EXODUS 36

1 (Ex 28:3; 25:8) So Bezalel and Oholiab, and every skilled person,
 in whom the Lord has put skill and understanding to know how to do 
all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, are to do the work
 according to all that the Lord has commanded.
2 (Ex 31:6; 1Ch 29:5 ) Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled
 person in whom the Lord had put wisdom, everyone whose heart stirred him
 to come to the work to do it. 
3 (Ex 35:29) They received from Moses all the offerings which the children
 of Israel had brought to do the work of the service of the sanctuary,
 and they continued to bring to him freewill offerings every morning.
4 And all the skilled men who were doing all the work of the sanctuary
 came from the work they were doing, 
5 (2Ch 24:14; 2Co 8:2-3) and they said to Moses, 
"The people are bringing much more than is needed 
for the service of the work which the Lord commanded us to do."
6 So Moses issued a command, and they circulated a proclamation
 throughout the camp, saying, "Let no man or woman do any more work
 for the offering of the sanctuary.- So the people were restrained
 from bringing any more. 
7 For the material they had was sufficient for all the work
 and more than enough to do it.
 
[1] Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom
the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work
for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had
commanded.
[2] And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in
whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him
up to come unto the work to do it:
[3] And they received of Moses all the offering, which the children of
Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, to make it
withal. And they brought yet unto him free offerings every morning.
[4] And all the wise men, that wrought all the work of the sanctuary, came
every man from his work which they made;
[5] And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than
enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make.
[6] And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed
throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work
for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from
bringing.
[7] For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and
too much.

Construction of the Tabernacle

Ex 26:1-37

8 Every skilled man among those who were doing the work made 
the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twisted linen,
 and blue, and purple, and scarlet,
 with cherubim that were the work of skillful workmen. 
9 The length of each curtain was twenty-eight cubits,
 and the width of each curtain four cubits.
(About 9 inches, or 23 centimeters.)
 All of the curtains were the same size. 
10 He joined the five curtains to one another, 
and the other five curtains he joined to one to another. 
11 He made loops of blue on the edge of the outermost 
curtain in the first set. He did likewise along the edge
 of the outermost curtain in the second set. 
12 (Ex 26:5) He made fifty loops in the one curtain 
and made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain 
which was in the second set. The loops were opposite one another.
13 He made fifty gold clasps and joined the curtains 
to one another with the clasps, so that the tabernacle was a unit.
14 (Ex 26:7-13) He made curtains of goats' hair for a tent 
over the tabernacle. He made eleven curtains in all. 
15 The length of each curtain was thirty cubits, 
and the width of each curtain was four cubits.
(About 45 feet long and 6 feet wide, or 14 meters long and 1.8 meters wide.)
The eleven curtains were all the same size. 
16 He joined five curtains by themselves and six curtains by themselves. 
17 He made fifty loops on the outermost edge of the curtain in the first 
set, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain which joined 
the second set. 
18 He made fifty bronze clasps to join the tent together, 
so that it would be one unit. 
19 He made a covering for the tent out of rams' skins
 dyed red and a covering of porpoise skins above.
20 (Ex 25:5) Then he made boards for the tabernacle out of acacia wood,
 standing upright. 
21 The length of each board was ten cubits, and the width of each board
 was one and a half cubits.
(About 15 feet long and 2 1/4 feet wide, or 4.5 meters long 
and 68 centimeters wide.)
22 Each board had two tenons, equally distant from each other.
 He did this for all the boards of the tabernacle. 
23 He made boards for the tabernacle: twenty boards for the south side.
24 He made forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards;
 two sockets under one board for its two tenons 
and two sockets under another board for its two tenons. 
25 For the other side of the tabernacle, 
which is toward the north corner, 
he made twenty boards, 
26 and their forty sockets of silver: two sockets under one board,
 and two sockets under another board. 
27 For the back of the tabernacle westward he made six boards. 
28 He made two boards for the corners of the tabernacle at the back. 
29 They were doubled beneath and joined together at the top in one ring.
 He did this with both of them in both the corners. 
30 There were eight boards with their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets, 
two under every board.
31 (Ex 26:26-29) He made bars of acacia wood, 
five for the boards of one side of the tabernacle, 
32 and five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle,
 and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the back to the west.
33 He made the middle bar to pass through 
the boards from the one end to the other. 
34 He overlaid the boards with gold, 
and made their rings of gold to be places for the bars, 
and overlaid the bars with gold.
35 (Mt 27:51) He made a veil of blue, and purple,
 and scarlet, and fine twined linen. He made cherubim, 
the work of a skillful designer. 
36 He made four pillars of acacia wood and overlaid them
 with gold with their hooks of gold, 
and he cast four sockets of silver for them. 
37 He made a hanging for the tabernacle 
entrance of blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen,
 the work of an embroiderer. 
38 And he made its five pillars with their hooks, 
and he overlaid their tops and their bands with gold,
 but their five sockets were of bronze.

