Salutation

Galatians 3

5 (1Co 12:10; Gal 3:2) Does God give you the Spirit and work miracles
among you by the works of the law, or by hearing with faith?

with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'(Dt 6:5.)
38 This is the first and great commandment.

A picture of God's Grace

Galatians 3:10-12

10 (Dt 27:26; Jer 11:3) For all who rely on the works of the law
are under the curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone
who does not continue in all things which are written
in the Book of the Law, to do them." (Dt 27:26.)
11 (Hab 2:4; Ro 1:17) Now it is evident that no man is justified
by the law in the sight of God, for "The just shall live by faith." (Hab 2:4.)
12 (Lev 18:5; Ro 10:5-6) But the law is not of faith, for "The man who does
them shall live by them." (Lev 18:5.)

[10] For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it
is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are
written in the book of the law to do them.
[11] But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is
evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
[12] And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in
them.

Galatians 3:13-14

Through the Eyes of God

Romans 4:20-25

20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief,
but was strong in faith, giving glory to God,

had promised, He was able to perform.

John 10

The Parable of the Shepherd

1 "Truly, truly I say to you, he who does not enter by the door
into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, is a thief and a robber.
2 (Jn 10:14) But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 (Jn 10:4; 10:16) To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice.
He calls his own sheep by name, and he leads them out.
4 (Jn 10:16) When he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them.
And the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
5 Yet they will never follow a stranger, but will run away from him.
For they do not know the voice of strangers."
6 Jesus told them this parable, but they did not understand
what He was telling them.

[1] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into

Jesus the Good Shepherd

7 (Jn 10:9; 10:1) Then Jesus said to them again, "Truly, truly I say to you,
I am the door of the sheep.
8 (Eze 34:2; Jn 10:1) All who came before Me are thieves and robbers,
but the sheep did not listen to them.
9 (Jn 10:1; 14:6) I am the door. If anyone enters through Me,
he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
10 (Jn 6:33; Heb 7:25) The thief does not come, except to steal and kill
and destroy. I came that they may have life, and that they may have it
more abundantly.
11 (Isa 40:11; Eze 34:23; Heb 13:20) "I am the good shepherd.
The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
12 (Eze 34:2-6; Zec 11:16-17) But he who is a hired hand,
and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep,
sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and runs away.
So the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.
13 The hired hand runs away because he is a hired hand
and does not care about the sheep.
14 (Jn 10:27; Isa 53:11) "I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep
and am known by My own.
15 (Mt 11:27; Jn 10:11; Isa 53:10) Even as the Father knows Me,
so I know the Father. And I lay down My life for the sheep.
16 (Isa 56:8; Jn 11:52) I have other sheep who are not of this fold.
I must also bring them, and they will hear My voice. There will
be one flock and one shepherd.
17 (Jn 10:11; Heb 2:9) Therefore My Father loves Me,
because I lay down My life that I may take it up again.
18 (Jn 15:10; 14:31) No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down Myself.
I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it up again.
I received this command from My Father."
19 (Jn 9:16) Therefore there was a division again among the Jews
because of these sayings.
20 (Mk 3:21; Jn 7:20) Many of them said, "He has a demon and is insane.
Why do you listen to Him?"
21 (Ex 4:11; Ps 146:8) Others said, "These are not the words of one who
has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?"

[7] Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am
the door of the sheep.
[8] All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did
not hear them.
[9] I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall
go in and out, and find pasture.
[10] The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I
am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly.

shepherd.
[17] Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I
might take it again.
[18] No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to
lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I
received of my Father.
[19] There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
[20] And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
[21] Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a
devil open the eyes of the blind?

Jesus Rejected by the Jews

22 The Feast of the Dedication (Or Hanukkah.) was at Jerusalem,
and it was winter.
23 (Ac 3:11; 5:12) Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's Porch.
24 (Jn 1:19) Then the Jews surrounded Him, saying, "How long will You keep
us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly."
25 (Jn 8:58; 10:38) Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you did not believe.
The works that I do in My Father's name bear witness of Me.
26 (Jn 8:47) But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep,
as I said to you.
27 (Jn 10:14; 10:16) My sheep hear My voice, and I know them,
and they follow Me.
28 (Jn 6:37; 6:39-40) I give them eternal life. They shall never perish,
nor shall anyone snatch them from My hand.
29 (Jn 14:28; 17:2) My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all.
No one is able to snatch them from My Father's hand.

