PSALMS 81

For the Music Director. According to The Gittith. A Psalm of Asaph.

1 Sing aloud unto God our strength;
make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Lift up a melody, and sound the tambourine,
the pleasant lyre with the harp.
3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Blow the trumpet at the New Moon,
at the full moon on our feast day.
4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) For this is a statute for Israel,
a decree of the God of Jacob.
5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) This He ordained in Joseph as a decree
when He went out against the land of Egypt.
I heard a voice that I had not known:
6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) "I removed his shoulder from the burden;
his hands were released from holding the basket.
7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) You called in trouble, and I delivered you;
I answered you in the secret place of thunder;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah
8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) Hear, O My people, and I will testify against you.
O Israel, if you would listen to me!
9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) There shall be no strange god among you;
neither shall you bow down to any strange god.
10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) I am the Lord your God,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt;
open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) "But My people would not listen to My voice;
Israel would not submit to Me.
12 So I gave them up to their stubborn hearts,
to walk in their own counsels.
13 "Oh, that My people would listen to Me,
and Israel would follow in My ways!
14 I would soon subdue their enemies,
and turn My hand against their adversaries.
15 Let those who hate the Lord cower before Him
and their fate might last forever.
16 But I would feed them with the finest of wheat,
and with honey out of the rock I would satisfy you."

Psalm 81

solemn feast day.

land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

PSALMS 88

1 O Lord, God of my salvation,
I cry out day and night before You.
2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Let my prayer come before You;
incline Your ear to my cry.
3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) For my soul is full of troubles,
and my life draws near to Sheol.
4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) I am counted with those who go down to the grave;
I am a man who has no strength,

like those whom You remember no more,

14 O Lord, why do You cast away my soul?
Why do You hide Your face from me?
15 I am afflicted and close to death since my youth;
while I suffer Your terrors I am helpless.
16 Your fierce wrath sweeps over me;
Your terrors destroy me.
17 They come around me daily like a flood;
they encircle me together.
18 You have caused to be far from me my lovers and friends,
and my companion is darkness.

Psalm 88

PSALMS 92

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.

1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
and to sing praises unto Your name, O Most High:
2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) to declare forth Your lovingkindness in the morning
and Your faithfulness in the night,
3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) on a ten-stringed lute and on the harp,
and on the lyre with a solemn sound.
4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) For you, O Lord, have made me glad through Your work;
I will sing joyfully at the works of Your hands.
5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) O Lord, how great are Your works!
Your thoughts are very deep!
6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) A brutish man does not recognize,
neither does the fool understand this.
7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) Though the wicked spring up as the grass
and all those who do iniquity flourish,
they shall be destroyed forever:
8 (Job 35:10; Ps 63:6) But You, O Lord, are on high forever.
9 (Ps 38:6; 18:2) For Your enemies, O Lord,
for Your enemies shall perish;
all those who do iniquity shall be scattered.
10 (Ps 42:3; Joel 2:17) But my horn You have exalted
like the horn of the wild ox;
You have anointed me with fresh oil.
11 (Ps 42:5; 43:5) My eyes also shall see the downfall of my enemies,
and my ears shall hear the doom of my wicked adversaries.
12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those that are planted in the house of the Lord
shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age;
they shall be filled with vitality and foliage,
15 to show that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Psalm 92

Psalm 93

Joshua 1:1-9

The Lord Commissions Joshua

1 (Ex 24:13; Dt 1:38) Now after the death of Moses
the servant of the Lord, the Lord spoke to Joshua son of Nun,
the assistant of Moses:
2 "Moses My servant is dead, so now get up and cross over the Jordan
-you and all this people-to the land that I am giving
to the children of Israel.
3 (Dt 11:24; Jos 14:9) I have given you every place
that the sole of your foot shall tread, as I said to Moses.
4 (Ex 23:31) From the wilderness and this Lebanon,
as far as the great river, the River Euphrates,
all the land of the Hittites,
and to the Mediterranean Sea toward the setting of the sun
will be your territory.
5 (Dt 7:24; 31:6-8) No man will be able to stand against you
all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, I will be with you.

afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee
whithersoever thou goest. 

A school bus driver passed out at the wheel, and his large vehicle loaded 
with sixty students was careening out of control. Seventh grader Dillon 
Reeves burst from his seat, rushed to the front of the bus, and slowly 
stepped on the brake in the nick of time. While most students were busy 
texting or playing games on their phones, Dillon - who didn't have 
a phone - had his head up and reacted. He knew to depress the brake 
slowly as he'd seen the driver do many times. Remaining alert 
and not distracted helped him save the lives of all aboard, 
including the driver who later revived.

