PSALMS 3
A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.

1 Lord, how my foes have multiplied!
Many rise up against me!
2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Many are saying about my life,
"There is no help for him in God." Selah

3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) But You, O Lord, are a shield for me,
my glory and the One who raises up my head.
4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) I cried to the Lord with my voice,
and He answered me from His holy hill. Selah

I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.

who have set themselves against me all around.

Psalm 3

PSALMS 4

1 Hear me when I call,
O God of my righteousness!
You have given me relief when I was in distress;
have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) O people, how long will you turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love vanity and seek after lies? Selah
3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Know that the Lord set apart the faithful for Himself;
the Lord hears when I call to Him.

Commune with your own heart on your bed,

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Offer sacrifices of righteousness,
and trust in the Lord.

Psalm 4

1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness:

and sorrow in my heart by day?
How long will my enemy loom over me?

Brighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,
4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) lest my enemy say, "I have him,"
lest my foes exult when I stumble.

PSALMS 28

A Psalm of David.

1 To You, O Lord, will I cry;
my Rock, do not be silent to me;
lest if You were silent to me,
then I would become like those who go down to the pit.

when I cry to You,
when I lift up my hands
toward Your most holy place.
3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) Do not draw me away with the wicked
and with the workers of iniquity,
who speak peace to their neighbours,

and according to the wickedness of their endeavors;

A Contemplative Maskil of David.

1 Give ear to my prayer, O God,
and do not hide Yourself from my supplication.
2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Attend to me, and answer me;
I am restless in my complaint, and I murmur,
3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) because of the voice of the enemy,
because of the pressure of the wicked,
for they cause trouble to drop on me,
and in wrath they have animosity against me.
4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) My heart is in pain within me,
and the terrors of death have fallen on me.
5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) Fear and trembling come into me,
and horror has overwhelmed me.
6 (2Sa 17:22; Dt 3:8-9) I said, "Oh, that I had wings like a dove!
For then I would fly away and be at rest.
7 (Ps 88:7; Jnh 2:3) Indeed, then I would wander far off,
and remain in the wilderness. Selah

for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

trouble and sorrow are in its midst.

oppression and treachery do not depart from its streets.
12 For it is not an enemy who reproachesme;
then I could bear it.
Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me;
then I could hide from him.
13 But it was you, my peer,
my guide, and my acquaintance.
14 We took pleasant counsel together,
and walked to the house of God in company.
15 May death surprise them,
and may their lives go down to Sheol,

16 As for me, I will call on God,

Ecclesiastes 8:14-17

14 (Ecc 7:15; Mal 3:15) There is a vanity that takes place on the earth that
there are righteous men who are treated according to the deeds of the
wicked, and there are wicked men who are treated according to the deeds
of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.
15 (Ecc 2:24; 3:12-13) And I commend joy, for man has nothing better
under the sun than to eat and drink and be joyful; for this will go with him
in his labor all the days of his life that God has given him under the sun.
16 (Ps 127:2; Ecc 1:13) When I set my heart to know wisdom and to experience
the affairs that are done on earth, though day and night there is no sleep
for one's eyes,
17 (Ecc 3:11; Ps 73:16) then I saw all the work of God, that a man cannot
comprehend the work that is done under the sun. Inasmuch as a man labors
to seek, he will not understand. Even if a wise man claims to know,
he cannot grasp it. 
 
14 There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men,
unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there
be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous:
I said that this also is vanity.
15 Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun,
than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him
of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.
16 When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that
is done upon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth
sleep with his eyes: )
17 then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work
that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out,
yet he shall not find it; yea farther; though a wise man think to know it,
yet shall he not be able to find it. 

Sweetly fragrant cherry tree blossoms flood Japan with exquisite pale 
and vibrant pinks every spring, delighting the senses of residents 
and tourists alike. The short-lived nature of the blossoms cultivates 
a keen awareness in the Japanese to savor the beauty and scent while 
they linger: the very brevity of the experience heightens the poignancy 
of it. They call this deliberate enjoyment of something that will change 
quickly "mono-no-aware."

As humans, it’s understandable that we'd want to seek and prolong feelings 
of joy. Yet the reality that life is riddled with hardship means 
we must cultivate the ability to view both pain and pleasure through 
a lens of faith in a loving God. We needn't be overly pessimistic, 
nor should we fashion ourselves an unrealistically sunny outlook on life.

The book of Ecclesiastes offers a helpful model for us. Though this book 
is sometimes thought to be a catalogue of negative statements, the same 
King Solomon who wrote that "everything is meaningless" (1:2) also encouraged 
his readers to find joy in the simple things in life saying, 
"Tbecause a man hath no better thing under the sun,
than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry" (8:15).

Joy comes when we ask God to help us "know wisdom" and learn to observe 
"all that God has done" (vv. 16-17) in both beautiful seasons 
and in difficult ones (3:11-14; 7:13-14), knowing that neither 
is permanent on this side of heaven.

Week 3 - Saved Now and Forever - Day 3 - Inseparable From God's Love

Romans 8:38-39

38 (Eph 1:21; 1Pe 3:22) For I am persuaded that neither death nor life,
neither angels nor principalities nor powers, neither things present
nor things to come,
39 (Ro 5:8) neither height nor depth, nor any other created thing,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Separation is a fact of human life. Relationships disintegrate,
children grow up, loved ones die, husbands and wives divorce,
friends changes and drift apart. We may resist change and separation,
but we must deal with them nevertheless.
Separation sometimes is a natural result of growth and development;
sometimes it is a violent, cataclysmic shaking of an individual's life.
2 lifelong friends go separate ways to college or into future careers;
a church splits over doctrinal differences; a wife finds out a hidden
secret in her husband's past.
But with God, there is no separation, no death, no breaking of vows,
no growing beyond the relationship. Nothing, says Paul, can separate
us from the love of God. A skeleton in my closet, once revealed, may
cost me the trust of those I thought were my friends. But God knows
all my past, all my sin; he forgives, and it cannot separate me from him.
My present personal struggles may cause trouble in my job and result in
the loss of that income, but God understands what I'm going through,
and even when I'm angry at him, he can take it without drawing away
or striking back. My present problems cannot separate me from the Lord.
And God knows, too, the plan he has established for my future. I cannot
walk away from him, grow beyond my need for him, or outrun him into
tomorrow.
She may separate me from my awareness of God's presence in my life,
but it cannot set me beyond his reach. There is no power that is greater
than God's love, and no place I can go that will separate me
from that love.

Application

CNMM Networks:  Ottawa, Durham, York, Toronto, Mississauga, Halton, Hamilton,
                                   Niagara, Kitchener, London, Windsor

Ontario has 55% of all of Canada's entire Muslim population. This means that 
the whole of the Muslim world is represented somewhere in this province. Most
Muslims are understandably located along the southern border stretching
from Windsor eastward all the way up to Ottawa. Yet Muslims are constantly 
resettling in more and more suburban and even small towns of Ontario. Mosques 
are springing up, and where there are enough gathered, Islamic schools 
are starting.
And they're not complacent, either. Many Islamic leaders are energetic in their
advancement of Islam in Canadian society. Recently in the Niagara Region,
the local mosque distributed via Canada Post as many as 50000 full-colour 
brochures on Islam. An that mosque's Facebook page proudly show pictures of 
"reverts", or white Canadians who have converted to Islam as a result of
receiving the flier and engaging with the mosque community.  Another town 
reports  Muslims going door-to-door evangelism.
Agree in prayer for:

- net network leaders - the need is great
- the development of network leadership teams
- good connections with local pastors, congregations and individuals 
  whom God is calling into this ministry.
- wisdom facilitating outreach and training activities for mobilising 
   believers
- new full and part-time workers among Muslims throughout all these areas
- for pastors and churches to respond not in fear, but full of faith and love
  towards Muslims, sharing Jesus with them.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid  celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that 
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you 
know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 :  17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; 
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants 
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. 
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: 
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.  20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.
Matthew 5:14-15  : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a

a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager, 
I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to
cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians 
and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the
love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before. 
One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by
light who I knew was Jesus, the light of the world.

As I began to understand the gospel message, I encountered a reassuring and

- get network leaders - the need is great
- the development of network leadership teams
- good connections with local pastors, congregations and individuals 
  whom God is calling into this ministry.
- wisdom facilitating outreach and training activities for mobilising 
   believers
- new full and part-time workers among Muslims throughout all these areas
- for pastors and churches to respond not in fear, but full of faith and love
  towards Muslims, sharing Jesus with them.
