EXODUS 25
Offerings for the Tabernacle

Ex 35:4-9

1 The Lord said to Moses: 
2 (Ezr 2:68; 2Co 9:7) Tell the children of Israel to bring Me an offering. 
From every man who gives willingly with his heart you shall receive 
My offering. 
3 This is the offering which you shall take from them:
 gold, silver, and bronze, 
4 blue, purple, scarlet, fine linen, goats' hair, 
5 rams' skins dyed red, porpoise skins, acacia wood, 
6 (Ex 27:20) oil for the light, spices for anointing oil
 and for fragrant incense, 
7 (Ex 28:4) onyx stones, and stones to be set 
in the ephod and in the breastplate.
8 (Ex 29:45; 1Ki 6:13)Let them make Me 
a sanctuary that I may dwell among them. 
9 (Ex 25:40; Heb 8:5) According to all that I show you
-the pattern of the tabernacle 
and the pattern of all its furniture
-you shall make it just so.

[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[2] Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of 
every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.
[3] And this is the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, and silver, 
and brass,
[4] And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair,
[5] And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood,
[6] Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,
[7] Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate.
[8] And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
[9] According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, 
and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

The Ark of the Covenant

Ex 37:1-9 (God's microphone)

10 (Heb 9:4; Ex 37:1-3) They shall make an ark of acacia wood
 two and a half cubits long, and one and a half cubits wide, 
and one and a half cubits high(.About 3 feet long, 
11/2 feet wide, and 21/4 feet high, 
or 90 centimeters long, 45 centimeters wide, and 68 centimeters high. )
11 (Ex 25:24; 30:3) You shall overlay it with pure gold, 
inside and out shall you overlay it, 
and you shall make a gold border around it. 
12 You shall cast four gold rings for it and put them 
on the four feet with two rings on the one side of it 
and two rings on the other side of it.
13 You shall make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. 
14 You shall put the poles into the rings on 
the sides of the ark in order to carry the ark with them. 
15 (1Ki 8:8) The poles must remain in the rings of the ark.
 They must not be removed from it. 
16 (Dt 31:26; 1Ki 8:9) You shall put into the ark the testimony
 which I shall give you.
17 (Ex 37:6; Ro 3:25) You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold, 
two and a half cubits long and one and a half cubits wide. 
18 You shall make two cherubim of gold, 
make them of hammered work at the two ends of the mercy seat. 
19 Make one cherub on the one end and the other cherub on the other end. 
From the mercy seat you shall make the cherubim on its two ends.
20 (1Ki 8:7; 1Ch 28:18) The cherubim shall stretch forth their wings upward, 
covering the mercy seat with their wings and facing one another. 
The faces of the cherubim are to face toward the mercy seat. 
21 (Ex 26:34) You shall put the mercy seat above upon the ark, 
and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I will give you. 
22 (Ex 29:42-43; Nu 7:89) I will meet with you there, 
and I will meet with you from above the mercy seat,
 from between the two cherubim which are 
upon the ark of the testimony. 
I will speak with you all that I will command you
 for the children of Israel.
 
[10] And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall
be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit
and a half the height thereof.
[11] And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou
overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about.
[12] And thou shalt cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in the four
corners thereof; and two rings shall be in the one side of it, and two rings
in the other side of it.
[13] And thou shalt make staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold.
[14] And thou shalt put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark,
that the ark may be borne with them.
[15] The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not be taken
from it.
[16] And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.
[17] And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half
shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.
[18] And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou
make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.
[19] And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other
end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends
thereof.
[20] And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the
mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another;
toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.
[21] And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark
thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.
[22] And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from
above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark
of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto
the children of Israel.

