EXODUS 1
Israel Oppressed

1 (Ge 46:8-26; 35:23-26) Now these are the names of the sons of Israel, 
which came into Egypt (each man and his household came with Jacob): 
2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah; 
3 Issachar, Zeb-ulun, and Benjamin; 
4 Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. 
5 (Ge 46:26-27; Dt 10:22) All the people who came from the seed of Jacob 
were seventy people, but Joseph was in Egypt already.
6 (Ge 50:26) Joseph died, as did all his brothers, and all that generation. 
7 (Ge 46:3; Dt 26:5) Nevertheless, the sons of Israel were fruitful, and 
increased abundantly, and multiplied, and became exceedingly mighty,
Or numerous; (also in v. 20.) so that the land was filled with them.
8 (Ac 7:18) Now there rose up a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 
9 (Ps 105:24-25) He said to his people, 
"Surely, the people of the sons of Israel are more numerous 
and powerful than we. 
10 (Ac 7:19; Ps 83:3-4) Come, let us deal wisely with them, 
lest they multiply, and it come to pass that when any war breaks out, 
they also join our enemies, and fight against us, and escape from the land."
(Populism)
11 (Ge 15:13; 47:11) Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them
with their labor. They built for Pharaoh storage cities: Pithom and Rameses. 
12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew
 so that as a result they abhorred the sons of Israel. 
13 The Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigor, 
14 (Ex 2:23; 6:9) and they made their lives bitter with hard service
- in mortar and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field, 
all their service in which they made them serve was with rigor.
15 The king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives,
 of which the name of one was Shiphrah, 
and the name of the other Puah, 
16 and he said, "When you perform the office of a midwife to the Hebrew
 women and see them on the stools, if it is a son, then you must kill him,
 but if it is a daughter, then she may live." 
17 (Ac 5:29; Pr 16:6; Da 3:16-18) However, the midwives feared God, 
and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but kept the male
 children alive. 18 The king of Egypt called for the midwives 
and said to them, "Why have you done this thing 
and preserved the male children's lives?"
19 The midwives said to Pharaoh, "Because the Hebrew women 
are not like the Egyptian women, for they are vigorous 
and give birth before the midwives come to them."
20 (Ex 1:12; Pr 11:18) Therefore God dealt well with the midwives, 
and the people multiplied and grew very mighty. 
21 (1Sa 2:35; 1Ki 11:38) So it happened that because the midwives feared God, 
He gave them families.
22 (Ac 7:19) Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, 
"You must cast every son that is born into the river, 
and you must preserve every daughter's life."

Exodus 1
[1] Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into

multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
[8] Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
[9] And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of
Israel are more and mightier than we:
[10] Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come
to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our 
enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
[11] Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their 
burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
[12] But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew.
And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
[13] And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
[14] And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick,
and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made 
them serve, was with rigour.
[15] And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name 
of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:
[16] And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, 
and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: 
but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.
[17] But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt 
commanded them, but saved the men children alive.
[18] And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them,
 Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?
[19] And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not
as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere 
the midwives come in unto them.
[20] Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: 
and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
[21] And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them
houses.
[22] And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye
shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.


