DEUTERONOMY 24

Laws About Marriage and Divorce

1 (Mt 19:7-9; Dt 22:13) When a man takes a wife and marries her, 
and it happens that she finds no favour in his eyes 
because he has found some indecency in her, then let him write 
her a bill of divorce and put it in her hand and send her out of his house. 
2 When she departs out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife. 
3 If the second husband rejects her and writes her a bill of divorce 
and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, 
or if the second husband who took her to be his wife dies, 
4 (Jer 3:1) her first husband, who sent her away, may not
 take her again to be his wife, since she is defiled, for that 
is abomination before the Lord, and you must not bring sin 
on the land, which the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance.
5 (Dt 20:7; Pr 5:18) When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go 
out to war or be charged with any business; he is to be free at home one year,
and must bring joy to his wife which he has taken.

[1] When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that
she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in
her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand,
and send her out of his house.
[2] And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another
man's wife.
[3] And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement,
and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the
latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;
[4] Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be
his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the
LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God
giveth thee for an inheritance.
[5] When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither
shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one
year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

Various Laws

6 (Dt 20:19) No man shall take a lower or upper millstone as a pledge, 
for he would be taking a man's life as a pledge.
7 (Ex 21:16; 1Ti 1:10) If a man is found kidnapping any of his brothers 
of the children of Israel, and makes property of him or sells him,
then that kidnapper must die, and you must remove the evil from among you.
8 (Lev 14:2) Be careful with an outbreak of leprosy, that you diligently
observe and do according to all that the Levitical priests instruct you. 
As I have commanded them, so you must carefully do.
9 (Nu 12:10-15) Remember what the Lord your God did to Miriam 
on the way, after you came out of Egypt.
10 (Dt 15:8) When you do lend your brother anything, you may not go 
into his house to take his pledge. 
11 You must stand outside, and the man to whom you lend must bring 
the pledge outside to you. 
12 (Dt 24:17) If the man is poor, you may not sleep with his pledge. 
13 (Dt 6:25; Da 4:27) In any case, you must return the pledge to him 
when the sun goes down, so that he may sleep in his own cloak 
and bless you, and it will be righteousness to you before the Lord your God.
14 (Pr 14:31; Am 4:1) You may not oppress a hired servant that is poor 
and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of your foreigners 
who are in your land within your towns. 
15 (Jas 5:4; Lev 19:13; Dt 15:9) You must give him his wages on that very day 
before the sun sets, for he is poor, and sets his heart on it, lest he cry 
against you to the Lord, and it be a sin to you.
16 (Eze 18:20; 2Ch 25:4; Jer 31:29-30) Fathers may not be put to death 
for the sons, nor shall sons be put to death for their fathers. 
Every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
17 (Dt 16:19; Ex 22:21-22) You must not pervert the justice of the foreigner 
or of the fatherless, nor take a widow's cloak as a pledge. 
18 (Dt 5:15) On the contrary, you must remember that you were a slave 
in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you there.
Therefore, I command you to do this.
19 (Lev 23:22; 19:9-10) Whenever you reap your harvest in your field 
and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you may not go back to get it. 
It will be for the foreigner, for the fatherless, and for the widow,
so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. 
20 When you beat your olive tree, you may not go over the boughs again. 
It will be for the foreigner, for the fatherless, and for the widow. 
21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it again. 
It will be for the foreigner, for the fatherless, and for the widow. 
22 (Dt 24:18) You must remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt. 
Therefore I command you to do this thing.

[6] No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he
taketh a man's life to pledge.
[7] If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of
Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall
die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.
[8] Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do
according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I
commanded them, so ye shall observe to do.
[9] Remember what the LORD thy God did unto Miriam by the way, after that ye
were come forth out of Egypt.
[10] When thou dost lend thy brother any thing, thou shalt not go into his
house to fetch his pledge.
[11] Thou shalt stand abroad, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring
out the pledge abroad unto thee.
[12] And if the man be poor, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge:
[13] In any case thou shalt deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth
down, that he may sleep in his own raiment, and bless thee: and it shall be
righteousness unto thee before the LORD thy God.
[14] Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether
he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy
gates:
[15] At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down
upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against
thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee.
[16] The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall
the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to
death for his own sin.
[17] Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the
fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge:
[18] But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD
thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.
[19] When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a
sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the
stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may
bless thee in all the work of thine hands.

