2) Our Daily Bread for 23 March 2025 titled

Being Still Before God </a>
Psalm 46
Live as Servants of God
Psalms 46
For the Music Director. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. According to Alamoth.
A Song.
1 God is our refuge and strength,
a well-proven help in trouble.
2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed,
and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) There is a river whose streams make glad the city
of God, the holy dwelling place of the Most High.
5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) God is in the midst of her; she will not be moved;
God will help her in the early dawn.
6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) The nations roared; the kingdoms were moved;
He uttered His voice; the earth melted.
7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) The Lord of Hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) Come, see the works of the Lord,
who makes desolations in the earth.
9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts off the spear;
He burns the chariot in the fire.
10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) Be still and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.
11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) The Lord of Hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
Psalm 46
[1] God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
[2] Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though
the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
[3] Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains
shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
[4] There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God,
the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
[5] God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her,
and that right early.
[6] The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the
earth melted.
[7] The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
[8] Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in
the earth.
[9] He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow,
and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
[10] Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen,
I will be exalted in the earth.
[11] The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
I love the idea of stillness. Of quiet. Of resting in the refuge of God's care
(Psalm 46:1). And an often-quoted passage from Psalm 46 teaches us that
quieting our hearts, our minds, and our souls is integral to knowing God:
"Be still, and know that I am God{" (v. 10).
But being still isn't easy, is it? Being quiet - and especially trying
to still our hearts before God - can sometimes seem almost impossible.
Why is that?
One of the most basic laws of physics tells us that "objects in motion
tend to stay in motion". So shifting from constant motion, activity
and obligation isn't easy because it involves letting the momentum
of our activity come to rest. We might think of it like a boat's wake:
even as a boat tries to stop, the momentum of its wake - the waves
it caused that are now catching up to the still boat - still roll
beneath, pushing it along.
If you recognise the value of stillness but struggle to get there,
that's one reason why. Our activities and overall pace are like that
"object in motion". So give yourself plenty of space and grace as
you sit before God and rest in Him. It may take some time for the waves of
your spiritual wake to wash past you, to settle into being quiet before Him.
By: Adam R. Holz
Reflect & Pray
What keeps you from being quiet before God?
How will you make time to intentionally be still?
Father, we live in a noisy world, full of activity.
Please help me to learn to be quiet before You,
to wait out the waves of my soul and trust that You are present.