EXODUS 2
The Birth of Moses
1 (Nu 26:59) Now a man of the house of Levi went 
and married a daughter of Levi. 
2 (Ac 7:20; Heb 11:23) And the woman conceived and bore a son, 
and when she saw him, that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months.
3 (Isa 18:2) When she could no longer hide him, she took for him a container 
made of bulrushes and daubed it with tar and with pitch. 
She then put the child in it and set it in the reeds by the river's bank. 
4 (Ex 15:20; Nu 26:59) Then his sister stood afar off so that 
she might know what would happen to him.
5 The daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river
while her maidens walked along by the river's side, 
and when she saw the container among the reeds, she sent her maid, 
and she retrieved it. 6 When she opened it, she saw the child. He was crying. 
She had compassion on him and said, "This is one of the Hebrews' children."
7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, "Shall I go and call for you
 a nursing woman of the Hebrew women so that she may nurse the child for you?"
8 And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Go." So the young girl went 
and called the child's mother. 9 Pharaoh's daughter said to her, 
"Take this child away, and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages."
 So the woman took the child and nursed him. 
10 (Heb 11:24) Now the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter,
and he became her son. And she called his name Moses and said, 
"Because I drew him out of the water."
11 (Heb 11:24-26; Ex 1:11) In those days, when Moses was grown, 
he went out to his brothers and looked on their burdens;
 and he saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his brothers.
12 He looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed 
the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. 13 When he went out the next day, 
two men of the Hebrews struggled with each other; and he said to him
 that did the wrong, "Why do you strike your companion?"
14 (Ge 19:9; Lk 12:14) He said, "Who made you a prince and a judge over us?
Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?" Moses feared and said, 
"Surely this thing is known."
Moses Flees to Midian
15 (Ac 7:29; Heb 11:27) Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay
Moses. But Moses fled from the presence of Pharaoh and settled in the land of
Midian, and he dwelled by a well. 
16 (Ge 24:11; Ex 3:1)Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters, 
and they came and drew water,
and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.
17 (Ge 29:10) Then shepherds came and drove them away, but Moses stood up 
and helped them, and watered their flock.
18 (Ex 3:1; 4:18) When they came to Reuel their father, 
he said, "Why is it you have come back so soon today?"
19 And they said, "An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds
 and also drew water for us and watered the flock."
20 (Ge 31:54; 43:25) He said to his daughters, "So where is he? 
Why is it that you have left the man? Call him so that he may eat bread."
21 Moses was content to dwell with the man, and he gave Zipporah, his daughter,
 to Moses. 22 (Ac 7:29; Heb 11:13-14) Then she gave birth to a son, 
and he called his name Gershom, for he said, "I have been a sojourner 
in a foreign land."
23 (Jas 5:4; Ac 7:30) In the passing of time the king of Egypt died. 
And the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried out,
 and their cry came up to God on account of the bondage. 
24 (Ex 6:5; Ps 105:42) God heard their groaning, and God remembered 
His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 25 (Ex 4:31; Lk 1:25) God looked 
on the children of Israel, and God had concern for them.

Exodus 2
[1] And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter
of Levi.
[2] And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he
was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
[3] And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of
bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child
therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.
[4] And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.
[5] And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and
her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among
the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
[6] And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe
wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews'
children.
[7] Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee
a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?
[8] And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the
child's mother.
[9] And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it
for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and

strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest
thou thy fellow?
[14] And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou
to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said,
Surely this thing is known.
[15] Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses
fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat
down by a well.

[24] And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with
Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
[25] And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto
them.

1 CHRONICLES 6

Sons of Levi
1 (Ge 46:11; Ex 6:16) The sons of Levi were
Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
2 (Ex 6:18) The sons of Kohath were
Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
3 (Lev 10:1; Ex 6:20) The children of Amram were
Aaron, Moses, and Miriam.


[1] The sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

EXODUS 3

Moses at the Burning Bush

1 (1Ki 19:8; Nu 10:29) Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father-in-law,
 the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert 
and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb. 
2 (Dt 33:16; Isa 63:9) The angel of the Lord appeared to him 
in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush, 
and he looked, and the bush burned with fire, but the bush was not consumed. 
3 (Ac 7:31) So Moses said, "I will now turn aside and see this great sight, 
why the bush is not burnt."
4 (Dt 33:16) When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, 
God called to him from out of the midst of the bush and said, "Moses, Moses."
And he said, "Here am I.'
5 (Jos 5:15; Ac 7:33) He said, "Do not approach here. Remove your sandals 
from off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground." 
6 (Ex 4:5; Mt 22:32) Moreover He said, "I am the God of your father, 
the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." 
And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.
7 (Ps 106:44; Ex 2:23-25) The Lord said, "I have surely seen the affliction
 of My people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry on account 
of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. 
8 (Ge 50:24; 15:18-21; Ex 13:5) Therefore, I have come down to deliver 
them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that 
land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey,
 to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, 
the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 
9 (Ex 2:23; 3:7) Now therefore, the cry of the children of Israel has come 
to Me. Moreover, 
I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them.
10 (Mic 6:4; Ps 105:26) Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh 
so that you may bring forth My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt."
11 (Ex 6:12; 1Sa 18:18) Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go
 to Pharaoh and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?"
12 (Jos 1:5; Ge 31:3) And He said, "Certainly I will be with you, and this will
 be a sign to you, that I have sent you: When you have brought forth the 
people out of Egypt, all of you shall serve God on this mountain."
13 (Ex 3:14; Pr 30:4) Moses said to God, "I am going 
to the children of Israel and will say to them, 
'The God of your fathers has sent me to you.' 
When they say to me, 'What is His name?' what shall I say to them?"
14 (Ex 6:3; Jn 8:58; Heb 13:8) And God said to Moses, "I am who I am," 
(The Heb. to be, related to the covenantal name of God translated Lord. )
and He said, "You will say this to the children of Israel, 
'I am has sent me to you.' "
15 (Ps 135:13; Hos 12:5) God, moreover, said to Moses, 
"Thus you will say to the children of Israel, 
'The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac,
 and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. 
This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.'
16 (Ex 4:29; 4:31) "Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, 
and say to them, 'The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, 
of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, "I am indeed concerned 
about you and what has been done to you in Egypt. 
17 (Ge 15:13-21; 46:4) Therefore, I said, I will bring you up 
out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, 
the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, to a land 
flowing with milk and honey." '
18 (Ex 7:16; 9:1) "They shall listen to your voice, and you shall come, 
you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and you must say to him,
'The Lord, the God of the Hebrews has met with us. Therefore, now, let us go,
 we ask you, three days' journey into the wilderness so that we may 
sacrifice to the Lord our God' 19 (Ex 5:2; 6:1) However, I know 
that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, 
not even under a forceful hand. 
20 (Ex 9:15; Dt 6:22) So I will stretch out My hand and strike Egypt 
with all My wonders which I will perform in its midst, and after that
 he will let you go.
21 (Ex 12:36; 11:3) "I will give this people favor in the sight 
of the Egyptians, and it will come to pass, that, when you go,
 you will not go empty-handed. 
22 (Eze 39:10; Ex 11:2) But every woman will borrow of her neighbor, 
and of her that sojourns in her house, articles of silver, 
and articles of gold, and clothing, 
and you will put them on your sons, and on your daughters - in this way 
you will plunder the Egyptians."