[8] And every wise hearted man among them that wrought the work of the
tabernacle made ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and
scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work made he them.
[9] The length of one curtain was twenty and eight cubits, and the breadth
of one curtain four cubits: the curtains were all of one size.
[10] And he coupled the five curtains one unto another: and the other five
curtains he coupled one unto another.
[11] And he made loops of blue on the edge of one curtain from the selvedge
in the coupling: likewise he made in the uttermost side of another curtain,
in the coupling of the second.
[12] Fifty loops made he in one curtain, and fifty loops made he in the edge
of the curtain which was in the coupling of the second: the loops held one
curtain to another.
[13] And he made fifty taches of gold, and coupled the curtains one unto
another with the taches: so it became one tabernacle.
[14] And he made curtains of goats' hair for the tent over the tabernacle:
eleven curtains he made them.
[15] The length of one curtain was thirty cubits, and four cubits was the
breadth of one curtain: the eleven curtains were of one size.
[16] And he coupled five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by
themselves.
[17] And he made fifty loops upon the uttermost edge of the curtain in the
coupling, and fifty loops made he upon the edge of the curtain which
coupleth the second.
[18] And he made fifty taches of brass to couple the tent together, that it
might be one.
[19] And he made a covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red, and a
covering of badgers' skins above that.
[20] And he made boards for the tabernacle of shittim wood, standing up.
[21] The length of a board was ten cubits, and the breadth of a board one
cubit and a half.
[22] One board had two tenons, equally distant one from another: thus did he
make for all the boards of the tabernacle.
[23] And he made boards for the tabernacle; twenty boards for the south side
southward:
[24] And forty sockets of silver he made under the twenty boards; two
sockets under one board for his two tenons, and two sockets under another
board for his two tenons.
[25] And for the other side of the tabernacle, which is toward the north
corner, he made twenty boards,
[26] And their forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one board, and two
sockets under another board.
[27] And for the sides of the tabernacle westward he made six boards.
[28] And two boards made he for the corners of the tabernacle in the two
sides.
[29] And they were coupled beneath, and coupled together at the head
thereof, to one ring: thus he did to both of them in both the corners.
[30] And there were eight boards; and their sockets were sixteen sockets of
silver, under every board two sockets.
[31] And he made bars of shittim wood; five for the boards of the one side
of the tabernacle,
[32] And five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and
five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the sides westward.
[33] And he made the middle bar to shoot through the boards from the one end
to the other.
[34] And he overlaid the boards with gold, and made their rings of gold to
be places for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold.
[35] And he made a vail of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined
linen: with cherubims made he it of cunning work.
[36] And he made thereunto four pillars of shittim wood, and overlaid them
with gold: their hooks were of gold; and he cast for them four sockets of
silver.
[37] And he made an hanging for the tabernacle door of blue, and purple, and
scarlet, and fine twined linen, of needlework;
[38] And the five pillars of it with their hooks: and he overlaid their
chapiters and their fillets with gold: but their five sockets were of brass. 

