John 11:38-57

Lazarus Brought to Life

38 (Mt 27:60; Jn 11:33) Then Jesus, again groaning within Himself,
came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it.
39 (Jn 11:17) Jesus said, "Take away the stone."
Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him,
"Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days."
40 (Jn 11:4; 11:23-26) Jesus said to her,
"Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?"
41 (Jn 17:1; Mt 11:25) So they took away the stone from the place where
the dead man was lying. Jesus lifted up His eyes and said,
"Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
42 (Jn 3:17; 17:21) I know that You always hear Me. But because of the people
standing around, I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me."
43 When He had said this, He cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!"
44 (Jn 20:7; 19:40) He who was dead came out, his hands and feet wrapped
with grave clothes, and his face wrapped with a cloth.
Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."

[38] Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a
cave, and a stone lay upon it.
[39] Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was
dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead
four days.
[40] Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest
believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
[41] Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid.
And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast
heard me.
[42] And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which
stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
[43] And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come
forth.
[44] And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes:
and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose
him, and let him go. 

The Plot to Kill Jesus
Mt 26:1-5; Mk 14:1-2; Lk 22:1-2

45 (Jn 2:23; 11:19) Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary,
and saw what Jesus had done, believed in Him.
46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees
and told them what Jesus had done.
47 (Mt 26:3; 5:22) Then the chief priests and the Pharisees
assembled the Sanhedrin and said,
"What shall we do? This Man is performing many signs.
48 If we leave Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him,
and the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation."
49 (Mt 26:3; Jn 11:51) Then one of them named Caiaphas,
who was the high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all,
50 (Jn 18:14) nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man
should die for the people, that the whole nation should not perish."
51 (Ex 28:30; 1Sa 23:9) He did not say this on his own authority.
But being the high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die
for the nation,
52 (Jn 10:16; Isa 49:6) and not for the nation only, but that He might
also gather together in unity the children of God who were scattered abroad.
53 So from that day forward they planned to put Him to death.
54 (Jn 7:1; 2Ch 13:19 ) Therefore Jesus no longer walked
openly among the Jews, but went away from there to the country
near the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim,
and remained there with His disciples.
55 (Jn 2:13; 6:4) Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand.
Many went up to Jerusalem from the country before the Passover
to purify themselves.
56 (Jn 7:11) Then they searched for Jesus and said among themselves
as they stood in the temple,
"What do you think, that He will not come to the feast?"
57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders
that if anyone knew where He was, he should report it,
that they might seize Him. 

[45] Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which
Jesus did, believed on him.
[46] But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what
things Jesus had done.
[47] Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said,
What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
[48] If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans
shall come and take away both our place and nation.
[49] And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year,
said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
[50] Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for
the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
[51] And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he
prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
[52] And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together
in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
[53] Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to
death.
[54] Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence
unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there
continued with his disciples.
[55] And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the
country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
[56] Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood
in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
[57] Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment,
that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take
him. 

Luke 17:11-37

The Cleansing of Ten Lepers

11 (Lk 9:51-52; Jn 4:3-4) As Jesus went to Jerusalem,
He passed between Samaria and Galilee.
12 (Lev 13:45-46) As He entered a village, there met Him ten men who were
lepers, who stood at a distance.
13 They lifted up their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"
14 (Lk 5:14) When He saw them, He said to them,
"Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.
15 One of them, when he saw that he was healed,
returned with a loud voice glorifying God,
16 (Mt 10:5) and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks.
And he was a Samaritan.
17 Jesus said, "Were not the ten cleansed? Where are the nine?
18 Were there not any found to return and give glory to God
except this foreigner?"
19 (Mt 9:22; Mk 10:52) Then He said to him, "Rise, go your way.
Your faith has made you well."

[11] And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through
the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
[12] And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that
were lepers, which stood afar off:
[13] And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on

[14] And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the
priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

The Coming of the Kingdom
Mt 24:23-28, 37-41

20 (Lk 19:11) When He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God
would come, He answered them, "The kingdom of God does not come
with observation.
21 (Lk 17:23) Nor will they say, 'Here it is!' or 'There it is!'
For remember, the kingdom of God is within you."
22 (Mt 9:15; Lk 5:35) Then He said to the disciples,
"The days will come when you will desire to see
one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.
23 (Lk 21:8; 17:21) They will say to you, 'Look here,' or 'Look there!'
Do not follow after them.
24 (Mt 24:27) For as the lightning flashes and lights up the heavens
from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in His day.
25 (Mt 16:21; Lk 9:22) But first He must suffer many things
and be rejected by this generation.
26 (Ge 7:7-23; Mt 24:37-39) "Just as it was in the days of Noah,
so will it be in the days of the Son of Man.
27 They were eating, drinking, marrying, and were given in marriage
until the day when Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came
and destroyed them all.

they bought, they sold, they planted, they built.
29 (2Pe 2:6) But on the day that Lot departed from Sodom,
fire and brimstone rained from heaven and destroyed them all.

when the Son of Man is revealed.
31 On that day let him who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house,
not come down to take them away. And likewise let him who is in the field
not return to the things behind.
32 (Ge 19:26) Remember Lot's wife.
33 (Mt 10:39; Jn 12:25) Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it,
and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
34 I tell you, on that night two men will be in one bed;
the one will be taken and the other will be left.

36 Two men will be in the field;

[20] And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God
should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with
observation:
[21] Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom
of God is within you.
[22] And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall
desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.
[23] And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them,
nor follow them.
[24] For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven,
shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in
his day.

Luke 18:1-8

Luke 18
The Parable of the Widow and the Judge

1 (Col 4:2; Ro 12:12) He told them a parable to illustrate
that it is necessary always to pray and not lose heart.
2 (Lk 18:4) He said: "In a city there was a judge who did not
fear God or regard man.
3 (Isa 1:17) And a widow was in that city. She came to him, saying,
'Avenge me against my adversary.'
4 "He would not for a while. Yet afterward he said to himself,
'Though I do not fear God or respect man,
5 (Lk 11:8) yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her,
lest by her continual coming she will weary me.' "
6 And the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge says.
7 (Rev 6:10; Ps 88:1) And shall not God avenge His own elect
and be patient with them, who cry day and night to Him?
8 I tell you, He will avenge them speedily.
Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?" 

[1] And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to
pray, and not to faint;

Matthew 23:23-33

hypocrites! You tithe mint and dill and cumin, but have neglected
the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith.
These you ought to have done without leaving the others undone.
24 (Mt 19:24) You blind guides who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!
25 (Mt 15:19-20; Lk 11:39-40) "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! You cleanse the outside of the cup and dish,
but inside they are full of extortion and greed.
26 You blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish,
that the outside of them may also be clean.
27 (Lk 11:44; Ac 23:3) "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
You are like whitewashed tombs, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly,

How can you escape the judgment of hell?

been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
[31] Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of
them which killed the prophets.
[32] Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
[33] Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation
of hell? 

In the worst UK residential fire since World War II, fire engulfed the 
twenty-four story Grenfell Tower building in West London, claiming the lives 
of seventy people. Investigations revealed a primary reason the flames spread 
so quickly was the cladding used as part of renovation that covered the 
building's exterior. The material was aluminum on the outside but had an 
extremely flammable plastic core.

How was such a dangerous material allowed to be sold and installed? The 
product's sellers failed to disclose poor fire safety test results. And 
buyers, drawn by the material's cheap price tag, failed to heed warning signs.
The shiny cladding looked nice on the outside.

Some of Jesus' harshest words were directed at religious teachers He accused 
of covering corruption behind a nice-looking exterior. He said they were like 
"whitewashed tombs"-"beautiful on the outside" but inside full of dead bones 
(Matthew 23:27). Instead of pursuing "justice, mercy and faithfulness" 
(v. 23), they were focused on looking good—cleaning "the outside of the cup" 
but not the "greed and self-indulgence" inside (v. 25).

It's easier to focus on looking good than to bring our sin and brokenness 
honestly before God. But a nice-looking exterior doesn't make a corrupt heart 
any less dangerous. God invites us to let Him transform all of us from the 
inside (1 John 1:9).

Week 2 - Saved by Grace - Day 3 - The Remedy

Acts 4:12

12 (Mt 1:21; Jn 3:36) "There is no salvation in any other,
for there is no other name under heaven given among men
by which we must be saved."

