, " 'You shall love the Lord
your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,
and with all your strength, and with all your mind' (Dt 6:5.)
and 'your neighbor as yourself.'(Lev 19:18)."
28 (Lev 18:5; Eze 20:11) He said to him, "You have answered correctly.
Do this, and you will live."
29 (Lk 16:15) But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus,
"And who is my neighbour?"
30 Jesus answered, "A man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho
and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing
and wounded him and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 By chance a priest came down that way. And when he saw him,
he passed by on the other side.
32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to that place, looked at him
and passed by on the other side.
33 (Mt 10:5) But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was.
And when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine.
Then he set him on his own donkey and brought him to an inn,
and took care of him.
35 The next day when he departed, he took out two denarii
(Gk. denarius, a coin worth about a day's wage.)
and gave them to the innkeeper and said to him, 'Take care of him.
I will repay you whatever else you spend when I return.'
36 " ow which of these three do you think was a neighbor to him
who fell among the thieves?"
37 (2Co 8:9; 1Pe 2:21) He said, "The one who showed mercy on him."
Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

[25] And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying,
Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
[26] He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
[27] And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy
heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy
mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
[28] And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt
live.
[29] But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my
neighbour?
[30] And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to
Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and
wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
[31] And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he
saw him, he passed by on the other side.
[32] And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on
him, and passed by on the other side.
[33] But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when
he saw him, he had compassion on him,

[35] And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave
them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou
spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
[36] Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that
fell among the thieves?
[37] And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go,
and do thou likewise. 

Visiting Martha and Mary

38 As they went, He entered a village. And a woman named Martha
welcomed Him into her house.
39 (Lk 8:35; Ac 22:3) She had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus'
feet and listened to His teaching.
40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she came to Him and said,
"Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone?
Then tell her to help me."
41 (Mt 6:25-34) Jesus answered her,
"Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things.
42 (Ps 27:4) But one thing is needed. And Mary has chosen the good part,
which shall not be taken from her." 

[38] Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain
village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
[39] And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and
heard his word.
[40] But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said,
Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her
therefore that she help me.
[41] And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful
and troubled about many things:
[42] But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which
shall not be taken away from her. 

Luke 11:1-13

Teaching About Prayer

Mt 6:9-15; 7:7-11

1 (Lk 9:18) He was praying in a certain place, and when He ceased,
one of His disciples said to Him,
"Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."
2 (Ecc 5:2) He said to them, "When you pray, say:
Our Father, who is in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
3 (Pr 30:8; Mt 6:34) Give us each day our daily bread.
4 (Mt 26:41; 18:35) And forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil."
5 Then He said to them, "Which of you has a friend and shall go to him
at midnight and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves,
6 for a friend of mine on his journey has come to me,
and I have nothing to set before him';
7 and he will answer from within, 'Do not trouble me; the door is now shut,
and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give you anything'?
8 I say to you, though he will not rise and give him ­anything ­because
he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise
and give him as much as he needs.
9 (Mt 21:22; Mk 11:24) "And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you;
seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him
who knocks it will be opened.
11 "If a son asks for bread from any of you who is a father,
will you give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will you give him
a serpent instead of a fish?
12 Or if he asks for an egg, will you offer him a scorpion?
13 (Mt 7:11; Ge 8:21) If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts
to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give
the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?" 

[1] And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he
ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John
also taught his disciples.
[2] And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in
heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in
heaven, so in earth.
[3] Give us day by day our daily bread.
[4] And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted
to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
[5] And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go
unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
[6] For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to
set before him?
[7] And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now
shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.
[8] I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his
friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as
he needeth.
[9] And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall
find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
[10] For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and
to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
[11] If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give
him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
[12] Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
[13] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children:
how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that
ask him?

Exodus 16:11-19

11 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 
12 (Ex 6:7; Joel 3:17) "I have heard the murmurings 
of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, 'In the evening 
you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread.
 And you shall know that I am the Lord your God.' "
13 (Nu 11:9; Ps 78:27-28) So in the evening the quail came up 
and covered the camp, and in the morning a layer of dew 
was surrounding the camp. 
14 (Nu 11:7-9; Ps 105:40) When the layer of dew evaporated, 
on the surface of the wilderness there lay a small flaky thing, 
as fine as the frost on the ground. 
15 (Ex 16:4; Dt 8:3) When the children of Israel saw it, they said one
 to another, "What is it?" For they did not know what it was.
And Moses said to them, "This is the bread which the Lord has 
given you to eat. 
16 (Ex 16:36) This is what the Lord has commanded, 'Every man is 
to gather of it according to what he will eat, an omer 
(About 9 inches, or 23 centimeters. )
for every man, according to the number of your people. 
Every man should take for them for whoever lives in his tent.'"
17 The children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less. 
18 When they measured it with an omer, he that gathered much had 
nothing left over, and he that gathered little had no lack. 
They gathered every man according what he could eat.
19 (Ex 12:10; 23:18) Moses said to them, 
"Let no man leave any of it until the morning."

