Proverbs 10

The Proverbs of Solomon

1 (Pr 1:1; 29:3) The proverbs of Solomon.
A wise son makes a glad father,
but a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
2 (Pr 11:4; 21:6) Treasures of wickedness profit nothing,
but righteousness delivers from death.
3 (Ps 34:9-10; 37:25) The Lord will not allow the soul
of the righteous to famish,
but He casts away the desire of the wicked.
4 (Pr 13:4; 21:5; 12:24) He becomes poor who deals with a slack hand,
but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
5 (Pr 6:8; 17:2) He who gathers in summer is a wise son,
but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.
6 (Pr 10:11; 28:20) Blessings are on the head of the just,
but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16 The labor of the righteous tends to life,
the fruit of the wicked to sin.
17 (Pr 6:23) He who keeps instruction is in the way of life,
but he who refuses reproof errs.
18 He who hides hatred has lying lips,
and he who spreads slander is a fool.
19 (Jas 3:2; Ecc 5:3; Jas 1:19) In the multitude of words sin is not lacking,
but he who restrains his lips is wise.
20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver;
the heart of the wicked is worth little.
21 (Hos 4:6; Pr 5:23) The lips of the righteous feed many,
but fools die for lack of wisdom.
22 (Ge 24:35; 26:12) The blessing of the Lord makes rich,
and He adds no sorrow with it.
23 (Pr 15:21; 2:14) To do mischief is like sport to a fool,
but a man of understanding has wisdom.
24 (Ps 145:19; Mt 5:6) The fear of the wicked will come upon him,
but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
25 (Ps 15:5; 58:9) As the whirlwind passes, so is the wicked no more,
but the righteous has an everlasting foundation.
26 As vinegar to the teeth and as smoke to the eyes,
so is the sluggard to those who send him.
27 (Job 15:32-33; Pr 3:2) The fear of the Lord prolongs days,
but the years of the wicked will be shortened.
28 (Job 8:13; Pr 11:7) The hope of the righteous will be gladness,
but the expectation of the wicked will perish.
29 (Pr 21:15) The way of the Lord is strength to the upright,
but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.
30 (Ps 37:22; 125:1) The righteous will never be removed,
but the wicked will not inhabit the earth.
31 (Ps 37:30; Pr 10:13) The mouth of the just brings forth wisdom,
but the perverse tongue will be cut out.
32 (Ecc 12:10) The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
but the mouth of the wicked speaks what is perverse.

Proverbs 11

1 (Pr 16:11; 20:10; 20:23) A false balance is abomination to the Lord,
but a just weight is His delight.
2 (Pr 29:23; 18:12) When pride comes, then comes shame;
but with the humble is wisdom.
3 (Pr 13:6 ) The integrity of the upright will guide them,
but the perverseness of transgressors will destroy them.
4 (Ge 7:1; Pr 10:2) Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from death.
5 (Pr 5:22) The righteousness of the upright will direct his way,
but the wicked will fall by his own wickedness.
6 (Ecc 10:8) The righteousness of the upright will deliver them,
but transgressors will be taken by their schemes.
7 (Pr 10:28; Job 8:13-14) When a wicked man dies, his expectation will perish,
and the hope of unjust men perishes.
8 (Pr 21:18) The righteous is delivered out of trouble,
and the wicked comes in his place.
9 A hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor,
but through knowledge the just will be delivered.
10 (Pr 28:12) When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices;
and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
11 (Pr 29:8) By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted,
but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
12 He who is void of wisdom despises his neighbor,
but a man of understanding holds his peace.
13 (Lev 19:16; Pr 20:19) A talebearer reveals secrets,
but he who is of a faithful spirit conceals the matter.
14 (Pr 15:22; 24:6) Where there is no counsel, the people fall;
but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.
15 (Pr 17:18) He who puts up a pledge for a stranger will suffer for it,
and he who hates being a pledge is secure.
16 (Pr 31:30-31) A gracious woman retains honor,
but ruthless men retain riches.
17 (Mt 5:7; 25:34-40) The merciful man does good to his own soul,
but he who is cruel troubles his own body.
18 (Gal 6:8-9; Jas 3:18) The wicked works a deceitful work,
but to him who sows righteousness will be a sure reward.
19 (Pr 10:16; 19:23) As righteousness tends to life,
so he who pursues evil pursues it to his own death.
20 (1Ch 29:17; Ps 119:1) Those who are of a perverse heart
are abomination to the Lord,
but such as are upright in their way are His delight.

but the posterity of the righteous will be delivered.
22 As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout,
so is a fair woman who is without discretion.

and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.

and he who waters will be watered also himself.
26 (Job 29:13) The people will curse him who withholds grain,

27 (Est 7:10; Ps 7:15-16) He who diligently seeks good procures favour,
but he who seeks mischief, it will come to him.

but the righteous will flourish as a branch.
29 (Ecc 5:16) He who troubles his own house will inherit the wind,
and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart.
30 (Jas 5:20; Pr 3:18) The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
and he who wins souls is wise.
31 (Jer 25:29) If the righteous will be recompensed in the earth,
how much more the wicked and the sinner.

