GENESIS 48

Jacob Blesses Joseph's Sons

1 After these things, Joseph was told, "Your father is sick." 
So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim with him. 
2 When Jacob was told, "Your son Joseph is coming to you," 
Israel strengthened himself and sat up in the bed.
3 (Ge 17:1; Ex 6:3) Jacob said to Joseph, "God Almighty appeared to me at Luz
in the land of Canaan, and blessed me. 
4 (Ge 17:8) And He said to me, 'I will make you fruitful 
and multiply you, and I will make you into 
a multitude of people and will give this land 
to your descendants after you for an everlasting possession.'
5 (Ge 41:50-52; 46:20) "Now your two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh,
who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you in Egypt, 
are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine. 
6 Any children you have after them will be yours and will be called 
by the names of their brothers in their inheritance. 
7 (Ge 35:9; 35:16-19) As for me, when I came from Paddan, 
Rachel died beside me in the land of Canaan on the way,
 when there was still some distance to get to Ephrath, 
and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem)."
8 Then Israel saw Joseph's sons and said, "Whose are these?"
9 (Ge 27:4; 33:5) And Joseph said to his father, "They are my sons,
 whom God has given me in this place."
And he said, "Please bring them to me, and I will bless them."
10 (Ge 27:1; 27:27) Now the eyes of Israel were dim with age,
 so that he could not see. So Joseph brought them near to him,
 and he kissed them and embraced them.
11 (Ge 37:33; 45:26) Israel said to Joseph, "I never thought I would see
 your face, but here God has also shown me your children."
12 (Ge 42:6) So Joseph took them from beside his knees, 
and he bowed down with his face to the ground. 
13 Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's
 left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand,
 and brought them near him. 
14 (Ge 41:51) Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on Ephraim's 
head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh's head, crossing 
his hands, for Manasseh was the firstborn.
15 (Ge 17:1) He blessed Joseph and said,
'God, before whom my fathers
Abraham and Isaac walked,
the God who fed me
all my life long to this day,
16 (Ps 34:22; 121:7) the angel who redeemed me from all evil,
bless the boys;
let them be called by my name,
and the name of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac;
and let them grow into a multitude
in the midst of the earth."
17 (Ge 48:14) When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand 
on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him, and he took hold of his father's
 hand to remove it from Ephraim's head to Manasseh's head. 
18 Joseph said to his father, "Not so, my father, for this one is the firstborn.
 Put your right hand on his head."
19 (Dt 33:17) His father refused and said, "I know it, my son, I know it. 
He will also become a people, and he will also be great,
 but truly his younger brother will be greater than he,
 and his descendants will become a multitude of nations." 
20 (Ru 4:11-12) He blessed them that day, saying,
"By you Israel will bless, saying,
'May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh.' "
So he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
21 (Ge 46:4; 50:24) Israel said to Joseph, "I am about to die, but God will
 be with you and return you again to the land of your fathers. 
22 (Jos 24:32; Jn 4:5) Moreover, I have given to you one portion 
more than your brothers, which I took out of the hand of the Amorites
 with my sword and my bow."

Genesis 48
[1] And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold,
thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
[2] And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee:
and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.
[3] And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the
land of Canaan, and blessed me,
[4] And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee,
and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to
thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.
[5] And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in
the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben
and Simeon, they shall be mine.
[6] And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and
shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.
[7] And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of
Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath:
and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.
[8] And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, Who are these?
[9] And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given
me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will
bless them.
[10] Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And
he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.
[11] And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and,
lo, God hath shewed me also thy seed.
[12] And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed
himself with his face to the earth.
[13] And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's
left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and
brought them near unto him.
[14] And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's
head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding
his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.
[15] And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham
and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,
[16] The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my
name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let
them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
[17] And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head
of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove
it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.
[18] And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the
firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head.
[19] And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also
shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger
brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of
nations.
[20] And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless,
saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before
Manasseh.
[21] And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you,
and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.
[22] Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I
took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow. 

GENESIS 49

Jacob Blesses His Sons

Dt 33:1-29

1( Nu 24:14; Jer 23:20) Jacob called to his sons and said,
"Gather yourselves together, so that I may tell 
you what will befall you in the last days.
2 (Ps 34:11) Gather yourselves together and hear, sons of Jacob,
and listen to your father Israel.
3 (Dt 21:17; Ge 29:32) Reuben, you are my firstborn,
my might and the beginning of my strength,
the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power.
4 (Ge 35:22; Dt 27:20) Unstable as water, you shall not excel,
because you went up to your father's bed;
then you defiled it - he went up to my couch.
5 (Ge 29:33-34; 34:25-31) Simeon and Levi are brothers;
weapons of violence are their swords.
6 (Ps 26:9; Ge 34:30) Let my soul not enter into their council;
let my glory not be united with their assembly;
for in their anger they killed men
and in their self-will they hamstrung oxen.
7 (Jos 19:1-9; 1Ch 4:24-3)1 Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce;
and their wrath, for it is cruel!
I will divide them in Jacob
and scatter them in Israel.

13 (Dt 33:18-19; Ge 30:20) Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea;
and he shall be a haven of ships.
His border shall be at Sidon.
14(Ge 30:18; 1Ch 12:32) Issachar is a strong donkey,
lying down between two burdens;
15 he saw that a resting place was good,
and that the land was pleasant;
so he bowed his shoulder to bear the burden
and became a slave to forced labor.
16 (Ge 30:6; Dt 33:22) Dan shall judge his people
as one of the tribes of Israel.
17 Dan shall be a serpent by the road,
a viper on the path,
that bites the horse's heels
so that its rider will fall backward.
18 (Ps 119:166; 119:174) I wait for Your salvation, O Lord!
19 (Ge 30:11 ) Gad shall be attacked by raiding bands,
but he shall raid at their heels.
20 (Ge 30:13; Dt 33:24-25) Asher's food shall be rich,
and he shall yield royal delicacies.
21 (Dt 33:23; Ge 30:8) Naphtali is a doe set loose;
he gives beautiful words.
22 (Ge 41:52) Joseph is a fruitful bough,
a fruitful bough by a spring,
whose branches run over the wall.
23 (Ge 37:24; 37:28) The archers bitterly attacked him,
they shot at him and hated him.
24 (Ps 132:2; 132:5) But his bow remained firm.
His arms were agile
because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob,
because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,
25 (Ge 28:13; 17:1) because of the God of your father who will help you,
and by the Almighty who will bless you
with blessings from heaven above,
blessings from the deep that lies beneath,
the blessings of the breasts and the womb.
26 (Dt 33:15-16; Hab 3:6) The blessings of your father have surpassed
the blessings of my fathers,
up to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills.
They will be on the head of Joseph,
and on the crown of the head of him who was set apart from his brothers.
27 (Ge 35:18; Jdg 20:21) Benjamin is a ravenous wolf;
in the morning he devours the prey,
and at night he divides the spoil."
28 These are all the twelve tribes of Israel, 
and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them. 
He blessed them, each with the blessing appropriate to him.

Genesis 49
[1] And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together,
that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
[2] Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto
Israel your father.
[3] Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my
strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
[4] Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy
father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
[5] Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their
habitations.
[6] O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine
honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their
selfwill they digged down a wall.
[7] Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was
cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
[8] Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in
the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
[9] Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he
stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him
up?
[10] The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between
his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people
be.
[11] Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice

[22] Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose
branches run over the wall:
[23] The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
[24] But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made
strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the
shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
[25] Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the
Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of
the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
[26] The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my
progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on
the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate
from his brethren.
[27] Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the
prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.
[28] All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their
father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his
blessing he blessed them.