Exodus 3

[11] And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and
that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
[12] And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token
unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people
out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.
[13] And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of
Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto
you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
[14] And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou
say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
[15] And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children
of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of
Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for
ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
[16] Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The

done to you in Egypt:

[18] And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the
elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The
LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech
thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the
LORD our God.
[19] And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a
mighty hand.
[20] And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders
which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.
[21] And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and
it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:
[22] But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that
sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:
and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall
spoil the Egyptians. 

(The Lord remembers his promise,  Recall God said to Abraham that his people 
will stay 400 years in Egypt, Too bad this pharoah forget 
Joseph and how he made Egypt prosperous.  Note that Egypt was not
only allow the God of Abraham to be worshipped amongst the poeple)

Luke 18:9-17

Luke 18:9-14

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

9 (Lk 16:15; Isa 65:5) He told this parable to some who trusted
in themselves, as though they were righteous, and despised others:
10 (Ac 3:1) "Two men went up to the temple to pray,
the one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
11 (Mt 6:5; Mk 11:25) The Pharisee stood and prayed these things
about himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men:
extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
12 (Lk 11:42; Mt 9:14; Mal 3:8) I fast twice a week, and I tithe
of all that I earn.'
13 (Lk 23:48; Ezr 9:6) "But the tax collector, standing at a distance,
would not even lift his eyes to heaven, but struck his chest, saying,
'God, be merciful to me a sinner.'
14 (Lk 14:11; Mt 23:12) "I tell you, this man went down to his house
justified rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself
will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

[9] And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that
they were righteous, and despised others:

that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as

eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a
sinner.
[14] I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the
other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that
humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Luke 18:15-17

Little Children Blessed
Mt 19:13-15; Mk 10:13-16

15 (Mt 19:13-15; Mk 10:13-16) They also brought infants to Him
that He might touch them. When the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16 But Jesus called them to Him and said, "Permit the little children
to come to Me, and do not hinder them. For
to such belongs the kingdom of God.
17 (Mk 10:15) Truly, I say to you, whoever will not receive the kingdom
of God as a little child will in no wise enter it."

[15] And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but
when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
[16] But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to
come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
[17] Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God
as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

"If Jesus were physically seated at the table with us this morning, what would
you want to ask Him?" Joe inquired of his children at breakfast. His boys 
thought of their toughest questions. They decided they wanted to ask Jesus the
most difficult maths problems and have Him tell them how big the universe 
really is. Then his daughter replied, "I would ask Him for a hug."

Can't you picture the love in Jesus' eyes for these children? I think He would
be glad to comply with the requests, don't you? I imagine Him bantering with 
the boys and opening his arms to the little girl. He might especially like the
desire of Joe's daughter for a hug, which seems to demonstrate a heart of love
for Him and a desire for His love.

Children have a sense of their dependence, and they know that Jesus is strong 
and loving. He said, "Anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a 
little child will never enter it" (Luke 18:17). Christ longs for us to 
recognise our need for His grace, forgiveness and salvation. He enjoys 
humble hearts that long to be near Him.