The Table for the Showbread

Ex 37:10-16

23 (Ex 37:10-16; Heb 9:2) You shall also make a table of acacia wood,
two cubits long, one cubit wide, and a half cubit high.
(About 6 1/4 pounds, or 2.9 kilograms. )
24 (Ex 25:11) You shall overlay it with pure gold 
and make a gold border around it. 
25 You shall make a border around it of a handbreadth, 
and you shall make a gold molding for the frame all around. 
26 You shall make four gold rings for it 
and put the rings on the four corners that are on its four feet. 
27 The rings shall be close to the frame to provide places 
for the poles to carry the table. 
28 You shall make the poles of acacia wood 
and overlay them with gold, so that the table may be carried with them. 
29 (Nu 4:7; Ex 37:16) You shall make the dishes, its spoons, its pitchers,
and its bowls with which to pour drink offerings. 
You shall make them of pure gold. 
30 (Ex 39:36) You shall set the showbread on the table before Me always.

[23] Thou shalt also make a table of shittim wood: two cubits shall be the
length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the
height thereof.
[24] And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of
gold round about.
[25] And thou shalt make unto it a border of an hand breadth round about,
and thou shalt make a golden crown to the border thereof round about.
[26] And thou shalt make for it four rings of gold, and put the rings in the
four corners that are on the four feet thereof.
[27] Over against the border shall the rings be for places of the staves to
bear the table.
[28] And thou shalt make the staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with
gold, that the table may be borne with them.
[29] And thou shalt make the dishes thereof, and spoons thereof, and covers
thereof, and bowls thereof, to cover withal: of pure gold shalt thou make
them.
[30] And thou shalt set upon the table shewbread before me alway.

The Gold Lampstand

Ex 37:17-24

31 (1Ki 7:49; Zec 4:2) You shall make a lampstand of pure gold. 
The lampstand and its base and its shaft are to be made of 
hammered metal. Its cups, its buds, and its flowers shall be of one piece.
32 Six branches shall go out from its sides,
 three branches of the lampstand from its one side 
and three branches of the lampstand from its other side. 
33 3 cups shall be made shaped like almond flowers with buds 
and blossoms on one branch, and three cups made like almond flowers 
in the other branch, with buds and blossoms, 
and the same for the six branches that come out of the lampstand. 
34 On the lampstand shall be four cups shaped like almond flowers, 
with their buds and their blossoms. 
35 There shall be a bud under two branches of the same, 
and a budunder two branches of the same,
and a bud under the next two branches of the same, 
according to the six branches that proceed out of the lampstand. 
36 Their buds and their branches shall be of the same piece, 
all of it shall be one hammered work of pure gold.
37 (Nu 8:2; Ex 27:21; Lev 24:2-4) You shall make its seven lamps, 
and they shall light its lamps so 
that they may give light to the area in front of it. 
38 Its snuffers and their snuff dishes shall be of pure gold.
39 It shall be made from a talent (About 75 pounds, or 34 kilograms.)
 of pure gold along with all these utensils. 
40 (Ex 26:30; Nu 8:4) See that you make them according 
to their pattern which was shown to you on the mountain.

[31] And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall
the candlestick be made: his shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops,
and his flowers, shall be of the same.
[32] And six branches shall come out of the sides of it; three branches of
the candlestick out of the one side, and three branches of the candlestick
out of the other side:
[33] Three bowls made like unto almonds, with a knop and a flower in one
branch; and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a knop
and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the candlestick.
[34] And in the candlestick shall be four bowls made like unto almonds, with
their knops and their flowers.
[35] And there shall be a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop
under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same,
according to the six branches that proceed out of the candlestick.
[36] Their knops and their branches shall be of the same: all it shall be
one beaten work of pure gold.
[37] And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof: and they shall light the
lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it.
[38] And the tongs thereof, and the snuffdishes thereof, shall be of pure
gold.
[39] Of a talent of pure gold shall he make it, with all these vessels.
[40] And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee
in the mount.