Joshua had to step up courageously after his leader, Moses, was no 
longer "in the driver's seat" - leading the people of Israel. 
God said to him, "Moses my servant is dead. Now . . . get ready"
(Joshua 1:2). What's more, He instructed, "Be strong and very courageous. 
Be careful to . . . not turn from [the Book of the Law] to the right 
or to the left" (v. 7). God was telling Joshua not to get distracted 
and to keep his focus, and to keep his eyes on the instructions He'd 
given - meditating on them "day and night" (v. 8).

We can be distracted by screens and other things that cause us to take 
our eyes off God and the wisdom found in Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16-17). 
Instead, as we remain alert 
"by keeping our eyes on Jesus" (Hebrews 12:2 nlt), 
we can spring into action when God calls.

Week 4 - The Blessings of Grace Day 7 God's Bulldozer - Luke 3:5-6

When a new highway is being constructed, the roads crew work hard
in preparing for the new surface to be laid. Giant bulldozers cut through
the hillsides, moving earth, leveling, filling, evening the path out where
the roadway will run. When the work is first begun, if often looks like chaos:
and even after the highway begins to take shape, the land is still ugly,
scarred by the unsightly gashes cut through the landscape. Yet after
the work is completed and the grass and trees are replanted, we forget
the temporary upheaval and see only the
beauty of the land and the convenience of the new roadway.
In Luke 3:5-6, John the Baptist presents a prophecy of the coming of Christ,
a prophecy quoted from Isaiah 40:3-5 . The prophecy speaks of the preparation
of the world for the coming Messiah, but is also applies to the preparation
of the individual heart to receive him.
Sometimes, the Holy Spirit must do major work in our hearts to prepare us for
the coming of Christ into our live. Like a bulldozer, he brings down the
mountains of pride in our lives. He fill the empty places , corrects
the crooked, grades down the rough edges of our hearts.
Often this is not pleasant work. We prefer to maintain the rugged landscape
of Self, and we do not like the ugly scars that are left after the bulldozer
has done its job.
But if we submit to the Spirit's "Construction work" in us, the way will be
paved for the Lord to enter into our lives, and others will see in us,
the way be paved for the Lord to enter into our lives, and other will see
in us the glory and salvation of our God.

Application

a) What "construction work" has to Holy Spirit done in me?

b) What restoration has taken place because of that work?

c) How do today's verses help me put in perspective the work
God still want to do in me?

Manitoba 2015 population  1 282 000

est Muslim Population      21 349

CNMM Networks: Winnipeg

The Muslim population of Manitoba, understandably centred in Winnipeg, is very
diverse and represents some 48 different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. 
Conservative estimates put their number at 21000 , with some suggesting 
it might be twice that size.
Some outreach among Muslims has started, yet in comparison to the size 
of this community, there is the need and opportunity for far more engagement.
Continued influx of new immigrants and refugees continues to see the growth
of this Muslim centre in Manitoba. 
We rejoice in the Arabic fellowship meeting there and the energetic workers
among Muslims in Winnipeg.

Let us intercede in unity for:

- new Christian workers among Manitoba's growing Muslim population
- new church ministries focused on prayer, equipping and reaching Muslim 
  communities around them, as well as training new workers
- the Arabic fellowship and their ministries of discipling new Muslim
  background believers and for effectiveness in outreach
- for the recent Somali woman who found faith  in Jesus and stood her ground
  in the face of opposition to her new faith.
- for current workers among Muslims to be blessed, refreshed and encouraged
   with great support

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim

b) Pray for the Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut

I) Pray for the leaders of Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut,
that God's Spirit would influence then to act justly,
serve with integrity
and honour high moral standards. ( 1 Tim 2:1 - 4

1 Therefore I exhort first of all that you make supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone,
2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings and for all who are in authority,
that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty,
3(1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good
and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all men to be saved
and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Conclusion:

Pray to the Lord and praise him for His mighty power.

Pray to the Lord: "Dear Jesus, please help me 
to avoid distractions as I follow You."

Pray to the Lord and pray for the Holy Spirit to do His work in you.

Pray to the Lord and pray to declare Lord Jesus as your Saviour.

Pray to the Lord and pray to Know Lord Jesus loving kindness and tender mercies.

Agree in prayer with us for:
- new Christian workers among Manitoba's growing Muslim population
- new church ministries focused on prayer, equipping and reaching Muslim 
  communities around them, as well as training new workers
- the Arabic fellowship and their ministries of discipling new Muslim
  background believers and for effectiveness in outreach
- for the recent Somali woman who found faith  in Jesus and stood her ground
  in the face of opposition to her new faith.
- for current workers among Muslims to be blessed, refreshed and encouraged
   with great support