The Death of Jacob

29 (Ge 47:30; 50:13) Then he charged them and said to them, 
"I am about to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers
 in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, 
30 in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, 
which is before Mamre in the land of Canaan, 
which Abraham bought along with the field from
 Ephron the Hittite as a burial place. 
31 (Ge 25:9; 35:29) They buried Abraham and Sarah his wife there. 
They buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife there, and I buried Leah there. 
32 The field and the cave that is there were purchased 
from the children of Heth."
33 (Ge 49:29; 25:8) When Jacob finished instructing his sons, 
he drew his feet into the bed, breathed his last, 
and was gathered to his people.

[29] And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my
people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron
the Hittite,
[30] In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre,
in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the
Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
[31] There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac
and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.
[32] The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the
children of Heth.
[33] And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up
his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his
people.

GENESIS 50

The Burial of Jacob

1 (Ge 46:4) Then Joseph fell on his father's face and wept over him 
and kissed him. 
2 (Ge 50:26; 2Ch 16:14) Joseph commanded his servants the physicians
 to embalm his father. So the physicians embalmed Israel. 
3 (Nu 20:29; Dt 34:8) Forty days were required for him, 
for such is the time required for those who are embalmed. 
Then the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days.
4 When the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spoke
 to the household of Pharaoh, saying, "If now I have found favor 
in your eyes, speak to Pharaoh, saying, 
5(2Ch 16:14; Isa 22:16)'My father made me swear, saying,
"I am about to die. Bury me in my tomb which
 I dug for myself in the land of Canaan." 
Now therefore please let me go up and bury my father, 
and then I will return.' "
6 Pharaoh said, "Go up and bury your father, as he made you swear to do."
7 Joseph went up to bury his father, and all the servants of Pharaoh 
went up with him too, the elders of his household and all the elders 
of the land of Egypt,
8 all the house of Joseph and his brothers and his father's household. 
They left only their little ones and their flocks and their herds 
in the land of Goshen. 
9 Both the chariots and horsemen also went up with him. 
It was a very great company.
10 (Ac 8:2; 2Sa 1:17) When they came to the threshing floor of Atad, 
which is beyond the Jordan, they mourned with a great 
and very sorrowful lamentation. 
He observed seven days of mourning for his father. 
11 When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, 
saw the mourning at the threshing floor of Atad, they said, 
"This is a grievous mourning for the Egyptians."
 Therefore the place was called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.
12 So his sons did with him just as he had commanded them. 
13 (Ge 23:16-18; Ac 7:16) For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan
 and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, near Mamre, 
which Abraham bought with the field as a burial site from Ephron the Hittite. 
14 After he had buried his father, Joseph returned to Egypt, 
he and his brothers and all who went up with him to bury his father.

Genesis 50
[1] And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed
him.
[2] And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father:
and the physicians embalmed Israel.
[3] And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of
those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and
ten days.
[4] And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house
of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray
you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
[5] My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have
digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore
let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.
[6] And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee
swear.
[7] And Joseph went up to bury his father: and with him went up all the
servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land
of Egypt,
[8] And all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house:
only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the
land of Goshen.
[9] And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very
great company.
[10] And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which is beyond Jordan,
and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a
mourning for his father seven days.
[11] And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning
in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the
Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond

[12] And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:
[13] For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the
cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a

[14] And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went
up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

Joseph Reassures His Brothers

15 When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead,
 they said, "Perhaps Joseph will hate us and will certainly 
pay us back for all the wrong we did to him." 
16 So they sent a message to Joseph, saying, 
"Your father gave this command before he died: 
17 (Ge 49:25)'Say to Joseph, 
"I beg you, forgive the transgressions of your brothers
and their sin. For they did evil to you." ' 
Now, please forgive the transgressions of the servants 
of the God of your father." And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
18 Then his brothers also went and fell down before his face and said, 
"We are your servants."
19 (Ge 30:2; 2Ki 5:7) Joseph said to them, "Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? 
20 (Ro 8:28) But as for you, you intended to harm me,
 but God intended it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, 
to save many lives. 
21(Ge 47:12)So now, do not fear. I will provide for you
 and your little ones." So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