EXODUS 26

The Tabernacle

Ex 36:8-38

1 (Ex 26:36; 36:8-19) Moreover you shall make the tabernacle 
with ten curtains of fine twisted linen, and blue, and purple, 
and scarlet. Make them with cherubim, the work of a skilled workman. 
2 The length of each curtain shall be twenty-eight cubits, 
and the width of each curtain four cubits.
(About 42 feet long and 6 feet wide, or 13 meters long and 1.8 meters wide. )
All of the curtains shall have the same measurements. 
3 Five curtains shall be joined together, one to another. 
And the other five curtains are to be joined, one to another. 
4 You shall make loops of blue on the edge of the end curtain in one set, 
and likewise you shall make loops in the outermost 
edge of the end curtain in the second set. 
5 You shall make fifty loops in the one curtain, 
and you shall make fifty loops in the edge 
of the curtain that is in the second set. 
The loops are to be opposite to one another. 
6 You shall make fifty clasps of gold and join 
the curtains together with the clasps 
so that the tabernacle shall be one unit.
7 You shall make curtains of goats' hair to be a covering upon the tabernacle. 
You shall make eleven curtains. 
8 The length of each curtain shall be thirty cubits, 
and the width of each curtain four cubits, 
(About 45 feet long and 6 feet wide, or 13.5 meters long and 1.8 meters wide.)
 and the eleven curtains shall all have the same measure. 
9 You shall join five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves. 
You shall double over the sixth curtain at the front of the tabernacle.
10 You shall make fifty loops on the edge of the end curtain in one set 
and fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that joins the second set. 
11 You shall make fifty bronze clasps, and put the clasps into the loops, 
and join the tent together so that it may be one unit. 
12 The part that remains of the curtains of the tent, 
the half curtain that remains, shall hang over the back of the tabernacle. 
13 A cubit (About 1/5 ounce, or 5.8 grams; and in v. 15.)
 on the one side and a cubit on the other side of that which remains 
in the length of the curtains of the tent shall hang over the sides 
of the tabernacle on this side and on that side to cover it. 
14 (Ex 36:19; 25:5) You shall make a covering for the tent out of 
rams' skins dyed red and a covering above of porpoise skins.
15 (Ex 36:20-33) You shall make boards for the tabernacle
 of acacia wood, standing upright. 
16 Ten cubits (About 15 feet long and 21/4 feet wide, 
or 4.5 meters long and 68 centimeters wide.) 
shall be the length of each board, 
and a cubit and a half shall be the width of each board. 
17 There shall be two tenons for each board, fitted to one another. 
You shall make all the boards of the tabernacle in this way. 
18 You shall make the boards for the tabernacle,
 twenty boards for the south side. 
19 (Ex 38:27) You shall make forty sockets of silver 
under the twenty boards, two sockets under one board 
for its two tenons and two sockets under another board for its two tenons. 
20 For the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, 
there shall be twenty boards, 
21 and their forty sockets of silver, two sockets under one board, 
and two sockets under another board. 
22 For the back of the tabernacle, to the west, you shall make six boards. 
23 You shall make two boards for the corners of the tabernacle at the back. 
24 They shall be doubled together beneath 
and finished together at the top of it into one ring. 
So it shall be for both of them. 
They shall form the two corners. 
25 There shall be eight boards with their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets,
 two sockets under one board and two sockets under another board.
26 You shall make bars of acacia wood, 
five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle, 
27 and five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, 
and five bars for the boards of the side of the tabernacle 
for the back to the west. 
28 The middle bar in the center of the boards shall reach from end to end. 
29 You shall overlay the boards with gold and make their rings of gold
 to provide places for the bars, and you shall overlay the bars with gold.
30 (Ex 25:40; 25:9) You shall set up the tabernacle according to the plan 
which you have been shown on the mountain.
31 (Ex 36:35; 2Ch 3:14) You shall make a veil of blue, and purple, 
and scarlet, and fine twined linen. It shall be made with cherubim, 
the skillful work of a workman. 
32 You shall hang it on four pillars of acacia wood overlaid with gold. 
Their hooks also shall be of gold on four sockets of silver. 
33 (Ex 40:21; 25:16) You shall hang up the veil under the clasps,
 so that you may bring in the ark of the testimony within the veil; 
and the veil shall serve for you as a partition between 
the holy place and the Most Holy. 
34 (Ex 25:21; 40:20) You shall put the mercy seat 
on the ark of the testimony in the Most Holy. 
35 (Ex 40:22; 40:24) You shall set the table outside the veil, 
and the lampstand opposite the table on the side of the tabernacle 
toward the south, and you shall put the table on the north side.
36 (Ex 36:37) You shall make a screen for the doorway of the tent 
of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, 
the work of an embroiderer. 
37 (Ex 36:38) You shall make five pillars of acacia wood for the screen 
and overlay them with gold, with their hooks also made of gold, 
and you shall cast five sockets of bronze for them.