DEUTERONOMY 25

1 (Dt 17:8-9; Pr 17:15) If there is a controversy between men, 
they are to go to court for judgment, so that the judges may judge them. 
Then they shall justify the righteous and condemn the wicked. 
2 (Lk 12:47-48) It must be, if the wicked man is worthy to be beaten,
then the judge must make him lie down and be beaten in his presence,
with the number of strikes his guilt deserves. 
3 (Job 18:3)He may give him forty stripes, but no more, lest,
if he should exceed and beat him more with numerous stripes, 
then your brother may appear contemptible to you.
4 (Pr 12:10) You must not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain.

[1] If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that
the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and
condemn the wicked.
[2] And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the
judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face,
according to his fault, by a certain number.
[3] Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should
exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should
seem vile unto thee.
[4] Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.

Levirate Marriage

5 (Mt 22:24; Mk 12:19) If brothers dwell together, and one of them dies 
without having had a child, the wife of the deceased may not marry 
outside the family to a stranger. Her husband's brother must go to her 
and take her to himself as a wife and perform the duty of a husband's 
brother to her. 
6 It shall be, that the firstborn whom she bears shall continue in the name
of his brother who is deceased, so that his name will not be blotted 
out of Israel.
7 If the man does not want to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's 
wife go up to the gate to the elders and say, "My husband's brother refuses
to raise up his brother's name in Israel. He will not perform the duty 
of my husband's brother."
8 (Ru 4:6) Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him, 
and if he persists and says, "I do not want to take her,"
9 (Nu 12:14; Ru 4:7-8) then his brother's wife must come to him in 
the presence of the elders and remove his sandal from his foot, 
and spit in his face, and answer and say, 
"So shall it be done to that man who will not build up his brother's house."
10 His name will be called in Israel, 
"The house of him who has his sandal removed."

[5] If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the
wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband's
brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the
duty of an husband's brother unto her.
[6] And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in
the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of
Israel.
[7] And if the man like not to take his brother's wife, then let his
brother's wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband's
brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not
perform the duty of my husband's brother.
[8] Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if
he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;
[9] Then shall his brother's wife come unto him in the presence of the
elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and
shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build
up his brother's house.
[10] And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his
shoe loosed.

Various Laws

11 When a man and his brother fight one another, and the wife of the one draws
near in order to deliver her husband out of the hand of him who fights him, 
and reaches out her hand and seizes him by the private parts, 
12 (Dt 19:13) then you must cut off her hand. You must not pity her.
13 (Pr 11:1; 16:11) You must not have in your bag different weights, 
a large and a small. 
14 You must not have in your house differing measures, a large and a small. 
15 (Ex 20:12; Dt 4:40) But you must have a perfect and just weight-a perfect 
and just measure you must have, so that your days may be lengthened 
in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. 
16 (Pr 11:1; Dt 18:12) For all who do such things and all who act unjustly 
are an abomination to the Lord your God.
17 (Ex 17:8-16) Remember what Amalek did to you by the road
when you were coming out of Egypt, 
18 (Ps 36:1; Ro 3:18) how he met you by the way and attacked 
at your rear all that were stragglers behind you, 
when you were exhausted and weary. He did not fear God. 
19 (Ex 17:14) Therefore it shall be, when the Lord your God has given you 
rest from all your surrounding enemies, in the land which the Lord your 
God is giving you for an inheritance to possess, that you must blot out 
the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. You must not forget it.

[11] When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one
draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth
him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:
[12] Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.
[13] Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.
[14] Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a
small.
[15] But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just
measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which
the LORD thy God giveth thee.
[16] For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an
abomination unto the LORD thy God.
[17] Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth
out of Egypt;
[18] How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all
that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared
not God.
[19] Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from
all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth
thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the
remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it. 