Proverbs 11

And there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
25 The liberal soul shall be made fat:
And he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him:
But blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour:
But he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall:
But the righteous shall flourish as a branch.
29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind:
And the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life;
And he that winneth souls is wise.
31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth:
Much more the wicked and the sinner.

Proverbs 12
1 (Pr 9:7-8) Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge,
but he who hates reproof is brutish.
2 (Pr 8:35) A good man obtains favor of the Lord,
but a man of wicked devices will He condemn.
3 (Pr 10:25) A man will not be established by wickedness,
but the root of the righteous will not be moved.
4 (Pr 14:30; Hab 3:16) A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband,
but she who brings shame is as rottenness in his bones.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right,
but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
6 (Pr 14:3) The words of the wicked are, "Lie in wait for blood,"
but the mouth of the upright will deliver them.
7 (Pr 10:25; 11:21) The wicked are overthrown, and are not,
but the house of the righteous will stand.
8 A man will be commended according to his wisdom,
but he who is of a perverse heart will be despised.
9 He who is lightly esteemed and has a servant is better
than he who honors himself and lacks bread.
10 (Dt 25:4) A righteous man regards the life of his animal,
but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11 (Pr 28:19; Jdg 9:4) He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread,
but he who follows vain persons is void of understanding.
12 (Ps 10:9) The wicked covet the plunder of evil men,
but the root of the righteous yields fruit.
13 (2Pe 2:9; Ps 64:8) The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips,
but the just will come out of trouble.
14 (Pr 13:2; Isa 3:10-11) A man will be satisfied with good
by the fruit of his mouth,
and the recompense of a man's hands will be rendered to him.
15 (Pr 16:2; 16:25) The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
but he who listens to counsel is wise.
16 (Pr 29:11) A fool's wrath is presently known,
but a prudent man covers shame.
17 (Pr 14:5; 6:19) He who speaks truth shows forth righteousness,
but a false witness deceit.
18 (Ps 57:4; Pr 16:24) There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword,
but the tongue of the wise is health.
19 (Pr 19:9) The truthful lip will be established forever,
but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those who imagine evil,
but to the counselors of peace is joy.
21 (Ps 91:10) There will no evil happen to the just,
but the wicked will be filled with mischief.
22 (Rev 22:15; Pr 11:20) Lying lips are abomination to the Lord,
but those who deal truly are His delight.
23 (Pr 13:16; 15:2) A prudent man conceals knowledge,
but the heart of fools proclaims foolishness.
24 (Pr 10:4; 13:4) The hand of the diligent will rule,
but the slothful will be put to forced labor.
25 (Pr 15:13; 15:23) Heaviness in the heart of man makes it droop,
but a good word makes it glad.
26 The righteous is a guide to his neighbors,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
27 (Pr 13:4) The slothful man does not roast that which he took in hunting,
but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
28 (3Jn 1:11) In the way of righteousness is life,
and in its pathway there is no death.

EXODUS 3

Moses at the Burning Bush

1 (1Ki 19:8; Nu 10:29) Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father-in-law,
the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert
and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb.
2 (Dt 33:16; Isa 63:9) The angel of the Lord appeared to him
in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush,
and he looked, and the bush burned with fire, but the bush was not consumed.
3 (Ac 7:31) So Moses said, "I will now turn aside and see this great sight,
why the bush is not burnt."
4 (Dt 33:16) When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see,
God called to him from out of the midst of the bush and said, "Moses, Moses."
And he said, "Here am I.'
7 (Ps 106:44; Ex 2:23-25) The Lord said, "I have surely seen the affliction
of My people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry on account
of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
8 (Ge 50:24; 15:18-21; Ex 13:5) Therefore, I have come down to deliver
them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that
land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey,
to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites,

9 (Ex 2:23; 3:7) Now therefore, the cry of the children of Israel has come
to Me. Moreover,

She looked into my eyes and said, "Don't waste your pain."
My mind immediately returned to the time years prior when 
I'd led the memorial service for her young adult son whose life was taken 
in a car accident. She knew what she was talking about. She knew pain. 
But she also knew how God could use it to honour Him and help 
others - something this friend had done so very well. And as I heard her 
words, they comforted and encouraged me as I faced a serious cancer 
diagnosis. She was reminding me that God heard my cries and lament, 
and that He was with me in my pain and might use it to help others 
in a new way.