Exodus 26
[1] Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined
linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work
shalt thou make them.
[2] The length of one curtain shall be eight and twenty cubits, and the
breadth of one curtain four cubits: and every one of the curtains shall have
one measure.
[3] The five curtains shall be coupled together one to another; and other
five curtains shall be coupled one to another.
[4] And thou shalt make loops of blue upon the edge of the one curtain from
the selvedge in the coupling; and likewise shalt thou make in the uttermost
edge of another curtain, in the coupling of the second.
[5] Fifty loops shalt thou make in the one curtain, and fifty loops shalt
thou make in the edge of the curtain that is in the coupling of the second;
that the loops may take hold one of another.
[6] And thou shalt make fifty taches of gold, and couple the curtains
together with the taches: and it shall be one tabernacle.
[7] And thou shalt make curtains of goats' hair to be a covering upon the
tabernacle: eleven curtains shalt thou make.
[8] The length of one curtain shall be thirty cubits, and the breadth of one
curtain four cubits: and the eleven curtains shall be all of one measure.
[9] And thou shalt couple five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by
themselves, and shalt double the sixth curtain in the forefront of the
tabernacle.
[10] And thou shalt make fifty loops on the edge of the one curtain that is
outmost in the coupling, and fifty loops in the edge of the curtain which
coupleth the second.
[11] And thou shalt make fifty taches of brass, and put the taches into the
loops, and couple the tent together, that it may be one.
[12] And the remnant that remaineth of the curtains of the tent, the half
curtain that remaineth, shall hang over the backside of the tabernacle.
[13] And a cubit on the one side, and a cubit on the other side of that
which remaineth in the length of the curtains of the tent, it shall hang
over the sides of the tabernacle on this side and on that side, to cover it.
[14] And thou shalt make a covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red,
and a covering above of badgers' skins.
[15] And thou shalt make boards for the tabernacle of shittim wood standing
up.
[16] Ten cubits shall be the length of a board, and a cubit and a half shall
be the breadth of one board.
[17] Two tenons shall there be in one board, set in order one against
another: thus shalt thou make for all the boards of the tabernacle.
[18] And thou shalt make the boards for the tabernacle, twenty boards on the
south side southward.
[19] And thou shalt make forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards;
two sockets under one board for his two tenons, and two sockets under
another board for his two tenons.
[20] And for the second side of the tabernacle on the north side there shall
be twenty boards:
[21] And their forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one board, and two
sockets under another board.
[22] And for the sides of the tabernacle westward thou shalt make six
boards.
[23] And two boards shalt thou make for the corners of the tabernacle in the
two sides.
[24] And they shall be coupled together beneath, and they shall be coupled
together above the head of it unto one ring: thus shall it be for them both;
they shall be for the two corners.
[25] And they shall be eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen
sockets; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.
[26] And thou shalt make bars of shittim wood; five for the boards of the
one side of the tabernacle,
[27] And five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and
five bars for the boards of the side of the tabernacle, for the two sides
westward.
[28] And the middle bar in the midst of the boards shall reach from end to
end.
[29] And thou shalt overlay the boards with gold, and make their rings of
gold for places for the bars: and thou shalt overlay the bars with gold.
[30] And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof
which was shewed thee in the mount.
[31] And thou shalt make a vail of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine
twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made:
[32] And thou shalt hang it upon four pillars of shittim wood overlaid with
gold: their hooks shall be of gold, upon the four sockets of silver.
[33] And thou shalt hang up the vail under the taches, that thou mayest
bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony: and the vail
shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy.
[34] And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the testimony in the
most holy place.
[35] And thou shalt set the table without the vail, and the candlestick over
against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou
shalt put the table on the north side.
[36] And thou shalt make an hanging for the door of the tent, of blue, and
purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needlework.
[37] And thou shalt make for the hanging five pillars of shittim wood, and
overlay them with gold, and their hooks shall be of gold: and thou shalt
cast five sockets of brass for them. 