DEUTERONOMY 26

First Fruits and Tithes

1 And it must be, when you come into the land which the Lord your God 
is giving you for an inheritance, and you possess it, and dwell in it, 
2 (Ex 23:19; 23:16) that you shall take from the first of all the produce 
of the ground which you shall bring from your land that the Lord your God
is giving you, and put it in a basket and go to the place where the Lord 
your God chooses to make His name abide. 
3 You shall go to the priest in office at that time and say to him, 
"I profess this day to the Lord your God that I have come into the land 
which the Lord promised to our fathers to give us."
4 The priest will take the basket out of your hand and set it down 
before the altar of the Lord your God. 
5 (Ge 43:1-2; 46:27) Then you must answer and say before the Lord your God, 
"A wandering ArameanRebekah, Jacob’s mother, was an Aramean. 
was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with 
only a few in number, but there he became a great, mighty, 
and populous nation.
6 (Ex 1:11; 1:14) However, the Egyptians mistreated 
and afflicted us, and laid upon us harsh labor. 
7 (Ex 3:9) And when we cried to the Lord God of our fathers,
the Lord heard our voice, and looked on our affliction,
our labor, and our oppression.
8 (Dt 4:34; Ex 12:37; 12:51) And the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt
with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with great terror,
and with signs and wonders. 
9 (Ex 3:8) Then He brought us into this place, and has given us this land,
a land that flows with milk and honey. 
10 Now, indeed, I have brought the first fruits of the land, which you, 
O Lord, have given me." Then you must set it before the Lord your God 
and worship before the Lord your God. 
11 (Dt 12:7; 16:11) You must rejoice in every good thing which the Lord 
your God has given to you and your house, you, and the Levite, 
as well as the foreigner who is among you.
12 (Lev 27:30; Nu 18:24) When you have finished tithing all the tithes 
of your income the third year, which is the year of tithing, 
and have given it to the Levite, the foreigner, the orphan, and the widow, 
that they may eat within your towns and be satisfied, 
13 (Ps 119:141; 119:153) then you shall say before the Lord your God, 
"I have removed the sacred things out of my house and also have 
given them to the Levite, and to the foreigner, to the orphan, 
and to the widow, according to all Your commandments 
which You have commanded me. I have not transgressed 
Your commandments or forgotten them. 
14 (Lev 7:20; 21:1) I have not eaten anything when in mourning, 
nor have I removed anything while unclean, nor offered anything to the dead. 
I have listened to the voice of the Lord my God and have done according 
to all that You have commanded me. 
15 (Isa 63:15; Zec 2:13) Look down from Your holy habitation, 
from heaven, and bless Your people Israel and the land which 
You have given us, as You swore to our fathers, 
a land flowing with milk and honey."

[1] And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the LORD thy
God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein;
[2] That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which
thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt
put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall
choose to place his name there.
[3] And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say
unto him, I profess this day unto the LORD thy God, that I am come unto the
country which the LORD sware unto our fathers for to give us.
[4] And the priest shall take the basket out of thine hand, and set it down
before the altar of the LORD thy God.
[5] And thou shalt speak and say before the LORD thy God, A Syrian ready to
perish was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with
a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous:
[6] And the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us
hard bondage:
[7] And when we cried unto the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our
voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:
[8] And the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with
an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with
wonders:
[9] And he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land,
even a land that floweth with milk and honey.
[10] And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which
thou, O LORD, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the LORD thy God,
and worship before the LORD thy God:
[11] And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath
given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the
stranger that is among you.
[12] When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase
the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the
Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat
within thy gates, and be filled;
[13] Then thou shalt say before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the
hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite,
and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all
thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy
commandments, neither have I forgotten them:
[14] I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away
ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the dead: but
I have hearkened to the voice of the LORD my God, and have done according to
all that thou hast commanded me.
[15] Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people
Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our
fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.

An Exhortation to Obey

16 Today the Lord your God has commanded you to do these statutes 
and judgments. You must therefore keep and do them with all your 
heart and with all your soul. 
17 (Ex 24:7) You have affirmed today that the Lord is your God 
and vowed to walk in His ways, and to keep His statutes, 
and His commandments, and His judgments, and to listen to His voice. 
18 (Dt 7:6; 14:2) And the Lord has affirmed today that you are His special 
people, just as He has promised you, and that you should keep 
all His commandments. 
19 (Dt 7:6; 28:1) He will exalt you above all nations which He has made, 
in praise, and in name, and in honor; and that you may be a holy people
to the Lord your God, just as He has spoken.

[16] This day the LORD thy God hath commanded thee to do these statutes and
judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thine heart, and
with all thy soul.
[17] Thou hast avouched the LORD this day to be thy God, and to walk in his
ways, and to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and
to hearken unto his voice:
[18] And the LORD hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as
he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments;
[19] And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise,
and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the
LORD thy God, as he hath spoken.