Moses also learned that God was with His people in their pain. "I have 
indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt," God said. "I have heard 
them crying out . . . and I am concerned about their suffering" (Exodus 3:7). 
The Israelites, like us at times, must have felt alone in their pain. But 
God assured them He had a plan to "rescue them" and that "the cry" of their 
hearts was heard (vv. 8-9). He would ultimately use their pain to grow their 
faith, defeat their enemies, and bring Him honor.

In Psalm 90, the only psalm attributed to Moses, he declared that even though 
our "best years are filled with pain" (v. 10 nlt), God's "unfailing love" is 
with us "to the end of our lives" (v. 14 nlt). He lovingly won't waste 
our pain - and neither should we.

Week 2 - Saved by Grace - Day 6 - It is Finished

John 5:24

24 (Jn 3:18; 1Jn 3:14; Jn 3:36) "Truly, truly I say to you, whoever hears
My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life
and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. "

[24] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth
on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into
condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

"PLEASE BE PATIENT - GOD IS NOT FINISHED WITH ME YET,"
the sweatshirt read. In this case, the message was an ironic one,
for the occupant of the shirt was a snaggle-toothed, freckle-faced six year
old!
In one sense, God is not finished with the work he has to do in each of us.
Life in Christ is an ongoing process of change and growth as we become
more like him. Certainly, the more we see of ourselves, the more we hope
he isn't finished with us!
Yet whatever plans God has for making us into the men and women he created
us to be, certain aspects of our life in Christ are finished, finalised.
Jesus declares with absolute assurance, "whoever hears
My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life
and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. "
Because we do not have to earn or deserve God's grace, because we are not
called to prove ourselves worthy of Salvation, we can have immediate
and total assurance of the security of life in Jesus Christ. The one who
put his trust in the Lord has eternal life; he will not be condemned;
he has crossed over from death to life.
This "crossing over" into life happens in the split second when we acknowledge
our dependence upon Christ alone. And the rest of our lives is given over to
the development of his image in us.
God is not finished with us yet.
But his work of salvation is finished - complete,
fully dependable an accomplished fact.

Application

a) Have I ever doubted the "accomplished fact" of my own salvation? Why?

b) How can today's verse help me realise that, although I may have a lot of
growing yet to do, my salvation in Jesus Christ is secure?

There is a growing Muslim population in Quebec City and a smattering
of Muslims scattered around the rest of the province, yet the vast majority
of Muslims live in the greater Montreal area. n fact, 23% of Canada's Muslim
population live in Quebec. Why is that? It is largely because Francophone
African Muslims are attracted to La Belle Provence.
And here's an interesting, perhaps even shocking fact: There are more 
Muslims in Montreal than there are evangelical Christians. 
This is one demographic factor creates a challenging environment for churches
and believers here: The size of the available 'workforce' is small 
by comparison to begin with. Believers are already is a host culture that
is often either indifferent to religion  or resistant to it.  And now 
this 'new'  religious community of Muslims - many of whom do not visibly 
or socially conform to Quebec society - are a growing population. It might br
easy for Christians to feel overwhelm by this cultural double-whammy, 
yet God has always worked miracles through the small, the few.
Agree in prayer for :

- The people of Quebec, Muslim or otherwise, to be open to the Gospel
- for Muslims who are encountering believers and responding
-for a new group of Muslim background believers who are meeting 
together for worship!
- For pastors and believers to be full of passion, faith and vision for
  reaching Muslims in Quebec.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid  celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that 
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you 
know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 :  17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; 
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants 
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. 
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: 
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.  20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

I) Pray for the leaders of Alberta, that God's Spirit would influence then to
act justly, serve with integrity and honour high moral standards. 
( 1 Tim 2:1 - 4) 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that you make supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone, 2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings
and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life
in all godliness and honesty, 3 (1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good and 
acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all
men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 for kings, 
and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable 
life in all godliness and honesty. 3For this is good and acceptable 
in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 who will have all men to be saved, 
and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

II) Pray for the churches of the province, that they would be lighthouses
beaming forth the illuminating truth of God's Word.

III) Pray that the Lord would use the Finding the Hope Campaign and booklet 
to turn many hearts to Jesus

Conclusion:

Pray to the Lord and pray to seek His wisdom knowledge and justice.

Pray to the Lord: "Loving God, thank You for hearing my cries 
and using my pain to help others."

Pray to the Lord and pray to know that Lord Jesus Christ totally 
forgives confessed sin. 

Pray to the Lord and pray to know the Lord Jesus who plants.

Pray to the Lord and pray to know the joy of Salvation in Lord Jesus Christ.
