LEVITICUS 16

The Day of Atonement

Lev 23:26-32; Nu 29:7-11

1 (Lev 10:1-2) The Lord spoke to Moses after the death 
of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near 
to the Lord and died. 
2 (Ex 30:10; 1Ki 8:10-12) The Lord said to Moses: 
Speak to Aaron your brother so that he does not come 
at any time into the Holy Place within the veil 
before the mercy seat, which is on the ark, so that he will not die,
for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat.
3 (Lev 4:3; 1:10) Thus Aaron shall come into the Holy Place 
with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. 
4 (Ex 30:20; 28:39-43)mHe shall put on the holy linen tunic, 
and he shall have the linen undergarment on his body, 
and shall be girded with a linen sash, 
and shall be wearing the linen turban. 
These are holy garments. Therefore he shall wash his body in water 
and then put them on. 
5 (2Ch 29:21; Nu 29:11) He shall take from the congregation 
of the children of Israel two male goats for a sin offering 
and one ram for a burnt offering.
6 (Lev 9:7; Heb 9:7) Aaron shall offer his bull for the sin offering, 
which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house.
7 Then he shall take the two goats and present them before the Lord 
at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 
8 Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: 
one lot for the Lord and the other lot for the scapegoat. 
9 Aaron shall bring the goat on which the lot of the Lord falls 
and offer him for a sin offering. 
10 (1Jn 2:2) But the goat on which the lot falls to be the scapegoat
shall be presented alive before the Lord to make atonement with it, 
that it may be sent away as a scapegoat into the wilderness.
11 (Lev 16:6) Aaron shall bring the bull of the sin offering, 
which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself, 
and for his house, and shall kill 
the bull of the sin offering for himself. 
12 (Lev 10:1; Ex 30:34-38) And he shall take a censer full 
of burning coals of fire from the altar before the Lord, 
and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, 
and bring it within the veil. 
13 (Ex 25:21; 30:1) And he shall put the incense on the fire
before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover 
the mercy seat that is over the testimony, so that he does not die. 
14 (Heb 9:25; Lev 4:5-6) And he shall take of the blood of the bull,
and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the eastern side,
and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle from the blood with 
his finger seven times.
15 (Heb 9:7; 9:3; 9:12) Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering,
which is for the people, and bring its blood within the veil, 
and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bull, 
and sprinkle it over and in front of the mercy seat. 
16 (Ex 29:36-37; Lev 16:18) And he shall make atonement 
for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children 
of Israel and because of their transgressions in all their sins,
and so he shall do for the tent of meeting that remains 
among them in the midst of their uncleanness. 
17 (Lk 1:10) There shall be no man in the tent of meeting when he goes 
in to make atonement in the Holy Place, 
until he comes out and has made atonement for himself, 
and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.
18 (Lev 4:7; Ex 30:10) Then he shall go out to the altar 
that is before the Lord and make atonement for it, 
and he shall take some of the blood of the bull 
and some of the blood of the goat, 
and put it on the horns of the altar all around. 
19 He shall sprinkle from the blood on it with 
his finger seven times, and cleanse it, 
and consecrate it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
20 (Lev 16:16; Eze 45:20) When he has made an end of atonement 
for the Holy Place, and the tent of meeting, and the altar, 
then he shall bring the live goat. 
21 (Isa 53:6; 2Co 5:21) And Aaron shall lay both his hands 
on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities
of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins,
putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away 
by the hand of a designated man into the wilderness. 
22 (Isa 53:11-12; Jn 1:29) And the goat shall bear on it all their iniquities
to a desolate land, and he shall let the goat go free in the wilderness.
23 (Eze 42:14; 44:19) Then Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting, 
and shall take off the linen garments which he put on when he went 
into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there. 
24 (Lev 16:3-5) And he shall wash his body with water in a holy place,
and put on his garments, and come out, and offer his burnt offering,
and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself
and for the people. 
25 (Ex 29:13; Lev 4:8-10) The fat of the sin offering he shall burn 
on the altar.
26 (Lev 16:10) He who releases the goat as the scapegoat shall wash 
his clothes, and bathe his body in water, and afterward come into the camp.
27 (Lev 4:21; 6:30) The bull for the sin offering and the goat 
for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement 
in the Holy Place, shall be carried outside the camp. 
They shall burn in the fire their hides, their flesh, and their refuse. 
28 He who burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his body in water,
and afterward he shall come into the camp.
29 (Nu 29:7; Isa 58:3) This shall be a perpetual statute for you so that 
in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall humble 
yourselves, and do no work of any kind, whether it is the native 
citizen or the stranger who sojourns among you. 
30 (Jer 33:8; Ps 51:2) For on that day the priest shall make atonement 
for you to cleanse you, so that you may be clean from all your sins 
before the Lord. 
31 (Lev 23:32) It shall be a sabbath, a solemn rest for you, 
and you shall humble yourselves. It is a perpetual statute. 
32 (Ex 29:29-30; Lev 16:4) The priest, who is anointed 
and consecrated to minister as a priest in the place of his father, 
shall make atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, 
the holy garments. 
33 (Lev 16:16; 16:6) And he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary,
for the tent of meeting, and for the altar, and he shall make atonement
for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.
34 (Heb 9:7; 9:25) This shall be a perpetual statute for you to make 
atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year.
And Moses did as the Lord commanded him.