DEUTERONOMY 27

The Altar on Mount Ebal

1 Then Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying: 
Keep all the commandments which I am commanding you today. 
2 (Jos 4:1) On the day when you cross over the Jordan into the land 
which the Lord your God is giving you, you must set up for yourself 
great stones, and cover them with plaster. 
3 (Dt 26:9; Jos 8:32) Then you must write all the words of this law on them, 
when you cross over, so that you may enter into the land which the Lord 
your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, 
just as the Lord God of your fathers promised you. 
4 Therefore, when you cross over the Jordan, you shall set up these stones, 
which I am commanding you today, on Mount Ebal,
and you shall cover them with plaster. 
5 (Ex 20:25) There you must build an altar to the Lord your God, 
an altar of stones. You must not use any iron tool on them. 
6 You must build the altar of the Lord your God with whole stones, 
and you must offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God. 
7 (Dt 12:7) You must offer peace offerings and eat there, 
and rejoice before the Lord your God. 
8 (Hab 2:2) You must write all the words of this law 
very clearly on the stones.
9 Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel, saying: 
Be silent and listen, O Israel. Today you have become the people 
of the Lord your God. 
10 Therefore, you must obey the voice of the Lord your God 
and do His commandments and His statutes, which I am commanding you today.
11 Moses commanded the people the same day, saying:
12 (Jdg 9:7) These shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people 
when you cross over the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, 
and Benjamin. 
13 And these must stand on Mount Ebal for the curse: 
Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
14 (Da 9:11) The Levites will answer and say to all the men of Israel 
with a loud voice:
15 (Ex 20:4; 34:17) "Cursed is the man who makes any graven or molded image, 
an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and 
puts it in a secret place" And all the people shall answer and say, "Amen."
16 (Ex 20:12; 21:17) "Cursed is he who disrespects his father or his mother."
And all the people shall say, "Amen."
17 (Dt 19:14; Pr 22:28) "Cursed is he who removes his neighbor's landmark."
And all the people shall say, "Amen."
18 (Lev 19:14) "Cursed is he who misleads the blind man on the road."
And all the people shall say, "Amen."
19 (Dt 10:18; 24:17) "Cursed is he who perverts justice for the foreigner, 
orphan, and widow." And all the people shall say, "Amen."
20 (Dt 22:30; Lev 18:8) "Cursed is he who lies with his father's wife, 
for he dishonors his father." And all the people shall say, "Amen."
21 (Lev 18:23; Ex 22:19) "Cursed is he who lies with any kind of beast."
And all the people shall say, "Amen."
22 (Lev 18:9; 20:17) "Cursed is he who lies with his sister, the daughter 
of his father, or the daughter of his mother." 
And all the people shall say, "Amen."
23 (Lev 20:14; 18:17) "Cursed is he who lies with his mother-in-law." 
And all the people shall say, "Amen."
24 (Lev 24:17; Nu 35:31) "Cursed is he who strikes down 
his neighbor secretly." And all the people shall say, "Amen."
25 (Ex 23:7-8; Dt 10:17) "Cursed is he who receives pay to slay 
an innocent person." And all the people shall say, "Amen."
26 (Gal 3:10; Ps 119:21) "Cursed is he who does not confirm 
all the words of this law by doing them." 
And all the people shall say, "Amen."

stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.
[6] Thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God of whole stones: and thou
shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD thy God:
[7] And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice
before the LORD thy God.
[8] And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very
plainly.

[20] Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he uncovereth
his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.
[21] Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people
shall say, Amen.
[22] Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or
the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

3 (1Ki 7:14; Ex 35:31) I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom,
in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of craftsmanship
4 to devise artistic works for work with gold, with silver, and with bronze,
5 and in the cutting of stones for settings, and in carving of wood,
to work in all manner of craftsmanship.

of the tribe of Dan, and I have given skill to all who are
specially skilled, that they may make everything that I have commanded you:

Some of the most famous pianists in the world, including Van Cliburn 
and Vladimir Horowitz, relied on Franz Mohr, chief concert technician 
at Steinway & Sons in New York, to ensure that their concert pianos 
were ready for performances. A master piano tuner, Mohr was sought 
after for his intricate knowledge of pianos and great skill developed 
over decades. Mohr believed his skills were an avenue to serve God, 
and he regularly shared his faith with pianists and performance staff.