[15] And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said,
Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil
which we did unto him.
[16] And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command
before he died, saying,
[17] So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of
thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray
thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And
Joseph wept when they spake unto him.
[18] And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they
said, Behold, we be thy servants.
[19] And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
[20] But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good,
to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
[21] Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones.
And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

The Death of Joseph

22 Joseph stayed in Egypt, he and his father's household, 
and Joseph lived one hundred and ten years. 
23 (Ge 30:3; Nu 32:39) Joseph saw Ephraim's children to the third generation.
 Also, the children of Makir, the son of Manasseh, 
were brought up on Joseph's knees.
24 (Ge 26:3; 35:12; 46:4) Joseph said to his brothers, "I am about to die. 
God will surely come to you and bring you out of this land
 to the land of which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob." 
25 (Ex 13:19; Jos 24:32) Then Joseph made the sons of Israel swear, saying, 
"God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here."
26 So Joseph died at the age of one hundred and ten years old, 
and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

[22] And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived
an hundred and ten years.
[23] And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children
also of Machir the son Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.
[24] And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit
you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham,
to Isaac, and to Jacob.
[25] And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will
surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.
[26] So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed
him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

Sons of Israel

Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,

Sons of Israel

1 These are the sons of Israel; Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, Issachar, 
and Zebulun, 
2 Dan, Joseph, and Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

From Judah to David

3 (Ge 38:2-10; 46:12) The sons of Judah were
Er, Onan, and Shelah: These three were born to him by 
the daughter of Shua the Canaanitess. Now Er, the firstborn of Judah, 
was evil in the sight of the Lord, and He put him to death. 
4 (Mt 1:3; Ge 38:13-30; Ru 4:12) Then Tamar his daughter-in-law 
bore Perez and Zerah for him. In all, Judah had five sons.
5 (Ge 46:12; Nu 26:21) The sons of Perez were
Hezron and Hamul.
6 The sons of Zerah were
Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Kalkol, and Dara, five of them in all.
7Jos 6:18The sons of Karmi were
Achar, the troubler of Israel, who acted unfaithfully in regard to the ban.
8 The son of Ethan was
Azariah.
9 (Ru 4:19; 1Ch 2:42) Now the sons of Hezron, who were born to him, were
Jerahmeel, Ram, and Kelubai.


3 The sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah: which three were born unto 
him of the daughter of Shua the Canaanitess. And Er, the firstborn of Judah, 
was evil in the sight of the LORD; and he slew him. 
4 And Tamar his daughter in law bare him Pharez and Zerah.
All the sons of Judah were five.
5 The sons of Pharez; Hezron, and Hamul. 
6 And the sons of Zerah; Zimri, and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, and Dara: 
five of them in all. 
7 And the sons of Carmi; Achar, the troubler of Israel, who transgressed 
in the thing accursed. 
8 And the sons of Ethan; Azariah.
9 The sons also of Hezron, that were born unto him; Jerahmeel, and Ram, 
and Chelubai. 

Sons of Ram

10(Mt 1:4; Nu 1:7)Ram became the father of

After viewing world-class ceramic sculptures at an art museum, I was invited 
to create my own pinch pot from air-dry clay. I spent two hours shaping a 
little bowl, engraving patterns and painting. The result of all my hard work 
was underwhelming: a tiny, misshapen pot with uneven colour. It wasn't going 
to end up in a museum anytime soon.

Living up to a high standard can be daunting. The Israelite priests 
experienced this as they tried to follow God's commands to be ceremonially 
clean (Leviticus 22:1-8) plus additional instructions regarding the sacrifices
(vv. 10-33). The priests' work was supposed to be holy-set apart-but despite 
their best efforts, they often fell short. That's why God ultimately placed 
the responsibility for their righteousness on His own shoulders: 
"I am the Lord, who makes [the priests] holy," He told Moses repeatedly 
(22:9, 16, 32).

Jesus is our perfect High Priest and He alone provided the pure, acceptable 
sacrifice for sin through His death on the cross. He prayed, "I give myself as
a holy sacrifice for [my disciples] so they can be made holy by your truth" 
(John 17:19 NLT). When it feels like our attempts at living right are just 
amateur pinch pots, we can rest in the perfect work Jesus has already 
completed and rely on the Holy Spirit's power to live for Him.

A new employee in an electronics plant had the responsibility
for overseeing one machine. The machine worked fine when the young man
came on duty, but soon it began to run a bit rough. The employee
tinkered with the machine, trying to "fix" it, until finally if stopped
working altogether
In fear and trembling the worker sent for the foreman, and stammered,
"I - I, well, sir, I did my best to fix it."
"Son", the foreman thundered, "you need to know only one thing. Around
here, doing you best means sending for me!"
Wisdom, James 1:5 says, has its source in God alone. And if we are
to attain wisdom, we need to learn doing our best means sending for God.
Often we spend time tinkering with our lives or the the lives of others.
We don't think to as God for his wisdom in the decisions we must take;
instead, we use our human reasoning and take our best guess.
But the path to wisdom does not lie in guesswork. The scriptures
give us clear indication of God's direction for his people, and through Bible
study, application, prayer, and meditation,
we can understand what God wants to reveal to us.
"If any of you lacks wisdom," James says, "he should ask God, who gives
generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."
The first step to attaining wisdom is recognising that we are not wise.
The second step is to ask. And God, who is faithful to his Word
and His people, will respond.

British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly.
Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver 
and surrounding areas.  There are also significant Muslim student populations
in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are
between 4000  and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all
other nationalities.

Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant 
and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,
Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this
region is about 200000.
Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,
more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small
numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc. 
We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
for which we also rejoice.  Let us agree in that

- the church will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
- the church will press in to participate in effective 
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid  celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that 
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you 
know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 :  17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; 
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants 
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. 
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: 
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.  20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims 
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days! 

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

the grip of fear. Releasing your prodigal child into Jesus's hands is an act of
trust. We must never forget that God is ALWAYS good and has promised to
pursue our wandering children (Matt 18:12). We can release our children
without fear by trusting in His absolute goodness and love.

Matthew 18

12 (Lk 15:4-7; Mt 21:28) "What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep
and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills
and go in search for the one which went astray?

[12] How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone
astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains,
and seeketh that which is gone astray?

Releasing your prodigal child to God prepares your heart to receive the
greatest gift-a deeper knowledge of our Saviour's unfailing love. Today, we
encourage you to place your lost or wandering loved one into God's hands. In
prayer, surrender your fears, anxieties, and need for control, remembering that
God's love for them is infinitely greater than yours. It's time to release the
burden of trying to manage their path. Even if the wait feels endless, trust in
His perfect timing.

It takes faith to wait on God and to trust that there is a plan.

REFLECTION:

Have I fully surrendered my loved ones to the Lord? Am I trusting God in the
waiting?

PRAYER:

I bring my broken heart to You and ask for healing. Heal my heart and renew
my strength. Help me believe You can save, heal, and deliver my son or
daughter. Forgive me for getting in the way of their healing and for trying to
control or fix them. I give them to You, trusting Your plan. In Jesus' name,
Amen.

Pray the church in BC will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
Pray the church in BC will press in to participate in effective 
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

Pray that God will enlighten those in medicine and health care
to acknowledge the sanctity of life and server with true
integrity and compassion  

Pray that the Church in Canada will remember the poor
and compassionately respond to their plight

Pray for Christians in Azerbaijan who share the gospel message despite the 
risk of legal trouble and potential fines.

Pray for the effective distributions of audio Bibles among those 
whose hearts are ready to receive the Gospel in Niger.