EXODUS 27

The Altar of Burnt Offering

Ex 38:1-7

1 (Ex 38:1-7) You shall make an altar of acacia wood, 
five cubits long and five cubits wide. 
(About 71/2 feet, or 2.3 meters long and wide.) 
The altar shall be square, and its height shall be three cubits.
(About 4 1/2 feet, or 1.4 meters. )
2 (Ps 118:27; Ex 29:12) You shall make its horns on its four corners. 
Its horns shall be part of it, and you shall overlay it with bronze. 
3 (1Ki 7:45) You shall make its pots for its ashes, and its shovels, 
and its basins, and its meat hooks, and its fire pans. 
You shall make all of its vessels out of bronze. 
4 You shall make a grating for it, a network of bronze, 
and on the net you shall make four bronze rings at its four corners. 
5 You shall put it under the ledge of the altar beneath, 
so that the net will reach halfway up the altar. 
6 You shall make poles for the altar, 
poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with bronze. 
7 The poles shall be put into the rings,
 so that the poles shall be on the two sides
 of the altar when carrying it. 
8 (Ex 25:40; 25:9) You shall make it hollow with boards.
 Just as it was shown you on the mountain, so shall they make it.
 
[1] And thou shalt make an altar of shittim wood, five cubits long, and five
cubits broad; the altar shall be foursquare: and the height thereof shall be
three cubits.
[2] And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof: his
horns shall be of the same: and thou shalt overlay it with brass.
[3] And thou shalt make his pans to receive his ashes, and his shovels, and
his basons, and his fleshhooks, and his firepans: all the vessels thereof
thou shalt make of brass.
[4] And thou shalt make for it a grate of network of brass; and upon the net
shalt thou make four brasen rings in the four corners thereof.
[5] And thou shalt put it under the compass of the altar beneath, that the
net may be even to the midst of the altar.
[6] And thou shalt make staves for the altar, staves of shittim wood, and
overlay them with brass.
[7] And the staves shall be put into the rings, and the staves shall be upon
the two sides of the altar, to bear it.
[8] Hollow with boards shalt thou make it: as it was shewed thee in the
mount, so shall they make it.