35 If He called them 'gods,' to whom the word of God came,
and the Scripture cannot be broken,

gods?
[35] If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the
scripture cannot be broken;
[36] Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the
world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
[37] If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
[38] But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may

baptized; and there he abode.

The Narrow Gate
Mt 7:13-14, 21-23

22 (Lk 9:51; Mk 6:6) Then He went through the cities and villages,
teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
23 Someone said to Him, "Lord, will those who are saved be few?"
He said to them,
24 "Strive to enter through the narrow gate. For many, I tell you,
will try to enter and will not be able.
25 (Mt 25:10-12; Lk 13:27) Once the Master of the house has risen up
and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door,
saying, 'Lord, Lord, open for us,' He will answer you,
'I do not know where you come from.'
26 "Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in your presence,
and you taught in our streets.'
27 (Mt 25:41; Ps 6:8; Lk 13:25) "But He will say, 'I tell you, I do not
know you, or where you come from. Depart from Me,
all you workers of iniquity.'
28 (Mt 8:11-12; 22:13) "There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth
when you see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets
in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
29 They will come from the east and from the west and from the north
and from the south and will sit down to dine in the kingdom of God.
30 (Mt 19:30; 20:16) Listen, there are the last who will be first,
and the first who will be last."

seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord,
Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not
whence ye are:
[26] Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence,
and thou hast taught in our streets.
[27] But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from
me, all ye workers of iniquity.
[28] There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see
Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God,

[29] And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the

which shall be last.

The Lament Over Jerusalem
Mt 23:37-39

31 On the same day certain Pharisees came, saying to Him,
"Get out and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You."
32 (Heb 2:10; 5:9) He said to them, "Go and tell that fox,
'Look, I cast out demons. And I perform healings today and tomorrow,
and on the third day I shall be perfected.'
33 (Mt 21:11) Nevertheless I must travel today and tomorrow
and the day following. For it cannot be that a prophet
should perish outside Jerusalem.
34 (Mt 23:37-39; Dt 32:11-12) "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which kills
the prophets and stones those who are sent to you! How often would
I have gathered your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks
under her wings, and you were not willing!
35 (Ps 118:26; Mt 21:9) Look, your house is forsaken. Truly I say to you,
you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say,
'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.'(Ps 118:26.)"

[31] The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get
thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.
[32] And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out
devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be
perfected.
[33] Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following:
for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.
[34] O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them
that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children
together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!
[35] Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto
you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is
he that cometh in the name of the Lord. 

Luke 14:1-24

Luke 14
The Healing of the Man With Edema

1 (Mk 3:2; Lk 11:37) On the Sabbath they watched Him as He went
into the house of one of the leaders of the Pharisees to eat bread.
2 There before Him was a man who had edema. (Gk. 2 lepta. A lepton,
meaning "small" or "thin," is a fraction of a penny
and about 1/128 of a denarius, which was a day's wage.
A Jewish bronze or copper coin, it was the smallest coin circulated.)
3 (Mt 12:10­) Jesus said to the lawyers and Pharisees,
"Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"
4 But they remained silent. So He took him and healed him, and let him go.
5 (Lk 13:15) Then He said, "Which of you having a donkey or an ox that
has fallen into a pit will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?"
6 (Lk 20:40) And they could not answer Him regarding these things.

[1] And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief
Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.
[2] And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.
[3] And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it
lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
[4] And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him
go;
[5] And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox
fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?
[6] And they could not answer him again to these things.