Leviticus 16
[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron,
when they offered before the LORD, and died;
[2] And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come
not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat,
which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon
the mercy seat.
[3] Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a
sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.
[4] He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen
breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with
the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore
shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.
[5] And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids
of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
[6] And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for
himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.
[7] And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD at the
door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
[8] And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and
the other lot for the scapegoat.
[9] And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD's lot fell, and offer
him for a sin offering.
[10] But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be
presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let
him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
[11] And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for
himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and
shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:
[12] And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the
altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and
bring it within the vail:

congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
[17] And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he
goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have
made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the
congregation of Israel.
[18] And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an
atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the
blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.
[19] And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times,
and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of
Israel.
[20] And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the
tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:
[21] And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and
confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their
transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat,
and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
[22] And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not
inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.
[23] And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall
put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy
place, and shall leave them there:
[24] And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on
his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt
offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the
people.
[25] And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.
[26] And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes,
and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.
[27] And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin
offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place,
shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire
their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.
[28] And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in
water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
[29] And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh
month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no
work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that
sojourneth among you:
[30] For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse
you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.
[31] It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your
souls, by a statute for ever.
[32] And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to
minister in the priest's office in his father's stead, shall make the
atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:
[33] And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall
make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar,
and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of
the congregation.
[34] And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement
for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the
LORD commanded Moses. 

LEVITICUS 17

The Law About Eating Blood

1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 
2 Speak to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel, 
and say to them: This is the thing which the Lord has commanded, saying: 
3 If anyone of the house of Israel ritually slaughters an ox, a lamb, 
or goat in the camp, or slaughters it outside of the camp, 
4 (Ge 17:14) and does not bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting
to offer it as a gift to the Lord before the tabernacle of the Lord, 
then blood guilt shall be accounted to that man. He has shed blood, 
and that man shall be cut off from among his people. 
5 This is so that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices 
which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them 
to the Lord at the entrance of the tent of meeting, to the priest, 
and offer them for peace offerings to the Lord. 
6 (Nu 18:17; Lev 3:2) The priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar
of the Lord at the entrance of the tent of meeting, 
and burn the fat for a pleasing aroma to the Lord. 
7 (Ex 34:15; Dt 32:17) They shall no more offer their sacrifices 
to goat demons, after whom they have acted like whores. 
This shall be a perpetual statute for them throughout their generations.
8 (Lev 1:2-3) You shall say to them: Any man from the house of Israel, 
or from the foreigners who sojourn among you, who offers a burnt offering 
or sacrifice, 
9 (Lev 17:4) and does not bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting
to offer it to the Lord, even that man shall be cut off from among his people.
10 (Lev 3:17; Ge 9:4) Whoever from the house of Israel, 
or from the strangers who sojourn among you, who eats any manner of blood,
I will set My face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off
from among his people. 
11 (Heb 9:22; Mt 26:28; 1Jn 1:7) For the life of the flesh is in the blood,
and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your lives;
for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul. 
12 Therefore I said to the children of Israel: 
No person among you shall eat blood, nor shall any stranger who sojourns
among you eat blood.
13 (Dt 12:16; Lev 7:26) Whoever from the children of Israel, 
or from the foreigners who sojourn among you, who hunts and catches
any wild animal or fowl that may be eaten, he shall even pour out the blood
and cover it with dirt. 
14 (Ge 9:4) For the life of every creature is its blood; 
in its blood is its life. Therefore I said to the children of Israel:
You shall not eat the blood of any creature, 
for the life of every creature is its blood. 
Whoever eats it shall be cut off.
15 (Ex 22:31; Lev 22:8) Every person who eats that which died of itself,
or that which was torn by animals, whether he is a native citizen 
or a foreigner, he shall both wash his clothes and bathe himself in water,
and be unclean until the evening. Then he shall be clean. 
16 (Lev 5:1) But if he does not wash them or bathe his body, 
then he shall bear his iniquity.