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name
under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

"You have cancer", the doctor told his patient. "We need to operate
- as soon as possible. It's the only remedy." The patient, not wanting
to undergo surgery unless it was absolutely necessary, sought out a second
opinion, then a third. When the third round of testing came up with the same
results, she returned to the doctor and submitted herself to the treatment.
Often the remedy for the problems in our lives seems worst than the problems
themselves. We don't want to endure the pain of self-examination, of honest
confrontation with our sin and selfishness. We'd rather live in "blissful
ignorance" than face up to ourselves.
But the Bible tells us there is only one remedy for sin: casting ourselves
upon the saving grace of God in Jesus Christ. Submitting ourselves to God's
"treatment" for sin is not an easy matter or a simple decision. We have to
give up on ourselves, on our own striving for self-salvation. We have to come
to the agonising realisation of our sin, the depths to which we have fallen.
Acknowledging sin is not a duty simply for "bad" people who have lived in
rebellion against God. "Good" people - Sunday-school kids, moral parents,
and sweet little grandmothers - may have more difficulty coming to Christ
than swindlers and prostitutes, precisely because their sin is not as
visible - sometimes it is even applauded by church and society.
"Good" or "bad", we all have the same problem: sin. And, because
of the Lord's grace, we all have the same remedy: salvation through Christ.
As we look to him, not to others, and see ourselves in light of his holiness,
we can glimpse the seriousness of our own resistance to him and call upon
his name.

Charlottetown does not currently (fall 2014) have a local CNMM network.
Pray with us for God's people to come together in reaching Muslims
cooperatively across denominational and organisational lines.

More than 200 attended the Eid festival at the end of Ramadan, the Islamic
month of fasting during daylight hours and the reading of the Qur'an, at
the Dar as-Salam mosque in 2014. This second mosque established
in Charlottetown, the other being the Muslims Association of PEI.
As of mid-2014,there are between 250 to 300 families, mostly in Charlottetown.

The Muslims of Charlottetown see their community as symbolically important
for this nation since this is known as the "birthplace of Canada". Yet we were
established as the "Dominion of Canada" with an appeal not only to
monarchial authority, but even more to God's higher Biblical authority as
shown in Psalm 72:8, "May he have dominion from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth."
Let us intercede together for:

- the growing Muslim population of Charlottetown and spreading
outward through PEI to encounter the Prince of Peace.
- believers to have faith and vision to reach out to the Muslim Community
in contextual ways to share the Gospel
- churches and ministries to rise up in wisdom, knowledge and understanding,
giving and training, coaching and encouragement to believers reaching
out to Muslims locally.
- a prayer movement to be established, feeding a growing move of Yahweh's
Spirit in His churches and people , and an awakening an openness
and spiritual hunger in Muslims for relationship with the Father
through the Son.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

a) Pray for the Province of Quebec

I) Pray for the leaders of Quebec,
that God's Spirit would influence
then to act justly,
serve with integrity
and honour high moral standards. ( 1 Tim 2:1 - 4

1 Therefore I exhort first of all that you make supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone,
2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings and for all who are in authority,
that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty,
3(1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good
and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all men to be saved
and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

II) Pray for the churches of the province,
that they would be lighthouses
beaming forth the illuminating truth of God's Word.

III) Pray that the Lord would use
the Finding the Hope Campaign
and booklet to turn many hearts to Jesus

b) Pray that the influence of the Holy Spirit would dissolve
every argument and pretension exalted against the knowledge
of God.

Conclusion:

Pray to the Lord and pray to persistent call upon Him. 

Pray to the Lord: "Gracious God, please help me not to hide my 
brokenness but let You transform all of me."

Pray to the Lord and pray to know that Jesus is the only cure 
and redemption for Sin.

Pray to the Lord and pray to bknow Him as the creator of wealth.

Pray to the Lord and pray to give Him all your trials and temptations.

Pray for Prince Edward Island and her Muslim populations

- the growing Muslim population of Charlottetown and spreading
outward through PEI to encounter the Prince of Peace.
- believers to have faith and vision to reach out to the Muslim Community
in contextual ways to share the Gospel
- churches and ministries to rise up in wisdom, knowledge and understanding,
giving and training, coaching and encouragement to believers reaching
out to Muslims locally.
- a prayer movement to be established, feeding a growing move of Yahweh's
Spirit in His churches and people , and an awakening an openness
and spiritual hunger in Muslims for relationship with the Father
through the Son.