EXODUS 37

Making the Ark of the Covenant

Ex 25:10-20

1 Now Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood. 
Its length was two and a half cubits, 
and its width a cubit and a half, 
and its height a cubit and a half.
(About 3 3/4 feet long and 2 1/4 feet wide and high, 
or 1.1 meters long and 68 centimeters wide and high; similarly in v. 6.)
2 He overlaid it with pure gold, inside and out, 
and made a gold molding for it all around. 
3 He cast four rings of gold for it on its four feet, 
with two rings on one side and two rings on the other side of it. 
4 He made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold. 
5 He put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark.
6 (Heb 9:5) He made the mercy seat of pure gold, two and a half cubits long
 and one and a half cubits wide. 
7 He made two cherubim of gold. He made them of hammered metal
 on the two ends of the mercy seat: 
8 one cherub on one end, and one cherub on the other end. 
Of one piece with the mercy seat he made the cherubim on its two ends.
9 The cherubim spread out their wings upward, covering the mercy seat
 with their wings, with their faces toward each other. 
The faces of the cherubim were looking toward the mercy seat.

[1] And Bezaleel made the ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half was the
length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a
half the height of it:
[2] And he overlaid it with pure gold within and without, and made a crown
of gold to it round about.
[3] And he cast for it four rings of gold, to be set by the four corners of
it; even two rings upon the one side of it, and two rings upon the other
side of it.
[4] And he made staves of shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold.
[5] And he put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, to bear
the ark.
[6] And he made the mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half was the
length thereof, and one cubit and a half the breadth thereof.
[7] And he made two cherubims of gold, beaten out of one piece made he them,
on the two ends of the mercy seat;
[8] One cherub on the end on this side, and another cherub on the other end
on that side: out of the mercy seat made he the cherubims on the two ends
thereof.
[9] And the cherubims spread out their wings on high, and covered with their
wings over the mercy seat, with their faces one to another; even to the
mercy seatward were the faces of the cherubims.

Making the Table for the Showbread

Ex 25:23-29

10 He made the table of acacia wood, two cubits long and a cubit wide
and a cubit and a half high. (About 3 feet long, 1 1/2 feet wide, 
and 2 1/4 feet high, or 90 centimeters long, 45 centimeters wide,
and 68 centimeters high. 
11 And he overlaid it with pure gold and made a gold molding for
it all around. 
12 Also he made a rim for it of a handbreadth
(About 75 feet, or 23 meters.)  all around, and he made a gold molding
for the rim all around. 
13 He cast four rings of gold for it and put the rings on the four corners
that were on its four feet.
14 Close by the rim were the rings, 
the holders for the poles to carry the table. 
15 He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold,
to carry the table. 
16 He made the utensils which were on the table,
its dishes and its pans and its bowls and its jars, 
to be used in pouring out offerings, of pure gold.


[10] And he made the table of shittim wood: two cubits was the length
thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height
thereof:
[11] And he overlaid it with pure gold, and made thereunto a crown of gold
round about.
[12] Also he made thereunto a border of an handbreadth round about; and made
a crown of gold for the border thereof round about.
[13] And he cast for it four rings of gold, and put the rings upon the four
corners that were in the four feet thereof.
[14] Over against the border were the rings, the places for the staves to
bear the table.
[15] And he made the staves of shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold, to
bear the table.
[16] And he made the vessels which were upon the table, his dishes, and his
spoons, and his bowls, and his covers to cover withal, of pure gold.

Making the Lampstand

Ex 25:31-39

17 (Ex 25:31-39; Heb 9:2) Then he made the lampstand of pure gold. 
He made it of hammered work, its base and its shaft.
Its cups, its buds, and its blossoms were of the same piece. 
18 Six branches were extending from its sides, 
three branches of the lampstand from one side of it, 
and three branches of the lampstand from the other side of it. 
19 Three cups shaped like almond flowers, 
a bulb and a flower were on the first branch, 
and three cups shaped like almond flowers, 
a bulb and a flower were on the next branch, 
and the same for the six branches going out of the lampstand. 
20 In the lampstand there were four cups made like almond flowers,
its bulbs and its flowers. 
21 And a bulb was under the first two branches from it, 
and a bulb under the next two branches from it, 
and a bulb under the third two branches from it, 
according to the six branches coming out of it. 
22 Their bulbs and their branches were of the same piece. 
All of it was one hammered work of pure gold.
23 He made its seven lamps with its snuffers and its trays of pure gold. 
24 He made it and all of its utensils from a talent (About 75 pounds,
 or 34 kilograms.) of pure gold.

[17] And he made the candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work made he the
candlestick; his shaft, and his branch, his bowls, his knops, and his
flowers, were of the same:
[18] And six branches going out of the sides thereof; three branches of the
candlestick out of the one side thereof, and three branches of the
candlestick out of the other side thereof:
[19] Three bowls made after the fashion of almonds in one branch, a knop and
a flower; and three bowls made like almonds in another branch, a knop and a
flower: so throughout the six branches going out of the candlestick.
[20] And in the candlestick were four bowls made like almonds, his knops,
and his flowers:
[21] And a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two
branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according
to the six branches going out of it.
[22] Their knops and their branches were of the same: all of it was one
beaten work of pure gold.
[23] And he made his seven lamps, and his snuffers, and his snuffdishes, of
pure gold.
[24] Of a talent of pure gold made he it, and all the vessels thereof.
Making the Altar of Incense

Ex 30:1-5

25 (Ex 30:1-5) He made the incense altar of acacia wood. 
Its length was a cubit, and the width a cubit, a square, 
and two cubits high. (About 1 1/2 feet long and wide and 3 feet high,
 or 45 centimeters long and wide and 90 centimeters high.)
 Its horns were of the same piece. 
26 He overlaid it with pure gold, its top, its sides all around,
and its horns. He also made a gold molding for it all around. 
27 He also made two rings of gold for it under its molding, 
on its two sides, on opposite sides, to be places for the poles to carry it.
28 He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold.
29 He made the holy anointing oil and the pure incense of sweet spices, 
according to the work of a perfumer.

[25] And he made the incense altar of shittim wood: the length of it was a
cubit, and the breadth of it a cubit; it was foursquare; and two cubits was
the height of it; the horns thereof were of the same.
[26] And he overlaid it with pure gold, both the top of it, and the sides
thereof round about, and the horns of it: also he made unto it a crown of
gold round about.
[27] And he made two rings of gold for it under the crown thereof, by the
two corners of it, upon the two sides thereof, to be places for the staves
to bear it withal.
[28] And he made the staves of shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold.
[29] And he made the holy anointing oil, and the pure incense of sweet
spices, according to the work of the apothecary.

EXODUS 38

Making the Altar of Burnt Offering

Ex 27:1-8

1 (Ex 27:1-8) He made the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood.
 It was five cubits (About 71/2 feet, or 2.3 meters long and wide.) 
long and five cubits wide. It was square, and it was three cubits high.
(About 4 1/2 feet, or 1.4 meters.)
2 He made its horns on its four corners. 
The horns were part of the same piece, 
and he overlaid it with bronze. 
3 He made all the utensils of the altar, the pots, and the shovels, 
and the basins, the flesh hooks, and the fire pans.
 He made all its utensils of bronze. 
4 He made for the altar a bronze grating, a network beneath, 
under its ledge, reaching halfway up. 
5 He cast four rings for the four ends of the bronze grating
 to provide places for the poles. 
6 He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with bronze.
7 He put the poles into the rings on the sides of the altar with 
which to carry it. He made the altar hollow, out of boards.

[1] And he made the altar of burnt offering of shittim wood: five cubits was
the length thereof, and five cubits the breadth thereof; it was foursquare;
and three cubits the height thereof.
[2] And he made the horns thereof on the four corners of it; the horns
thereof were of the same: and he overlaid it with brass.
[3] And he made all the vessels of the altar, the pots, and the shovels, and
the basons, and the fleshhooks, and the firepans: all the vessels thereof
made he of brass.
[4] And he made for the altar a brasen grate of network under the compass
thereof beneath unto the midst of it.
[5] And he cast four rings for the four ends of the grate of brass, to be
places for the staves.
[6] And he made the staves of shittim wood, and overlaid them with brass.
[7] And he put the staves into the rings on the sides of the altar, to bear
it withal; he made the altar hollow with boards.

Making the Bronze Basin

8 (Ex 40:7) He made the basin of bronze with its base of bronze
 from the mirrors of the women who served 
 at the entrance of the tent of meeting.

[8] And he made the laver of brass, and the foot of it of brass, of the
lookingglasses of the women assembling, which assembled at the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation.

Making the Court of the Tabernacle

Ex 27:9-19

9 (Ex 27:9-19) He made the courtyard: On the south side southward
 the hangings of the courtyard were of fine twisted linen, 
one hundred cubits; (About 9 inches, or 23 centimeters.)
10 their twenty pillars and their twenty bases were of bronze. 
The hooks of the pillars and their bands were of silver. 
11 For the north side the hangings were one hundred cubits; 
their twenty pillars and their twenty sockets were of bronze.
The hooks of the pillars and their bands were of silver.
12 For the west side the hangings were fifty cubits
(About 75 feet, or 23 meters.) with their ten pillars
 and their ten sockets. 
The hooks of the pillars and their bands were of silver. 
13 For the east side eastward, fifty cubits. 
14 The hangings of one side of the gate were fifteen cubits 
(About 22 feet, or 6.8 meters.) with their three pillars 
and their three sockets, 
15 and also for the other side of the court gate.
 On both sides of the gate of the courtyard the hangings 
were fifteen cubits with their three pillars and their three sockets. 
16 All the hangings of the courtyard all around were of fine twisted linen.
17 The sockets for the pillars were of bronze, the hooks of the pillars 
and their bands were of silver, and the overlaying of their tops of silver,
and all the pillars of the courtyard were furnished with silver bands.
18 The screen for the gate of the courtyard was embroidered of 
blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twisted linen. 
Its length was twenty cubits, (About 30 feet, or 9 meters.)
and its height was five cubits, (About 7 1/2 feet, or 2.3 meters.)
corresponding to the hangings of the courtyard. 
19 Their four pillars and their four sockets were of bronze. 
Their hooks and their bands were of silver, 
and the overlaying of their tops and their bands were of silver. 
20 All the tent pegs of the tabernacle 
and of the courtyard all around were bronze.

[9] And he made the court: on the south side southward the hangings of the
court were of fine twined linen, an hundred cubits:
[10] Their pillars were twenty, and their brasen sockets twenty; the hooks
of the pillars and their fillets were of silver.
[11] And for the north side the hangings were an hundred cubits, their
pillars were twenty, and their sockets of brass twenty; the hooks of the
pillars and their fillets of silver.
[12] And for the west side were hangings of fifty cubits, their pillars ten,
and their sockets ten; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver.
[13] And for the east side eastward fifty cubits.
[14] The hangings of the one side of the gate were fifteen cubits; their
pillars three, and their sockets three.
[15] And for the other side of the court gate, on this hand and that hand,
were hangings of fifteen cubits; their pillars three, and their sockets
three.
[16] All the hangings of the court round about were of fine twined linen.
[17] And the sockets for the pillars were of brass; the hooks of the pillars
and their fillets of silver; and the overlaying of their chapiters of
silver; and all the pillars of the court were filleted with silver.
[18] And the hanging for the gate of the court was needlework, of blue, and
purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen: and twenty cubits was the
length, and the height in the breadth was five cubits, answerable to the
hangings of the court.
[19] And their pillars were four, and their sockets of brass four; their
hooks of silver, and the overlaying of their chapiters and their fillets of
silver.
[20] And all the pins of the tabernacle, and of the court round about, were
of brass.
The Inventory of the Tabernacle

21 (Nu 1:50; 1:53) This is the inventory of the tabernacle, 
the tabernacle of testimony, as it was counted according 
to the commandment of Moses for the service of the Levites 
by the hand of Ithamar, son of Aaron the priest. 
22 Bezalel, the son of Uri the son of Hur of the tribe of Judah,
made all that the Lord commanded Moses. 
23 (Ex 35:34) With him was Oholiab the son of Ahisamak, 
of the tribe of Dan, an engraver and designer, 
an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns, and fine linen.
24 (Lev 27:25; Nu 3:47) All the gold that was used for the work, 
in all the work of the sanctuary, even the gold of the wave offering,
 was twenty-nine talents, 
and seven hundred and thirty shekels, (A little over a ton, or 1 metric ton.)
according to the shekel of the sanctuary.
25 The silver of those who were numbered of the congregation was 
one hundred talents, (About 3 3/4 tons, or 3.4 metric tons; and in v. 27.)
and a thousand, seven hundred and seventy-five shekels, 
(About 44 pounds, or 20 kilograms; and in v. 28.) 
according to the shekel of the sanctuary; 
26 (Nu 1:46; Ex 12:37; 30:13) a bekah for every man, that is, half a shekel,
(About 1/5 ounce, or 5.7 grams.) according to the shekel of the sanctuary,
 for everyone who was numbered, from twenty years old and upward, 
for six hundred and three thousand, five hundred and fifty men. 
27 (Ex 26:19; 26:21) The hundred talents of silver were for casting 
the sockets of the sanctuary and the sockets of the veil — a hundred 
sockets ofthe hundred talents, a talent for a socket. 
28 Of the one thousand seven hundred seventy-five shekels, 
he made hooks for the pillars and overlaid their tops 
and made bands for them.
29 The bronze of the wave offering was seventy talents 
and two thousand four hundred shekels. 
(About 2 1/2 tons, or 2.4 metric tons.)
30 (Ex 26:37) With it he made the sockets 
for the door of the tent of meeting,
and the bronze altar and its bronze grating, 
and all theutensils of the altar, 
31 and the sockets of the courtyard all around, 
and the sockets of the courtyard gate, 
and all the tent pegs of the tabernacle, 
and all the tent pegs of the courtyard all around.

[21] This is the sum of the tabernacle, even of the tabernacle of testimony,
as it was counted, according to the commandment of Moses, for the service of
the Levites, by the hand of Ithamar, son to Aaron the priest.
[22] And Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,
made all that the LORD commanded Moses.
[23] And with him was Aholiab, son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, an
engraver, and a cunning workman, and an embroiderer in blue, and in purple,
and in scarlet, and fine linen.
[24] All the gold that was occupied for the work in all the work of the holy
place, even the gold of the offering, was twenty and nine talents, and seven
hundred and thirty shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary.
[25] And the silver of them that were numbered of the congregation was an
hundred talents, and a thousand seven hundred and threescore and fifteen
shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:
[26] A bekah for every man, that is, half a shekel, after the shekel of the
sanctuary, for every one that went to be numbered, from twenty years old and
upward, for six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and
fifty men.
[27] And of the hundred talents of silver were cast the sockets of the
sanctuary, and the sockets of the vail; an hundred sockets of the hundred
talents, a talent for a socket.
[28] And of the thousand seven hundred seventy and five shekels he made
hooks for the pillars, and overlaid their chapiters, and filleted them.

The True Shepherd

For years, Evan struggled with an addiction that kept him from drawing close 
to God. How can I be worthy of His love? he wondered. So, while he kept going 
to church, he felt that there was an unbridgeable chasm that kept him 
separated from God.

Yet, whenever Evan prayed earnestly for something, God seemed to answer him. 
God also sent people to encourage and comfort him in difficult times. After 
some years, Evan realised God was constantly pursuing him and showing that 
He'd always loved and cared for him, and that's when he began to trust in 
God's forgiveness and love. "Now, I know that I'm forgiven and can let God 
draw me close to Him, even though I'm still struggling with my addiction," 
he said.

Ezekiel 34:11-16 tells us of a God who pursued His people. 
"Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out." He said, 
vowing to rescue them and provide for them abundantly (v. 11). This was 
after their human leaders abandoned them, and they themselves disobeyed 
their true shepherd (vv.1-6). Whether we're helpless victims of circumstances 
or struggling with the consequences of our own sin, God pursues us in love. 
In His mercy and grace, He draws us back to Himself. If you've forgotten God, 
turn back to Him. Then, as He leads, continue to walk with Him each day.

Week 2 - Saved by Grace - Day 3 - The Remedy

Acts 4:12

12 (Mt 1:21; Jn 3:36) "There is no salvation in any other,
for there is no other name under heaven given among men
by which we must be saved."