Leviticus 17
[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[2] Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of
Israel, and say unto them; This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded,
saying,
[3] What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or
lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp,
[4] And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,
to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood
shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be
cut off from among his people:
[5] To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which
they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD,
unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and
offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD.
[6] And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the LORD at
the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet
savour unto the LORD.
[7] And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom
they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them
throughout their generations.
[8] And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of
Israel, or of the strangers which sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt
offering of sacrifice,
[9] And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,
to offer it unto the LORD; even that man shall be cut off from among his
people.
[10] And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers
that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my
face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among
his people.
[11] For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you
upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that
maketh an atonement for the soul.
[12] Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat
blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.
[13] And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the
strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or
fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover
it with dust.
[14] For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life
thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the
blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof:
whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.
[15] And every soul that eateth that which died of itself, or that which was

LEVITICUS 18

Laws on Immoral Relations

1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 
2 (Ex 6:7; Lev 11:44) Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them:
I am the Lord your God. 
3 (Ex 23:24; Lev 20:23) After the practices of the land of Egypt, 
from where you lived, you shall not follow, and after the practices
of the land of Canaan, to where I will bring you, you shall not follow;
nor shall you walk in their ordinances. 
4 (Lev 18:2; 18:26) You shall follow My decrees 
and keep My ordinances to walk in them: I am the Lord your God. 
5 (Eze 20:11; Ro 10:5) You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, 
which if a man does them, then he shall live by them: I am the Lord.
6 (Lev 18:7-19) None of you shall approach any of his near relatives 
to have relations: I am the Lord.
7 (Lev 20:11; Eze 22:10) You shall not have relations with your father
or have relations with your mother. She is your mother. 
You shall not have relations with her.
8 (Lev 20:11; 1Co 5:1) You shall not have relations with your father's wife, 
for this exposes your father's nakedness.
9 (Lev 20:17; Dt 27:22) You shall not have relations with your sister,
whether your father's or mother's daughter, 
whether raised in the family or another home.
10 You shall not have relations with your son's daughter 
or your daughter's daughter, 
for this exposes your own nakedness.
11 You shall not have relations with your father's wife's daughter 
who is raised in your father's family, for she is your sister.
12 (Lev 20:19) You shall not have relations with your father's sister, 
for she is your father's relative.
13 You shall not have relations with your mother's sister, 
for she is your mother's relative.
14 (Lev 20:20) You shall not expose the nakedness of your father's brother.
You shall not approach his wife for relations; she is your aunt.
15 (Lev 20:12; Ge 38:26) You shall not have relations 
with your daughter-in-law, for she is your son's wife
-you shall not have relations with her.
16 (Lev 20:21; Dt 25:5) You shall not have relations 
with your brother's wife, for this exposes your brother's nakedness.
17 (Lev 20:14) You shall not have relations with a woman and her daughter,
nor shall you have her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter, 
for this exposes the woman's nakedness. They are all near relatives. 
It is depravity.
18 And you shall not have a woman as a rival wife, 
who is the sister of your other wife, 
for this is to expose her nakedness while her sister, 
your other wife, is still alive.

[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[2] Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the LORD your
God.
[3] After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not
do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall
ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
[4] Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I
am the LORD your God.
[5] Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man
do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.
[6] None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover
their nakedness: I am the LORD.
[7] The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou
not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
[8] The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy
father's nakedness.
[9] The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of
thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their
nakedness thou shalt not uncover.
[10] The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter,
even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own
nakedness.
[11] The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father,
she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
[12] Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's sister: she is thy
father's near kinswoman.
[13] Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's sister: for she is
thy mother's near kinswoman.
[14] Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's brother, thou
shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.
[15] Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy
son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
[16] Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife: it is thy
brother's nakedness.
[17] Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter,
neither shalt thou take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to
uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.
[18] Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover
her nakedness, beside the other in her life time. 

[Incest is illegal]

19 (Lev 15:24; 20:18) Also you shall not approach a woman 
to have relations as long as she is in her menstrual uncleanness.

[19] Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as
long as she is put apart for her uncleanness. 

[Very unhealthy]

20 (Ex 20:14; Lev 20:10) Moreover, you shall not have relations 
with your neighbor's wife to defile yourself with her.
21 (Lev 19:12; 20:2-5; 21:6) You shall not let any of your children 
be offered through the fire to Molek, 
and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.

[20] Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to
defile thyself with her.
[21] And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech,
neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

[Only one creator]

22 (Lev 20:13; 1Co 6:9; 1Ti 1:100 You shall not lie with a man 
as one does with a woman. It is an abomination.

[22] Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. 

[homosexual is not in biblical accordance]

23 (Ex 22:19; Lev 20:15-16) You shall not lie with an animal 
to defile yourself, nor shall any woman lie with an animal. 
It is a perversion.

[23] Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith:
neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is
confusion.