The Court of the Tabernacle

Ex 38:9-20

9 (Ex 38:9-20) You shall make the court of the tabernacle. 
On the south side there shall be curtains for the court of
 fine twined linen one hundred cubits long 
(About 150 feet, or 45 meters; and in v. 11.) for one side; 
10 and it shall have twenty pillars with twenty bronze sockets. 
The hooks of the pillars and their bands shall be of silver. 
11 Likewise for the north side in length there shall be curtains 
one hundred cubits long, and its twenty pillars 
and their twenty sockets of bronze. 
The hooks of the pillars and their bands shall be of silver.
12 For the width of the court on the west side shall be 
curtains of fifty cubits (About 75 feet, or 23 meters; and in v. 13. )
 with their ten pillars and their ten sockets. 
13 The width of the court on the east side shall be fifty cubits. 
14 The curtains on one side of the gate shall be fifteen cubits
 (About 23 feet, or 6.8 meters; and in v. 15. )
with their three pillars and their three sockets. 
15 On the other side shall be curtains fifteen cubits 
with their three pillars and their three sockets.
16 (Ex 26:36) For the gate of the court there shall be
 a curtain of twenty cubits, 
(About 30 feet, or 9 meters. )
of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen,
 the work of an embroiderer, 
with their four pillars and their four sockets. 
17 All the pillars around about the court shall be furnished
 with silver bands. Their hooks shall be of silver, 
and their sockets of bronze. 
18 The length of the court shall be one hundred cubits,
 and the width fifty (About 150 feet long and 75 feet wide, 
or 45 meters long and 23 meters wide.) 
throughout, and the height five cubits 
(About 71/2 feet, or 2.3 meters. ) 
of fine twisted linen, and their sockets of bronze. 
19 All the utensils of the tabernacle used in all its service,
 and all its tent pegs, and all the tent pegs
 of the court shall be of bronze.
 
[9] And thou shalt make the court of the tabernacle: for the south side
southward there shall be hangings for the court of fine twined linen of an
hundred cubits long for one side:
[10] And the twenty pillars thereof and their twenty sockets shall be of
brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets shall be of silver.
[11] And likewise for the north side in length there shall be hangings of an
hundred cubits long, and his twenty pillars and their twenty sockets of
brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver.
[12] And for the breadth of the court on the west side shall be hangings of
fifty cubits: their pillars ten, and their sockets ten.
[13] And the breadth of the court on the east side eastward shall be fifty
cubits.
[14] The hangings of one side of the gate shall be fifteen cubits: their
pillars three, and their sockets three.
[15] And on the other side shall be hangings fifteen cubits: their pillars
three, and their sockets three.
[16] And for the gate of the court shall be an hanging of twenty cubits, of
blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with
needlework: and their pillars shall be four, and their sockets four.
[17] All the pillars round about the court shall be filleted with silver;
their hooks shall be of silver, and their sockets of brass.
[18] The length of the court shall be an hundred cubits, and the breadth
fifty every where, and the height five cubits of fine twined linen, and
their sockets of brass.
[19] All the vessels of the tabernacle in all the service thereof, and all
the pins thereof, and all the pins of the court, shall be of brass.

The Oil for the Lamp

Lev 24:1-3

20 You shall command the children of Israel that they bring 
you pure oil of olive pressed for the light, 
to cause the lamp to burn continually. 
21 (Nu 18:23; 19:21) In the tent of meeting, 
outside the veil which is before the testimony, 
Aaron and his sons shall arrange it from evening 
to morning before the Lord. It shall be a perpetual 
statute for the children of Israel for generations to come.

weeds were wrapped around my head.

From the bottom of the ocean, Harrison cried to God to save him. A freak wave 
had overturned his tugboat off the coast of Nigeria, and it sank rapidly. The 
rest of the crew, unable to escape, drowned, but Harrison had found an air 
pocket in a bathroom. A man of faith, he meditated on Psalms, thought of his 
family and prayed for his life. After three dark days, a rescue diver got a 
massive shock when his torchlight found a moving hand instead of a corpse. 
God had answered Harrison's prayer.

Harrison’s experience was eerily similar to Jonah's, as was the desperate 
prayer for rescue when he was about to drown. Jonah went down through the 
ocean, "into the deep, in the midst of the seas" (Jonah 2:3). He cried to 
God: "In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me" (v. 2). 
For three days, Jonah's 'air pocket' was a big fish, and so he too 
was spared death.

There is mystery in suffering, and we don't know why Harrison was 
freed but the rest of the crew drowned. What we do know is that God hears 
our desperate pleas and loves us. Even death is not the end. Jesus went to 
the very depths of death for three days to bring us resurrection life.
Today if you feel like you're drowning, call out to our merciful God.