[11] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[12] I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them,
saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled
with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.
[13] And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the
camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.
[14] And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the

nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every

[19] And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.

The world was amazed when four siblings ages one to thirteen were found alive 
in Colombia's Amazon jungle in June 2023. The siblings had survived 40 days
in the jungle after a plane crash, which killed their mother. The children, 
who were familiar with the jungle's harsh terrain, hid from wild animals in 
tree trunks, collected water from streams and rain in bottles, and ate food 
such as cassava flour from the wreckage. They also knew which wild fruits 
and seeds were safe to eat.

God sustained the siblings.

Their incredible story reminds me of how God miraculously sustained the 
Israelites in the desert for 40 years, which is recorded in the books of 
Exodus and Numbers and mentioned throughout the Bible. He preserved their 
lives so that they would know He was their God.

God turned bitter spring water into drinkable water, provided water from a 
rock twice, and guided His people in a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of
fire by night. He also provided manna for them. 
"[15] And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is
manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the
bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
[16] This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man
according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of
your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents." 
(Exodus 16:15-16).

The same God provides us with "our daily bread" (Matthew 6:11). We can trust
Him to provide for our needs "according to the riches of his glory in Christ 
Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). What a mighty God we serve!

Week 1 Knowing God's Word Day 5 - Learning by Heart

Ps 119:9,11

9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) How shall a young man keep his way pure?
By keeping it according to Your word.
11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) Your word I have hidden in my heart,
that I might not sin against You.

9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed thereto according to thy word.
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
That I might not sin against thee.

"His heart is not just in it," a gifted musician commented about the
pianist onstage. "He's here at the Orchestra Hall, playing for
thousands of people, an his technique is flawless, but something
is missing - his heart is just not in it."
The psalmist , in Psalm 119, draws a similar parallel. We "Keep our
way pure" through obedience of his Word, by ordering our lives according
to the commands of the Scriptures. But outward behaviour is not the only
essential factor in purity of life. The changes in our behaviour need to
come from the heart, from the inside out. Our "technique" for living
the Christian life may be flawless, but our obediance is founded
in heart motivation, something is certainly missing.
"I seek you with all my heart," the psalmist declares in verse 10.
Thus he can say in verse 11, "Your word I have hidden in my heart,
that I might not sin against You."
Often we refer to memorisation as "learning by heart" - and indeed
"by heart" is the biblical mandate for assimilating God's truth
into our daily lives. "By rote" or "By Mind" leaves us
intellectually overstuffed, yet spiritually starving.
When we try to apply the Word outwardly to our behaviour,
we end up in a tangle of legalism, a log "do list" by which
we hope to please God. But when we set our hearts toward God first,
then changes in our behaviour grow out of love for God and a deep
desire to serve him. Then we are truly loving and obeying God with
our whole hearts.

Application

a) In what ways have I tried to apply God's word to my behaviour
without having the truth firmly in my heart? What was the result?

b) How can I set my heart toward God and give myself more fully
to his Word?

c) What areas of my life need "purifying"? How can these verses
help me to "make my way pure"?

Charlottetown does not currently (fall 2014) have a local CNMM network.
Pray with us for God's people to come together in reaching Muslims
cooperatively across denominational and organisational lines.

More than 200 attended the Eid festival at the end of Ramadan, the Islamic
month of fasting during daylight hours and the reading of the Qur'an, at
the Dar as-Salam mosque in 2014. This second mosque established
in Charlottetown, the other being the Muslims Association of PEI.
As of mid-2014,there are between 250 to 300 families, mostly in Charlottetown.

The Muslims of Charlottetown see their community as symbolically important
for this nation since this is known as the "birthplace of Canada". Yet we were
established as the "Dominion of Canada" with an appeal not only to
monarchial authority, but even more to God's higher Biblical authority as
shown in Psalm 72:8, "May he have dominion from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth."
Let us intercede together for:

- the growing Muslim population of Charlottetown and spreading
outward through PEI to encounter the Prince of Peace.
- believers to have faith and vision to reach out to the Muslim Community
in contextual ways to share the Gospel
- churches and ministries to rise up in wisdom, knowledge and understanding,
giving and training, coaching and encouragement to believers reaching
out to Muslims locally.
- a prayer movement to be established, feeding a growing move of Yahweh's
Spirit in His churches and people , and an awakening an openness
and spiritual hunger in Muslims for relationship with the Father
through the Son.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

Peter's Speech at Pentecost

14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice
and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,
let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,
since it is the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Conclusion:

Pray to the Lord and pray to know who your spiritual father is and to be
a Good Samaritan. 

Pray to the Lord: "Dear God, thank You for providing for my every need."

Pray to the Lord and pray that the Lord help you in hiding His Word in your 
heart.

Pray to the Lord and pray do rich works for the Kingdom.

Pray to the Lord and pray to his mercies throughout the generations.