24 (Dt 18:12; Lev 18:30) Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways,
for in these practices the nations I am casting out 
before you have defiled themselves. 

[24] Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the
nations are defiled which I cast out before you: 

[Notice from the Lord]

25 (Lev 18:28; Jer 2:7) And the land has become defiled; 
therefore I have punished its iniquity, 
and the land has vomited out her inhabitants. 
26 (Lev 18:5) But you shall therefore keep My statutes 
and My decrees, and you shall not commit any of these abominations,
either the native citizen or any foreigner who sojourns among you 
27 (for the people of the land, who were before you, 
committed all of these abominations, and the land became defiled), 
28 lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, 
as it vomited out the nations that were before you.
29 For whoever shall commit any of these abominations, 
those persons who commit them shall be cut off from among their people. 
30 (Lev 20:23) Therefore you shall keep My ordinances, 
that you do not commit any one of these abominable customs 
which were committed before you, so that you do not defile 
yourselves by them: I am the Lord your God.

[25] And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon
it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
[26] Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not
commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any
stranger that sojourneth among you:
[27] (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were
before you, and the land is defiled;)
[28] That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out
the nations that were before you.
[29] For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls
that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.
[30] Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of
these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye
defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.

Rules for the New Life

25 (Col 3:9; Zec 8:16; Ro 12:5) Therefore, putting away lying, let every man

AA ride-sharing customer shared that he had endured a driver eating 
the world's smelliest fruit, another driver who was bickering with 
a girlfriend, and one who tried to get him to invest money in a Ponzi scheme.
In each case, instead of a poor rating, he gave the drivers five stars. 
He explained, "They all seemed like nice people. I didn't want them to be 
kicked off the app over my bad rating." He gave false reviews - keeping 
the truth from the drivers . . . and others.

For different reasons, we might withhold the truth from others. 
But the apostle Paul encouraged the Ephesian believers to lovingly 
speak the truth to one another as new creatures in Christ. 
This required cultivating habits of "righteousness and holiness" 
(Ephesians 4:24) - living lives that were set apart for Him 
and that reflected His ways. They were to replace lying with 
telling one another the truth because lies divide and disrupt, 
while truth unites us as believers. He wrote, 
"Each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully 
to your neighbour, for we are all members of one body" (v. 25).

Jesus empowers us with the courage to resist lying and giving 
one another "fake ratings" - things that can disrupt our unity 
with other believers. Living a life of love, as He guides us, 
will lead to our sharing "kind and compassionate" 
expressions of truth (v. 32).

When are you tempted to withhold the truth from other believers? 
Why is it vital to share what’s honest and true?

Dear God, please help me to be authentic 
in my relationships out of love for You and others.

Romans 8:38-39

38 (Eph 1:21; 1Pe 3:22) For I am persuaded that neither death nor life,

Separation is a fact of human life. Relationships disintegrate,
children grow up, loved ones die, husbands and wives divorce,
friends changes and drift apart. We may resist change and separation,
but we must deal with them nevertheless.
Separation sometimes is a natural result of growth and development;
sometimes it is a violent, cataclysmic shaking of an individual's life.
2 lifelong friends go separate ways to college or into future careers;
a church splits over doctrinal differences; a wife finds out a hidden
secret in her husband's past.
But with God, there is no separation, no death, no breaking of vows,
no growing beyond the relationship. Nothing, says Paul, can separate
us from the love of God. A skeleton in my closet, once revealed, may
cost me the trust of those I thought were my friends. But God knows
all my past, all my sin; he forgives, and it cannot separate me from him.
My present personal struggles may cause trouble in my job and result in
the loss of that income, but God understands what I'm going through,
and even when I'm angry at him, he can take it without drawing away
or striking back. My present problems cannot separate me from the Lord.
And God knows, too, the plan he has established for my future. I cannot
walk away from him, grow beyond my need for him, or outrun him into
tomorrow.
She may separate me from my awareness of God's presence in my life,
but it cannot set me beyond his reach. There is no power that is greater
than God's love, and no place I can go that will separate me
from that love.

Application

a) Have I ever felt separated from the love of God? Under what circumstances?

b) How can today's verse free me from anxiety about the past,
the present or the future?

It is estimated that Calgary has 82000 Muslims and Edmonton another 50000 .
Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.
Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor.  It's
become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.
Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group
coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries 
such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.
Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,
emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still 
continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our
Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom
they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.

Please join us in praying for:
- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.
- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to
Muslim-background believers.
- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially
  in their faith and the Church.
- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their 
not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.
- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid  celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that 
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you 
know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 :  17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; 
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants 
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. 
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: 
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.  20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people - 
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims 
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days! 

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

Pray to the Lord and pray to know Him as Love.