Week 1 Knowing God's Word Day 6 - Shielded by the Word

Proverbs 30:5

5 (Ps 12:6; 18:30) Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.

He is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

A wife of ten years, betrayed by her husband's infidelity, declares that
she will never trust a man again. A teenage son says of his father, "I
can't depend on him anymore! Dad always talk big and makes promises,
but he never does what he says." A career woman, her reputation
undermined by gossip, leaves the church broken, and never returns.
Human beings are weak, volatile, unfaithful creatures; often we
break our word and hurt others in the process. But the Scripture
clearly assures us that God's Word is not like the word of man.
God always remains faithful to his Word, always fulfills his promises,
always does what he says he will do.
God's word is pure (or flawless), Proverbs 30:5 says. His Word
is not distorted with mixed motives or flawed by untruth. God's Word
is dependable, able to support and lift us up, able to speak
encouragement to us. His Word is a "shield" a protection for us
against the onslaughts of the Enemy, a place of refuge from the struggle
and confusion of daily life.
We live in a world that recognises no absolute truth. Morality,
values, relationships, ethics - every decision of life, it seems,
"depends on the situation." But in the midst of the confusion,
God interjects his Word - timeless, pure, trustworthy, reliable.
We can depend upon God's Word. We can turn to him to verify who we are
and the purposes for which we were created. We can find refuge in his truth,
and rest in the knowledge that whatever he says, he will do.

Application

and dependability of God's Word?

It is estimated that Calgary has 82000 Muslims and Edmonton another 50000 .
Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.
Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor.  It's
become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.
Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group
coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries 
such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.
Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,
emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still 
continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our
Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom
they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.

Please join us in praying for:
- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.
- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to
Muslim-background believers.
- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially
  in their faith and the Church.
- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their 
not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.
- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach.
- for current and new workers among Muslims in these growing Muslim
  in these growing Muslim population centres.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid  celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that 
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you 
know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 :  17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; 
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants 
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. 
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: 
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.  20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims 
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days! 

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

DAY TWELVE:

DON'T FIGHT ALONE

When praying for the prodigals and unbelievers in our lives, it's easy to feel
as though the burden of their salvation rests entirely on our shoulders. Yet 
God didn't design us to face these battles in isolation. Scripture reminds us 
that there is strength in numbers and that powerful things happen when 
believers unite in prayer.

In Matthew 18:20, Jesus offers this encouraging promise: "[20] For where two 
or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
We are not alone in our fight for the hearts of those we love. When we pray 
with fellow believers, we experience God's presence in ways that strengthen 
our hope and faith.

Don't carry the weight of your prodigal or unbelieving loved ones alone. 
Invite God's family to surround you, lifting them up in unified prayer. 
The battle is the Lord's, but the victory is even sweeter when we stand 
together.

REFLECTION:

Am I inviting others to pray for my prodigal or unbelieving loved ones? 
Am Ipraying with the church and my community?

PRAYER:

Lord, thank You for the gift of community and the power of prayer. Help me
not to bear the burden of my prodigals alone but to invite others to pray
with me. Strengthen us as we unite in prayer for those who need to come to
You. May our prayers be a force of love and truth, calling them back to Your
heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray for the survivors of the September 2013 church bombing in Pakistan that 
killed 81 people and ijured many more.

Pray for Generosa, a Christian widow in Tanzania who sometimes must face 
the men believed to ber her husband's killers.

Pray for Yemeni Christians who are experiencing food shortages and economic
hardships amid political unrest.

Lord, thank You for the gift of community and the power of prayer. Help me
not to bear the burden of my prodigals alone but to invite others to pray
with me. Strengthen us as we unite in prayer for those who need to come to
You. May our prayers be a force of love and truth, calling them back to Your
heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