A Lesson to Guests and a Host

7 (Lk 11:43; Mt 23:6) When He marked how they chose the seats of honor,
He told a parable to those who were invited, saying to them,
8 (Pr 25:6-7) "When you are invited by any man to a wedding banquet,
do not sit down in a seat of honor, lest a more honorable man
than you be invited by him;
9 and he who invited you both will come and say to you,
'Give this man the seat,' and then you will begin with shame to take
the lowest seat.
10 (Pr 25:6-7) But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest seat,
so that when he who invited you comes, he may say to you,
'Friend, go up higher.' Then you will have respect in the presence
of those who sit at dinner with you.
11 (Lk 18:14; Pr 29:23) For whoever exalts himself will be humbled,
and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
12 Then He said also to the one who invited Him, "When you prepare a dinner
or a supper, do not call your friends or your brothers or your kinsmen
or your rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return,
and you be repaid.
13 (Lk 14:21; Ne 8:10) But when you prepare a banquet, call the poor,
the maimed, the lame, the blind,
14 (Ac 24:15; Jn 5:29) and you will be blessed, for they cannot repay you.
You shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just."

[7] And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked
how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,
[8] When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the
highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
[9] And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place;
and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
[10] But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when
he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then
shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
[11] For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth
himself shall be exalted.
[12] Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a
supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy
rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made
thee.
[13] But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the
blind:
[14] And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou
shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

The Parable of the Great Banquet
Mt 22:1-10

15 (Rev 19:9; Lk 13:29) When one of those who sat at dinner with Him heard
this, he said to Him, "Blessed is he who shall eat bread
in the kingdom of God!"
16 (Mt 22:2-14) Then He said to him, "A man prepared a banquet
and invited many,
17 and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who had been invited,
'Come, for everything is now prepared.'
18 "But they all with one mind began to make excuses. The first said to him,
'I have bought a piece of land, and I must go and see it.
I ask you to excuse me.'
19 "Another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going
to prove them. I ask you to excuse me.'

Ecclesiastes 2:1-5,11-17

The Vanity of Pleasure

1 (Ecc 8:15; Lk 12:19) And I said in my heart,
"Come, and I will test you with selfish pleasures to experience desires."
And notice that this too is vanity.
2 (Pr 14:13) And I said of frivolous fun, "They are only senseless ideas";
and regarding selfish pleasure, "What purpose is this?"
3 (Pr 20:1; Ecc 1:17) I investigated how to cheer up my body with wine,
while my heart was still guiding me with wisdom, in order to grasp
folly until I might experience what is good for sons of men to do under
heaven during the number of days that they might have life.
4 (1Ki 7:1-12) I accomplished great works. I built houses for myself,
and planted myself vineyards.
5 I made for myself royal gardens and parks, and I planted in them
all sorts of fruit trees.

11 (Ecc 1:14; 1:3) Then I turned to all the work that my hands had designed
and all the labor that I had toiled to make;
and notice, all of it was vanity and chasing the wind.
And there was no benefit under the sun.

The Fate of the Wise and the Fool

12 (Ecc 1:17; 7:25) So I turned to consider wisdom,
the folly of ideas, and foolish behavior;
for what else can a man do who comes after the king?
Or what more than those have already done?
13 (Ecc 7:11-12) Then I saw that there is more benefit in wisdom
than in foolishness, more benefit in light than in darkness.
14 (Ps 49:10; Pr 17:24) A wise man has eyes in his head so he sees
where he walks, but the fool continues in darkness.
Yet I perceived
that the same fate overtakes them all.
15 (Ecc 6:8) Then I said in my heart,
"What happens to the fool will happen to me also.
So to what advantage is my wisdom?"
Then I said to myself,
"This also is vanity."
16 (Ecc 1:11; 9:5) For there is no lasting memory for the wise or the fool,
by which in the coming days everyone will be forgotten.
How the wise dies just like the fool!
17 (Ecc 2:11) And I began to hate life for the labor that was done
under the sun was contemptible to me, for all of this was vanity
and chasing the wind. 

1 I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth,
therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity.

Matthew 6:33

33 (1Ti 4:8; 1Ki 3:11-13) But seek first the kingdom of God
and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you.

these things shall be added unto you.


In 1921, artist Sam Rodia began construction on his Watts Towers. 33 years 
later, 17 sculptures rose as high as thirty meters over Los Angeles. Musician 
Jerry Garcia was dismissive of Rodia's lifework. "That's the payoff," said 
Garcia. "That thing that exists after you're dead." Then he said, 
"Wow, that's not it for me."

So what was the payoff for him? His bandmate Bob Weir summed up their 
philosophy: "In eternity, nothing will be remembered of you. So why not just 
have fun?"