Week 8 Guided by Grace Day 1 A circle of Light
John 8:12
12 (Jn 12:35; Job 33:28; Isa 49:6)Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying,
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me
shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life."
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world:
he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life.
When Judy Garland stepped onstage, she filled the spotlight. Nothing was
illuminated but her face, and as she sang, her listeners had a sense of being
transported beyond themselves into the meaning of her song. The focus of
reality, at that moment, was "Judy", and everything else faded into the dim
recesses of the shadowed room. The spotlight brought her into sharp focus
as the center of attention, and all around her was darkness.
When the scriptures speaks of Jesus as "the light," the image is not
of thousands of blazing bulbs lighting up a football field for a night game.
Rather, he is like a hand-help lamp that throws a circle of light in the
immediate vicinity. such a lamp lights the path that a traveler will walk,
but lights it only one step at a time.
Jesus is the center of that circle of light. As we follow him, we share the
light, but he is always at center. Jesus Christ is the focal point,
and everything else fades into dim gray by comparison.
If we are to keep our lives illuminated, to have his light falling upon the
road we walk, we must stay close to him. Jesus does not hand the lamp
to us and suggest that we go the way he wants; he , the Light, leads,
and if we want to stay in the light, we follow.
Application
a) Have I ever tried to go my own way, apart from the Light?
What was the result?
b) How can this verse help me remember the importance of staying close
to Jesus?
4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland
Haggai 2:7-9
7 (1Ki 8:11; Isa 60:7) And I will shake all the nations,
and they will come with the wealth of all nations,
and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of Hosts.
8 (Isa 60:17) The silver is mine, and the gold is Mine,
says the Lord of Hosts.
9 (Isa 9:6-7) The glory of this latter house will be greater
than the former, says the Lord of Hosts. And in this place
I will give peace, says the Lord of Hosts.
7 and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations
shall come: and I will fill this house with glory,
saith the LORD of hosts.
8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,
saith the LORD of hosts.
9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater
than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place
will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.
5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:
God's Help in Times of Temptation
James 1:12-18
Trial and Temptation
12 (Jas 2:5; 1Co 9:25; 2Ti 4:8) Blessed is the man who endures temptation,
for when he is tried, he will receive the crown of life,
which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God,"
for God cannot be tempted with evil; neither does He tempt anyone.
14 But each man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.
15 (Job 15:35; Ps 7:14) Then, when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin;
and when sin is finished, it brings forth death.
16 (Jas 1:19; 2:5) Do not err, my beloved brothers.
17 (Mal 3:6; Nu 23:19; Jn 3:27) Every good gift and every perfect gift
is from above and comes down from the Father of lights,
with whom is no change or shadow of turning.
18 (1Pe 1:23; Jn 1:13; Rev 14:4) Of His own will He brought us forth with
the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of His creatures.
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried,
he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised
to them that love him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God:
for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 but every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust,
and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin:
and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness,
neither shadow of turning.
18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth,
that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
Remember God's promises when You pray
The Lord's prayer
Matthew 6:9-13
9 "Therefore pray in this manner:
Our Father who is in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.
12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2021 edition?)
Saskatchewan
Quick facts on Muslims in Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan 2015 population 1125400
est Muslim Population 17279
CNMM Networks: Saskatoon
Saskatoon has seen quick growth in its Muslim population over the past
5 years, which maybe as high as 5000 today. Islamic leaders have
focused specifically on this city , having twice already sent cohorts
of about 70 families to start mosques. There are now 7 Islamic centres
of worship and an Islamic madrassah (school) located right next to a
Christian school.
Of particular concern recently is the number of young adults who grew up
in evangelical churches and converted to Islam. Most of these are young
women who were wooed by Muslim man and became emotionally bonded.
Both prior to and after marrying, these women are known to convert to Islam.
Agree in prayer with us for:
- entire congregations and individual believers to catch God's heart
and passion for reaching Muslims in Saskatoon and the other growing
Muslim population centres of Saskatchewan.
- for the eyes and understanding of Canadian youth to be opened to the
spiritual reality of Islam, and not deceived nor manipulated into
converting to a religion which cannot offer assurance of salvation.
- for the few workers among Muslims now engaged there, and for many more
to be raised up into effective witness.
- for prayer and training events that are starting in Saskatoon
to spread and grow to other cities.
Adding further

Pray for the Oromo</a>
Ahmed has only recently started travelling with Jesus. He lives in a small
village, far away from any major city. His half-brother lives abroad
and visits the family every year. He always told them about Jesus.
For a long time, Ahmed had little interest in this. Nevertheless,
he listened patiently.
Yet one sentence stood out clearly and stuck in his head:
"God loves you!" This prompted Ahmed to read the New Testament on his mobile
phone. Soon, we wanted to know more.
As there were no followers of Jesus in his village, Ahmed travelled
to the city. There he met a pastor who took time for him. After a long time,
Ahmed entrusted his life to Jesus and was baptised. However, his life did
not become easier, but more difficult. When it became known that he no longer
went to the mosque, he was questioned by the village elders. Even his friends
no longer want to be with him, as they now see him as an unbeliever. Many
Oromo who follow Jesus feel the same way as Ahmed.
At around 45 million, the Oromo are the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia.
Although a cultural majority, they were oppressed for a long time.
Great hopes were raised when Abiy Ahmed, an Oromo, became
Prime Minister of Ethiopia. But even he was unable to halt the country's
decline. In many areas of Oromia, there are no churches that new followers
of Jesus could join. Persecution and social ostracism await Muslims
who want to follow Jesus.
How to Pray
Pray for more Oromo to hear the Good News about Jesus in their own
language and be able to understand it.
Pray for the followers of Jesus among the Oromo,
and the few churches that exist, to grow in strength and number.
Pray for courage and wisdom for the believers to tell their friends
and family about Jesus. Pray they would have opportunities to come
together and encourage one another.
My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .