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name
under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

"You have cancer", the doctor told his patient. "We need to operate
- as soon as possible. It's the only remedy." The patient, not wanting
to undergo surgery unless it was absolutely necessary, sought out a second
opinion, then a third. When the third round of testing came up with the same
results, she returned to the doctor and submitted herself to the treatment.
Often the remedy for the problems in our lives seems worst than the problems
themselves. We don't want to endure the pain of self-examination, of honest
confrontation with our sin and selfishness. We'd rather live in "blissful
ignorance" than face up to ourselves.
But the Bible tells us there is only one remedy for sin: casting ourselves
upon the saving grace of God in Jesus Christ. Submitting ourselves to God's
"treatment" for sin is not an easy matter or a simple decision. We have to
give up on ourselves, on our own striving for self-salvation. We have to come
to the agonising realisation of our sin, the depths to which we have fallen.
Acknowledging sin is not a duty simply for "bad" people who have lived in
rebellion against God. "Good" people - Sunday-school kids, moral parents,
and sweet little grandmothers - may have more difficulty coming to Christ
than swindlers and prostitutes, precisely because their sin is not as
visible - sometimes it is even applauded by church and society.
"Good" or "bad", we all have the same problem: sin. And, because
of the Lord's grace, we all have the same remedy: salvation through Christ.
As we look to him, not to others, and see ourselves in light of his holiness,
we can glimpse the seriousness of our own resistance to him and call upon
his name.

It is estimated that Calgary has 82000 Muslims and Edmonton another 50000 .
Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.
Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor.  It's
become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.
Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group
coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries 
such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.
Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,
emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still 
continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our
Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom
they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.

Please join us in praying for:
- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.
- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to
Muslim-background believers.
- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially
  in their faith and the Church.
- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their 
not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.
- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach.
- for current and new workers among Muslims in these growing Muslim

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid  celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that 
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you 
know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 :  17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; 
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants 
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. 
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: 
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.  20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people - 
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims 
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days! 

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone,
2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings and for all who are in authority,
that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty,
3(1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good and acceptable in the sight of
God our Savior, 4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all men to be saved 
and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

II) Pray for the churches of the province, 
that they would be lighthouses beaming forth
the illuminating truth of God's Word.

III) Pray that the Lord would use the Finding 
the Hope Campaign and booklet to turn many hearts to Jesus

8) Fast and Pray

DAY SIXTEEN:

PRAY FOR THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR SIN TO BECOME CLEAR TO THEM

It can be heartbreaking to watch a loved one make choices that lead them
further into sin and separation from God. As believers, we know that true
freedom and healing come from repentance, yet our prayers and efforts can
sometimes feel unnoticed. We must trust God’s power to open their eyes to
the truth.

In Luke 15, the story of the prodigal son illustrates that there often comes a
moment when the wayward realize the consequences of their actions. Verse 17
states, "When he came to his senses...". This moment of clarity-when the
prodigal recognises their sin and its impact-serves as a turning point. It's 
not something we can force but something we can earnestly pray for.

As we continue to lift them up in prayer, we should ask God to soften their
hearts and reveal the truth of their actions. Our words may not always reach
them, but the Holy Spirit can convict in ways we cannot. Trust that God's 
Spirit is at work even when we can't see it and continue asking for their 
hearts to be opened to come to their senses and return to the Father's 
loving arms.

come to their senses, just like the prodigal son. Reveal the truth of their

convict and restore them. In Jesus' name, Amen.

REFLECTION:

Am I trusting in God's timing to bring my loved one to a place of
repentance? How can I support them with love and truth while waiting for
God to work?

Conclusion:

Pray to the Lord and pray that you work is reflected in the Goodness 
of the Lord.

Pray to the Lord: "Dear God, thank You for always loving me 
despite my struggles and doubts. Please teach me to trust in Your love anew."

Pray to the Lord and pray to know Him as the only source of Salvation. 

Pray to the Lord and pray to be obedient to Him.

Pray to the Lord and pray to know Him as love.

situation and the brokenness that only You can heal. I trust in Your power to
