2 Kings 21:1-9

1 (Isa 62:4) Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king,
and he reigned 55 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hephzibah.
2 He did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominations
of the nations whom the Lord dispossessed before the children of Israel.
3 (2Ki 17:16; 18:4) He went back and rebuilt the high places that Hezekiah
his father had destroyed. He erected altars for Baal, made an Asherah pole
as Ahab king of Israel had done, and worshipped all the host of heaven
and served them.
4 (2Sa 7:13; 1Ki 8:29) He built altars in the house of the Lord,
of which the Lord had said, "In Jerusalem I will put My name."
5 (1Ki 7:12; 6:36) He built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts
of the house of the Lord.
6 (Lev 18:21; 19:31) He made his son pass through the fire,
was conjuring and seeking omens, and dealt with mediums and soothsayers.
He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger.
7 (1Ki 8:29; 9:3) He put a carved image of Asherah that he had made
in the house of which the Lord said to David and to Solomon his son,
"In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes
of Israel, I will put My name forever.
8 (2Sa 7:10) I will not make the feet of Israel to wander homeless
from the land that I gave to their fathers, if only they will be careful
to do according to all that I have commanded them and according
to all the law that My servant Moses commanded them."
9 (Pr 29:12) But they did not listen. Manasseh led them to do more evil
than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel.

which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in
Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my
name for ever:
[8] Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land
which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all
that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant
Moses commanded them.
[9] But they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than
did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.

2 Chronicles 33:1-9

Manasseh, King of Judah
2Ki 21:1-18

1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king,
and he was king in Jerusalem for fifty-five years.
2 But he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominations
of the nations whom the Lord previously cast out before the sons of Israel.
3 And he turned again to build the high places that his father Hezekiah
had torn down, and he set up altars to the Baals, and made Asherah poles,
and worshipped the starry assembly of heaven and served them.
4 And he built altars in the house of the Lord where the Lord said,
"In Jerusalem My name will be perpetual."
5 And he built altars for the starry assembly of heaven in the two courtyards
of the house of the Lord.
6 He even made his sons pass through the fire in the
Valley of Ben Hinnom; and he had conjurers, and practitioners of divination
and sorcery, and necromancers, and mediums. So he did a great amount of evil
in the eyes of the Lord, so that God was provoked.
7 And he set the carved image of a statue that he made and put in the house
of God where God said to David and to Solomon his son,
"In this house and in Jerusalem where I have chosen from among all the tribes
of Israel, there I have set My name perpetually.
8 And I will not again remove the foot of Israel from the ground that I have
designated to your fathers, if only they will keep on doing everything that
I have commanded them, the whole law, statutes, and judgments from
the hand of Moses."
9 So Manasseh made Judah and those living in Jerusalem to wander
and to perform more evil than the nations that the Lord destroyed
from before Israel.

God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house,
and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will
I put my name for ever:
[8] Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land
which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do
all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes
and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.
[9] So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to
do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children
of Israel.

2 Kings 21:10-17

10 The Lord spoke by His servants the prophets, saying,
11 (1Ki 21:26; 2Ki 24:3-4)"Because Manasseh king of Judah
has done these abominations, things more evil than all that the Amorites did,
and has also caused Judah to sin with his idols,
12 (1Sa 3:11; Jer 19:3) therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel:
I am bringing evil on Jerusalem and Judah, such evil that the ears
of whoever hears about it will tingle.
13 (Isa 34:11; Am 7:7-8) I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring
line of Samaria and the level of the house of Ahab,
and I will wipe out Jerusalem as one wipes out a bowl,
wiping it and turning it upside down.
14 (Jer 23:33; 2Ki 19:4) I will disregard the remnant of My inheritance
and give them into the hand of their enemies.
They shall become plunder and spoil for all their enemies,
15 because they have done evil in My sight and have provoked Me
to anger, since the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day."
16 (2Ki 21:11) Moreover, Manasseh shed innocent blood very much,
until he had filled Jerusalem from one end to the other;
besides his sin he caused Judah to sin by doing evil in the sight of the Lord.
17 Now the rest of the deeds of Manasseh, all that he did, and his sin
that he committed, are they not written in the book
of the annals of the kings of Judah?

[10] And the LORD spake by his servants the prophets, saying,
[11] Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath
done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and
hath made Judah also to sin with his idols:
[12] Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such
evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears
shall tingle.
[13] And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet
of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish,
wiping it, and turning it upside down.
[14] And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them
into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to
all their enemies;
[15] Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have
provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt,
even unto this day.
[16] Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled
Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he made
Judah to
sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
[17] Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin
that he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the
kings of Judah?

2 Chronicles 33:10-19

Manasseh's Repentance

10 The Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they did not pay attention.
11 So the Lord brought on them the officials
of the army of the king of Assyria. They captured Manasseh with hooks,
and they bound him in bronze chains and led him to Babylon.
12 And when he was distressed, he entreated the face of the Lord his God,
and he greatly humbled himself before the God of his fathers.
13 And he prayed to God, and He was moved and responded
to his plea and returned him to Jerusalem to his kingdom.
Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God.
14 After this he built an outer wall for the City of David, west of Gihon,
in the valley and toward the entrance of the Fish Gate, where it went
around Ophel, and raised it to a very great height. Then he positioned
military commanders in all the fortified cities in Judah.
15 And he removed the foreign gods and statues from the house of the Lord,
and all the altars that he built on the hill of the house of the Lord
and Jerusalem, and he cast them outside the city.
16 He also restored the altar of the Lord, and he sacrificed fellowship and
thanksgiving offerings, and he ordered Judah to serve the Lord God of Israel.
17 However, the people continued to sacrifice at the high places,
but only to the Lord their God.

[10] And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not
hearken.
[11] Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the
king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with
fetters, and carried him to Babylon.
[12] And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and
humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,
[13] And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his
supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then
Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.
[14] Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west
side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and
compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put
captains of war in all the fenced cities of Judah.
[15] And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the
LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the
LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.
[16] And he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed thereon peace
offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of
Israel.
[17] Nevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places, yet
unto the LORD their God only.

The Death of Manasseh

18 And the remainder of the acts of Manasseh and his prayer to God
and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the Lord God
of Israel are written in the annals of the kings of Israel.
19 And his prayer and how God received his entreaty, and all his sin
and unfaithfulness, and the sites where he built high places and where he set
up the Asherah poles and images before he humbled himself,
indeed they are written in the sayings of Hozai.

[18] Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and
the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the LORD God of
Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.
[19] His prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all his sin, and
his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves
and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the
sayings of the seers.

2 Kings 21:18

18 (2Ch 33:20; 2Ki 21:26) Manasseh slept with his fathers,
and was buried in the garden of his house, in the garden of Uzza.
Amon his son reigned in his place.

[18] And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of
his own house, in the garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his
stead.

2 Chronicles 33:20

20 So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his palace,
and Amon his son reigned in his place.

2 Kings 21:19-26

Amon, King of Judah
2Ch 33:21-25
19 (2Ch 33:21-23) Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king.
He reigned two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Meshullemeth,
daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.
20 He did evil in the sight of the Lord, as his father Manasseh had done.
21 He walked in all the ways that his father walked,
served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them.
22 (1Ki 11:33; 2Ki 22:17) He abandoned the Lord God of his fathers,
and he did not walk in the way of the Lord.
23 (2Ki 12:20; 14:19) The servants of Amon conspired against him
and killed the king in his house.
24 (2Ki 14:5) But the people of the land struck all those who conspired
against King Amon, and the people of the land made
Josiah his son king in his place.
25 Now the rest of the deeds of Amon that he did,
are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?
26 (2Ki 21:18) And he was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza,
and Josiah his son reigned in his place.

[19] Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign, and he
reigned two years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Meshullemeth, the

[20] And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father

2 Chronicles 33:21-25

Amon, King of Judah
2Ki 21:19-24

21 And Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign,
and he was king for two years in Jerusalem.
22 And he did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord as his father Manasseh
had done. And Amon sacrificed to and served all the idols that Manasseh
his father had made.
23 He did not humble himself before the Lord as his father humbled himself.
But he increased his guilt all the more.
24 And his servants plotted against him, and they killed him in his palace.
25 Then the people of the land struck down all those who conspired against
King Amon. The people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.

[21] Amon was two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned
two years in Jerusalem.
[22] But he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did
Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which
Manasseh his father had made, and served them;
[23] And humbled not himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had
humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.
[24] And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.
[25] But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against
king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his
stead.

Matthew 5:5

5 (Ps 37:11; Ro 4:13) Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

In Charles Dickens' classic novel Oliver Twist, the sickly Oliver is born in 
a workhouse, an institution notorious for exploiting the poor. Orphaned at 
birth, the boy eventually runs away due to abusive treatment. Through an 
amazing set of "twists," he learns he is heir to a sizable fortune. Dickens, 
who loved happy endings, ensured that everyone who harmed Oliver over 
the years either received justice or repented. His oppressors got what 
they deserved while Oliver "inherited the land." If only life came with tidy 
endings like those scripted in a Dickens novel.

In the Bible, we read the song lyrics by a man who anticipated such 
a day - when justice is served and the oppressed "inherit the land" 
(Psalm 37:9). Though he experienced evil firsthand, the poet David 
urged patience. "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him," he 
wrote. "Do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out 
their wicked schemes" (v. 7). He continued, "Those who are evil will be 
destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land" (v. 9). 
Despite observing how the "wicked draw the sword" to "bring down the poor 
and needy" (v. 14), David trusted God to make things right (v. 15).

Life is hard and often unfair. Yet we hear in the words of Jesus 
an echo from Psalm 37: "Blessed are the meek," He said, 
"for they shall inherit the earth" (Matthew 5:5).

Reflect & Pray

When have you been treated badly? 
How will you trust God in your unfair situations?

John 5:24

My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life
and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. "

[24] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth
on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into
condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

"PLEASE BE PATIENT - GOD IS NOT FINISHED WITH ME YET,"
the sweatshirt read. In this case, the message was an ironic one,
for the occupant of the shirt was a snaggle-toothed, freckle-faced six year
old!
In one sense, God is not finished with the work he has to do in each of us.
Life in Christ is an ongoing process of change and growth as we become
more like him. Certainly, the more we see of ourselves, the more we hope
he isn't finished with us!
Yet whatever plans God has for making us into the men and women he created
us to be, certain aspects of our life in Christ are finished, finalised.
Jesus declares with absolute assurance, "whoever hears
My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life
and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. "
Because we do not have to earn or deserve God's grace, because we are not
called to prove ourselves worthy of Salvation, we can have immediate
and total assurance of the security of life in Jesus Christ. The one who
put his trust in the Lord has eternal life; he will not be condemned;
he has crossed over from death to life.
This "crossing over" into life happens in the split second when we acknowledge
our dependence upon Christ alone. And the rest of our lives is given over to
the development of his image in us.
God is not finished with us yet.
But his work of salvation is finished - complete,
fully dependable an accomplished fact.

Application

a) Have I ever doubted the "accomplished fact" of my own salvation? Why?

b) How can today's verse help me realise that, although I may have a lot of
growing yet to do, my salvation in Jesus Christ is secure?

New Brunswick

Total population 753900
Muslim population (est.) 4543

Moncton, followed by Fredericton and Saint John, each have a growing Muslim
population in New Brunswick, In 2007, the building that was formerly a Baptist
church was converted into Moncton's 1st mosque. The University of Moncton
also has a Muslim student association hosting prayer services, fellowship
getherings, and outreaches on campus.
Fredericton also has one mosque and a Muslim student association serving the
campuses of the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University.
Fredericton's Muslim population consists in 2014 of about 50 families,
and between 300 to 400 university students.
Saint John is home to the 1st Muslim Association for the province,
which also helped foster the Islamic associations of Fredericton and Moncton.
a 'musalla', or prayer location that is not officially structured as a mosque,
has been established in the Uptown area with the intention of seeing it grow
into a 2nd official place of Muslim worship. Demand for this new location has
been primarily for university students moving into the area.

Pray for Muslims and New Brunswick
- that the eyes of pastors, believers and entire congregations will be opened
to see this growing body of Muslims, and their hearts will be opened
to sharing God's love in Jesus Christ with them

- that intentional ministries to Muslims will grow and flourish in these
areas of concentration

- that cooperative CNNMM Networks will form to really, encourage,
and equip believers to lovingly reach Muslims in this province.

Adding further

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other,
"What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice
and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,
let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,
since it is the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,
'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.'

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective
discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for
Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the
house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving
Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

1) Pray for an outpouring of God's Holy Spirit on Canada

2) Pray that the heart of our Prime Minister
would be directed to do that which pleases God

(Prov 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord,
as the rivers of water; He turns it to any place He will.

As the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

Conclusion:

Pray to the Lord and pray to for repentance in your nation.

Pray to the Lord: "Dear God, please help me wait patiently 
for You to make things right."

Pray to the Lord and pray to know that you are growing in Jesus Christ
and that your Salvation in Jesus Christ is assured.

Pray to the Lord and pray to know His Blessings.

Pray to the Lord and pray to rejoice in all circumstances 
in the Lord Jesus Christ
Pray for Muslims and New Brunswick
- that the eyes of pastors, believers and entire congregations will be opened
to see this growing body of Muslims, and their hearts will be opened
to sharing God's love in Jesus Christ with them

- that intentional ministries to Muslims will grow and flourish in these
areas of concentration

- that cooperative CNNMM Networks will form to really, encourage,
and equip believers to lovingly reach Muslims in this province.

Pray that the heart of our Prime Minister
would be directed to do that which pleases God

Pray for the spread of the Gospel in Turkey where less than 1 percent
of the population is Christian.

Pray to the Lord that to know the Holy Spirit.
and Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness.

Pray for the direction you take to the Ever lasting loving God.