A wealthy, wise man once tried to find the "payoff" by doing everything he 
possibly could. He wrote, "I said to myself, 'Come now, I will test you with 
pleasure to find out what is good'" (Ecclesiastes 2:1). But he noted, "The 
wise, like the fool, will not be long remembered" (v. 16). He concluded, 
"The work that is done under the sun was grievous to me" (v. 17).

The life and message of Jesus radically counter such shortsighted living. 
Jesus came to give us "life to the full" (John 10:10) and taught us to live 
this life with the next one in view."Do not store up for yourselves treasures
on earth," He said. "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven"
(Matthew 6:19-20). Then He summed it up: "Seek first [God's] kingdom and his 
righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (v. 33).

That's the payoff-both under the sun and beyond.

Week 2 - Saved by Grace - Day 1 - Sin Universal

Romans 3:23-24

A distinguished middle-aged man stood trembling before his church
to give his testimony. Years before, in the grip of a mental illness
that nearly destroyed his life, he had taken the life of his own daughter
and tried to kill himself. But he did not die; tried and convicted, he
spent years in prison, and even longer in the prison of his own guilt.
After the service, a young woman walked up to him and simply said,
"Thank you for sharing. I've sinned, too."
We've all sinned, too - lest we forget or rationalise, the Bible reminds
us in no uncertain terms. And the writer of these verses was no stranger
to sin: he was the Pharisee, the holier-than-thou religious leader
who officiated at the stoning death of Stephen. He was the Jew who had
scattered and killed the followers of this heretic called Christ. He
thought he was righteous while he murdered God's people.
Christians tends to establish a "hierarchy" of sin - sexual sin is "worse"
than pride: murder is "more horrible" than slander. Yet the Bible gives
no indication that god acknowledges our hierarchy. Sin is sin; all have
sinned, and if we are guilty at one point, we are guilty of all.
Rather than rationalise our individual sins as being "less bad"
than someone else's, we need to openly confess our dilemma as sinners
and turn to God for his remedy. We cannot and do not need to earn or
deserve that grace - it is a gift from God.

Application

a) Have I ever compared my sin with someone else's in order
to make myself fell like a better person? Why is such
comparison not a valid remedy for sin?

b) Why do I need to acknowledge my sin honestly before I can
receive justification?

Charlottetown does not currently (fall 2014) have a local CNMM network.
Pray with us for God's people to come together in reaching Muslims
cooperatively across denominational and organisational lines.

More than 200 attended the Eid festival at the end of Ramadan, the Islamic
month of fasting during daylight hours and the reading of the Qur'an, at
the Dar as-Salam mosque in 2014. This second mosque established
in Charlottetown, the other being the Muslims Association of PEI.
As of mid-2014,there are between 250 to 300 families, mostly in Charlottetown.

The Muslims of Charlottetown see their community as symbolically important
for this nation since this is known as the "birthplace of Canada". Yet we were
established as the "Dominion of Canada" with an appeal not only to
monarchial authority, but even more to God's higher Biblical authority as
shown in Psalm 72:8, "May he have dominion from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth."
Let us intercede together for:

- the growing Muslim population of Charlottetown and spreading
outward through PEI to encounter the Prince of Peace.
- believers to have faith and vision to reach out to the Muslim Community
in contextual ways to share the Gospel
- churches and ministries to rise up in wisdom, knowledge and understanding,
giving and training, coaching and encouragement to believers reaching
out to Muslims locally.
- a prayer movement to be established, feeding a growing move of Yahweh's
Spirit in His churches and people , and an awakening an openness
and spiritual hunger in Muslims for relationship with the Father
through the Son.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

Peter's Speech at Pentecost

14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice
and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,
let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,
since it is the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

middle of life's storms" .

Pray to the Lord and pray to know him as the Good Shepherd. 

Pray to the Lord: "Father God, please help me serve You joyfully with eternity
in view."

Pray to the Lord and pray to know that you are sinner and that only
the Lord can help you.

Pray to the Lord and pray to know the Lord as Provider.

Pray to the Lord and pray to know the Lord as Mercy and truth.

Pray for Prince Edward Island and her Muslim populations