Is there something you'd like to ask Jesus? We've certainly all had our 
questions! Or maybe you just want to be close to Him?

Week 8 Guided by Grace Day 5 - Waiting for the Wind

Is 40:31

31 (2Co 4:16; Ps 103:5; Ex 19:4)
but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary,
and they shall walk and not faint.

31 but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;

High above civilisation, alone on his craggy peak, the eagle waits.
He watches, senses, and then, with effortless grace, he spreads
his wings and soars. He does not flap frantically to gain altitude,
he merely turns his wings into the wind and rises.
Is 40:31 promises that we, too, can be like the eagle,
mounting up on wings, soaring effortlessly,
without weariness. But this is not often our experience.
We usually flap around like invalid pigeons, scratching
for mere existence, flying only when our place in the park is disturbed.
We need to learn to wait on the Lord. Like the wind that raises the eagle
to the heights, the wind of the Spirit will lift us up as well - beyond
the weariness of daily life, beyond the struggle for existence, beyond
the plodding pace of normal interaction.
But the eagle does not rise without plunging for the cliff into the wind.
His ability to stay aloft is based on his understand of wind currents;
when the wind is against him, he rises. He waits on the cliff
until the right moment, then allows the contrary breezes to lift him up.
Most of us are grounded by the winds that are against us. We give up
and never take the first flight. We fear the plunge from the cliff into the
buoyant breath of God, and so we stand fixed, afraid to launch out.
But when we do take the risk, when we wait upon the Lord, and then
give ourselves in obedience to a free-fall from the cliffs of his will,
we discover that there is rest in soaring with him. We do not have to
struggle; we have only to fly, and in flying, to find new strength.

Application

a) Why is "waiting upon the Lord" essential
to "Mounting up with wings as the eagle"?

2015 Population - 4631302 Muslims about 136493

British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly.
Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver 
and surrounding areas.  There are also significant Muslim student populations
in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are
between 4000  and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all
other nationalities.

Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant 
and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford,
Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this
region is about 200000.
Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis,
more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small
numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc. 
We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
for which we also rejoice.  Let us agree in that

- the church will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
- the church will press in to participate in effective 
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid  celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that 
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you 
know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 :  17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; 
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants 
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. 
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: 
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.  20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.
Matthew 5:14-15  : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under 
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the 
house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people - 
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims 
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days! 

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

8 ) Fast and Pray

DAY FOUR:

A PRAYER FOR THE PRODIGALS-OVERCOMING GUILT, SHAME, AND FEAR

For the prodigal, guilt, shame, and fear can feel overwhelming, clouding the
path back to God. When they stray, sin weighs heavily on their body and spirit,
leaving them restless and burdened by regret. Prodigals often feel consumed
by self-condemnation, believing they are too far gone for redemption. These
emotions can create a barrier, convincing them that no one-including God-
could ever understand their journey or pain.

Yet guilt-driven and shame-filled responses keep them trapped in a cycle that
distances them from God, elevating their sense of failure over His promise of
grace. They may harden their hearts, lose sight of God's truth, and fall deeper
into despair and isolation.

Though guilt, shame, and fear may keep them distant for now, we know that
God is actively working on their hearts.

REFLECTION:

Do I really believe that no one is ever too lost for God's forgiveness?

PRAYER:

Lord, I ask that You break the chains of shame holding my friend or loved
one. Set them free by reminding them that they are made in Your image,
and their worth is defined by who You say they are. Remind them they are
Your beloved child-chosen, loved, pursued, and redeemed by You. Where
they have faced rejection and believed lies about their value, expose those
falsehoods and heal their wounded hearts. Free them from rejection, and fill
them with the truth of Your love. Help them fully accept Your love and mine
for them, restore all that has been lost to the lies of the enemy, and renew
their spirits with Your grace. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen.

Pray to the Lord and pray to know His compassion.

Pray the church in BC will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
Pray the church in BC will press in to participate in effective 
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

Pray for God's will to be done where you live and throughout
society, as it is in Heaven

Pray that local officials and police in Kenya will protect Christians 
and their church buildings.

Pray for Bible distributors and recipients in Algeria, as governing officials
seek to confiscate copies of God's Word.

one. Set them free by reminding them that they are made in Your image,
and their worth is defined by who You say they are. Remind them they are
Your beloved child-chosen, loved, pursued, and redeemed by You. Where
they have faced rejection and believed lies about their value, expose those
falsehoods and heal their wounded hearts. Free them from rejection, and fill
them with the truth of Your love. Help them fully accept Your love and mine
for them, restore all that has been lost to the lies of the enemy, and renew