When the nation of Israel was preparing to build the tent of meeting 
and other items necessary for worship, they needed individuals with 
expert skills (Exodus 31:7-11). God appointed two skilled artisans, 
Bezalel and Oholiab, to do the work and filled them with
 the “Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge 
 and with all kinds of skills - to make artistic designs” (vv. 3-4). 
 In addition to their specialized skills, God empowered them with 
 His Spirit to guide their work. Their willingness to use their 
 unique talents in service to God allowed the Israelites 
 to appropriately worship Him.

Whether or not we consider ourselves artistic, each of us has unique, 
God-given gifts that we can use to serve others (Romans 12:6). 
Empowered by the Spirit, we can serve and worship God through 
our work using the wisdom, understanding, and skills He's given us.

Phil 4:19

"But Mom, I really need these!" The strident voice of a teenage girl
rose above the hum of voices in the department store. The item in question
was a pair of $80 blue Jeans, faded, bleached, and torn in the right knee.
Style . Fashion. Self-Image. The girl may not have needed the jeans to
enhance her wardrobe, but she obviously felt she needed then to
enhance her acceptability among her peers.
Phillippains 4:19 promises that God "shall supply your every need according
to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." But just what needs does this
promise cover? My need for a bigger house? A better job?
An $80 pair of Calvin Kleins?
Certainly God knows and cares about the physical, superficial need of our
lives, and he provides what we need to sustain life. But God's priority
goes much deeper than the kind of radial tires we buy or the brand name on
our back pockets. God is interested in eternal values, in spiritual needs, and
he knows what we need in our lives to draw us closer to him.
"Out of his glorious riches in Christ Jesus," God will enrich us spiritually.
The application of Phil 4:19 involves trusting God to know and care about our
real needs, the deep needs of our souls, and allowing him the freedom to
order our circumstances so that those needs are met. When we are bold
enough to pray, "Lord, do whatever is necessary to make me more like
Jesus Christ," our Father delights to answer that prayer and supply our needs.

Saskatoon has seen quick growth in its Muslim population over the past
5 years, which maybe as high as 5000 today. Islamic leaders have 
focused specifically on this city , having twice already sent cohorts
of about 70 families to start mosques. There are now 7 Islamic centres
of worship and an ISlamic madrassah (school) located right next to a 
Christian school.
Of particular concern recently is the number of young adults who grew up
in evangelical churches and converted to Islam. Most of these are young
women who were wooed by Muslim man and became emotionally bonded. 
Both prior to and after marrying, these women are known to convert to ISlam.

Agree in prayer with us for:
- entire congregations and individual believers to catch God's heart
and passion for reaching Muslims in Saskatoon and the other growing
Muslim population centres of Saskatchewan.
- for the eyes and understanding of Canadian youth to be opened to the 
  spiritual reality of Islam, and not deceived nor manipulated into
  converting to a religion which cannot offer assurance of salvation. 
- for the few workers among Muslims now engaged there, and for many more
  to be raised up into effective witness.
- for prayer and training events that are starting in Saskatoon 
  to spread and grow to other cities.

Pray for Asylum Seekers in Europe </a>

Hussain grew up as the only child of a moderately Muslim couple, 
but within a fundamentalist Islamic regime. In his mid 20s, he worked in 
a fitness centre where one of his workmates was a follower of Jesus. One day, 
they had a discussion about the Bible and, as a parting gift before moving 
to another city, his colleague gave Hussain a copy of the New Testament 
in his own language.

Hussain read the Scriptures from cover to cover and had many questions. 
However, there was no-one with whom he could safely talk. Even so, 
as he read, he experienced the presence and peace of God, 
and became convinced that Jesus' words are life and truth. 
Although supportive of their son's new beliefs, his parents warned 
him to keep them to himself. And so Hussain remained alone 
as a believer for the next five years.

During that time, the Islamic regime became more and more repressive. 
Hussain knew that if he stayed, eventually he would be caught and killed, 
and so he decided to run to a safe European country, where he finally 
met other Christians and was baptised.

Two years have passed and Hussain is still fighting for refugee status 
in his adopted country. He works hard to learn the language, 
and dreams of going to university to become an engineer. However, 
there is still a chance he might be rejected and deported 
to his homeland, where he would almost certainly be imprisoned.

How to Pray

Pray for Christian refugees from a Muslim background who, like Hussain, 
are in danger of being deported by their host countries.

Pray for boldness among Christians in Muslim countries to discuss 
the Bible with their Muslim friends and distribute it wisely.

Pray for revelation for Muslim seekers as they read God's word, 
and for access to the people and resources to help them on their faith journey.

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .
