Border Patrol detains Chicago news producer. See video of incident.
The incident came a day after a federal judge issued a temporary 
restraining order against federal agents targeting journalists covering 
protests.

Federal Border Patrol agents on Friday, Oct. 10, detained a Chicago news 
producer during an immigration enforcement operation.

Video of the incident shows masked agents holding Debbie Brockman, of 
WGN-TV, face down in the middle of a North Side street as they handcuff 
her. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which includes Border 
Patrol, has accused her of throwing an object at a Border Patrol car. 
WGN reported that she hasn’t been charged with a crime.

A man recording the incident asked for her name. Brockman, whose 
LinkedIn lists her as a producer, identified herself and said she works 
for WGN, a Chicago-based news station. “Let them know,” she said.

Agents then placed her in the back of an unmarked gray Chrysler minivan 
with tinted windows as onlookers yelled at them.

News producer 'threw objects' at Border Patrol agent's vehicle, DHS says
In a statement, Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of public affairs 
at DHS, said Border Patrol was conducting immigration enforcement 
operations at the time of the incident. She said “agitators” used their 
cars to block agents, and agents then hit a suspect’s vehicle to create 
an opening.

As agents were driving, Brockman, an American citizen, “threw objects” 
at the car, McLaughlin said. Agents then placed her under arrest on 
suspicion of assault on a federal law enforcement officer, she added.
